H.H. Sheikh Hamdan attends 34th Joint Command and Staff Course graduation ceremony
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, on Thursday attended the graduation ceremony of the 34th Joint Command and Staff Course at the Joint Command and Staff College in Abu Dhabi.
His Highness honoured outstanding officers, wishing them success in their military careers and also presented awards and certificates to the graduates.
His Highness also took commemorative photos with the graduates and college leadership, expressing his appreciation for the Joint Command and Staff College and pride in the achievements of the graduates.
The graduation ceremony was also attended by Staff Lieutenant General Issa bin Ablan Saif Al Mazrouei, Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces; Lieutenant General Ibrahim Nasser Al Alawi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, along with senior officials of the Armed Forces and and military attachés from participating countries.
Staff Brigadier General Saeed Salmeen Al Alawi, Commandant of the Joint Command and Staff College, welcomed attendees and congratulated the graduates, highlighting their readiness for future leadership roles. He also emphasised the College's vital role in developing military leaders equipped to navigate evolving regional and global challenges.

India defence chief says at least one jet downed in Pakistan conflict
India's defence chief on Saturday appeared to confirm his country had lost at least one aircraft during the brief conflict with Pakistan earlier this month, he told Bloomberg in an interview. India and Pakistan were engaged in a four-day conflict this month, their worst standoff since 1999, before a ceasefire was agreed on May 10. More than 70 people were killed in missile, drone and artillery fire on both sides. Pakistan claimed its Chinese-supplied jets had shot down six Indian aircraft. India's chief of defence staff, General Anil Chauhan, called Pakistan's claims that it shot down six Indian warplanes "absolutely incorrect". But Chauhan, when pressed as to whether India had lost any jets, appeared to confirm New Delhi had lost an unspecified number of aircraft -- without giving details. "I think, what is important is that, not the jet being down, but why they were being down," he told Bloomberg TV, speaking on the sidelines of Shangri-La Dialogue defence meeting in Singapore. There was no immediate response from New Delhi. On May 11, a day after the ceasefire, India's Air Marshal A.K. Bharti, speaking to reporters, had said that "all our pilots are back home", adding that "we are in a combat scenario, and that losses are a part of combat". A senior security source told AFP three Indian jets had crashed on home soil without giving the make or cause. But until the comments on Saturday, India had not officially confirmed any of its aircraft were lost. "The good part is that we are able to understand the tactical mistake which we made, remedy it, rectify it, and then implement it again after two days and flew all our jets, again targeting at long range," Chauhan added, speaking to Bloomberg. "Why they were down -- that is more important for us, and what did we do after that", he added. The recent conflict between the nuclear-armed rivals was triggered by an attack on tourists in Indian-administered Kashmir on April 22, the deadliest on civilians in the contested Muslim-majority territory in decades. New Delhi blamed Islamabad for backing the Islamist militants it said carried out the attack, charges that Pakistan denied.

Sultan visits Milan's Catholic University of the Sacred Heart
Gulf Today, Staff Reporter Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, in the presence of his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, has presented to the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan a rare historical manuscript dated Aug.14, 1624, which contains a papal decree issued by Pope Urban VIII at the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome. In addition, the Sharjah Ruler also presented Arabic and English versions of Sheikh Sultan's book, Papal Bull: Pope Urban VIII Pope of the Catholic Church Dated August 14, 1624. The gifting ceremony began with Sheikh Sultan receiving a special welcome by the university's musical group, which performed classical pieces in Arabic, expressing their deep appreciation for the Sharjah Ruler's contributions particularly through the Arab Cultural Institute in Milan and Sheikh Sultan's ongoing efforts in the field of Arabic language and its study. They also conveyed the profound respect and admiration that Sheikh Sultan commands within Italian academic and cultural circles. In a written address delivered on behalf of Bishop Paolo Martinelli, the Apostolic Vicar of Southern Arabia, he expressed his gratitude for the Ruler of Sharjah's visit to the Sacred Heart University and the generous gift of a valuable historical manuscript dating back to Pope Urban VIII.
