New Infiniti Q50 To Get Nissan Z's 400-Hp Engine, 6-Speed Stick Shift
If you thought the Infiniti Q50 was axed, think again. After discontinuing sales of the Q50 sedan last year, Infiniti is making a quicker comeback to the US sedan market than expected. At Nissan's national dealer gathering in Las Vegas on August 20, the brand gave media a sneak peek at a car dubbed the Q50S. Originally, Nissan's luxury brand planned to replace the Q50 with an electric sedan by the end of the decade. But that strategy has been shelved due to waning EV demand and a reduction in government assistance for EVs. In the second half of 2027, we will now see Infiniti unexpectedly introduce a second-generation gasoline-powered Q50. And it will employ the cream from Nissan's parts bin. 'Unexpected' is a poignant way to describe news of the EV-out, ICE-in strategy. Photos shown to dealers behind closed doors revealed the new so-called Q50S that will land in showrooms in a revised 'low-slung, swoop profile with slender headlights and Skyline-like circular tail lights. The new Q50S will get a Z-based 450-hp engine and 6-speed manual Two Nissan legends serve as inspiration for the resurrected Q50—it's built on the same platform as the Skyline sedan sold in Japan and powered by a returned version of the Z sports car's highly rated 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. But according to Automotive News, Infiniti wants to up the ante and boost power from the current 400-hp to 450-hp. And when you marry that with the option of a 6-speed transmission and rear-wheel drive, then you have something quite special, rivaling sports sedans out of Europe and for a lot less money. Infiniti urgently needs new models after it lost half of its U.S. range by dropping two compact crossovers built in Mexico in reaction to import duties imposed by President Trump. Next year, the carmaker will launch the QX65, a two-row coupe-like vehicle, along with performance and off-road versions of the QX80 SUV. Vinay Shahani, the head of sales and marketing for Nissan in the United States, stated, 'We simply haven't had the product. And now we're bringing the product to the table.' In a video, Infiniti teased the low-slung vehicle, revealing a swoopy profile, slim headlights, and circular taillights reminiscent of the Skyline. Infiniti's car is "extremely important, especially for bringing younger buyers back to the brand," Shahani underlined. He emphasized how well-liked entry-level sedans like the Mercedes C-Class, Lexus IS 500 F Sport, and BMW 3 Series are among luxury-minded aficionados.

Oil Steady; Russia-Ukraine Potential Peace Talks in Focus
0016 GMT — Oil is steady in the early Asian trade. Traders continue to monitor peace talks developments between the U.S., EU, Ukraine, and Russia, says Osama Al Saifi, managing director for MENA at in a commentary. 'Any positive progress could see a potential lift in sanctions against Russia, leading to more Russian crude arriving on the market, pushing prices down,' he says. However, if talks lead to a dead end, markets could find support as new sanctions may make it harder for Russia to supply its current buyers, he adds. Front-month WTI crude oil futures and Brent crude oil futures are each flat at $63.50/bbl and $67.64/bbl, respectively. (
