Organised with a deft hand, and no shortage of heart, the fundraiser proved that charitable spirit and healthy competition make for a winning combination. Attendees from all walks of life, as well as all ages, turned up in force to support Hatzolah, the local emergency medical service renowned for its rapid response and compassionate care. But this was no ordinary day on the green.

Among the many who donned their whites were two absolute legends of the sport: Ronnie Bresgie and Stan Sandler, both a sprightly 93 years old, whose unwavering energy left younger competitors in awe. Their participation underscored the day's unofficial motto: 1Sport4Life, proving that lawn bowls knows no age limit.
Adding to the festive atmosphere was the delightful twist that every participant walked away with a prize – a thoughtful gesture that spoke volumes about the event's inclusive, community-first ethos. Top accolades went to the Cohen brothers, Desiree Clayden, and Darryl Jacobson, who bowled their way to a well-deserved victory.
A heartfelt thank you was extended to the event sponsors, whose generous donations of gifts and prizes added a touch of sparkle, helping ensure the day's overwhelming success.
Funds raised will directly support Hatzolah's tireless work, providing emergency medical assistance where it's most urgently needed, and while the final figures are still being tallied, the impact of the event is already clear.
To everyone who planned, played, or simply popped by to cheer, your efforts have made a tangible difference. And judging by the buzz still echoing around the club, this won't be the last time bowls and benevolence team up for a great cause.

PSL Club 100: Shalulile and Nomvethe lead the goalscoring charts!
Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile has finally broken Siyabonga Nomvethe's long-standing PSL goalscoring record. It took the Namibia international just 10 years to equal Nomvethe's record, and he did that with just two teams. Shalulile first arrived in the PSL in 2015 when he signed for Highlands Park. He then joined Sundowns in 2020. Now, he has scored 129 goals in the South African topflight, the same number goals scored by Nomvethe during his playing days. It is worth mentioning that Nomvethe officially retired from football in September 2018, meaning his record stood for seven years. The South African takes a look at players – active and inactive – who scored 100 or more goals in the PSL era. Sundowns release statement amid Lucas Ribeiro Costa news
Mamelodi Sundowns have released an official statement aimed at putting out the fire set by the news of Lucas Ribeiro Costa. Ribeiro Costa is currently not with Sundowns despite having an existing contract which runs out in June 2028. On Thursday, The South African reported on Ribeiro Costa's intention to terminate his contract with Sundowns. This is due to the fact that he feels The Brazilians are unfairly denying him an opportunity to play abroad. Qatar SC and Fluminense are some of the teams reported to have shown huge interest in the Brazilian attacker. However, Sundowns are reportedly making it impossible with their high transfer fee demands, and now the club has hit back. In the statement, Sundowns said they are committed to continue discussions and negotiations with teams interested in their players. However, they maintain that they will do that for the interest of all the parties involved, including the club itself. It is worth mentioning that Ribeiro Costa is not the only player that is pushing for a move abroad. Attacker Thapelo Maseko and defender Khuliso Mudau are among those reported to be unhappy with Sundowns' decisions. Luke Baartman made to wait for Kaizer Chiefs debut by Spurs
Newly-signed Kaizer Chiefs attacker Luke Baartman will have to wait a little longer for his official debut. Baartman was unveiled by Amakhosi on Tuesday night following the ruling by the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber (PSL DRC) The PSL DRC on Monday ruled that Baartman was a free agent as Cape Town Spurs are now an amateur side. However, Spurs argued that Baartman still had an exisiting contract with them despite their relegation to the ABC Motsepe League. Now, according to iDiski Times , Spurs have taken the matter on appeal to the South African Football Association (SAFA). The Urban Warriors feel aggrieved by the ruling, and strongly believe that SAFA will interprete the rules differently. Nonetheless, this Baartman-Spurs saga is likely to have the same ending as that of Asanele Velebayi who was also declared a free agent by SAFA before joining Chiefs. Now, Chiefs will NOT be able to play Baartman until SAFA rules on the matter brought forward by Spurs. Luke Baartman will wear jersey No.11 at Kaizer Chiefs.
