Former Texas A&M guard has signed an international deal with the Maccabi Basketball Club

USA Today27-07-2025
Former Texas A&M guard Tyrece "Boots" Radford solidified his standing as one of the program's more popular players over the last decade after transferring from Virginia Tech, following then-head coach Buzz Williams to College Station to join the Aggies ahead of the 2021 season.
After three seasons, including two trips to the NCAA Tournament, Radford went undrafted. Following a brief stint in the NBA Summer League, his international career began.
During the 2025 season, Radford played for Final Spor Genclik Bursa of the Basketbol Süper Ligi, a part of the Turkish Basketball Federation, and averaged 19.4 points, six rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.2 steals per game, which is very impressive for a first-year guard entering the international league.
On Sunday, it was announced that Radford is returning to action and will join the Maccabi Basketball Club of Ra'anana in Israel for the 2025-2026 season. This is fairly typical in international play, as most players do not sign long-term contracts, unlike in the NBA.
Based on his performance in Turkey last season, averaging nearly 20 points per game would have warranted a longer stay; however, that's just how quickly international player movement occurs.
During his time at Texas A&M, Radford's elite defensive skill set translates perfectly to the NBA. However, his injury history, coupled with his lack of quickness, places him in a unique spot: still young enough, at the age of 26, to potentially land on an NBA roster in the near future.

HoopsHype ranks Sixers star Joel Embiid in top 79 players of all time

The Philadelphia 76ers will go as far as Joel Embiid takes them as far as their championship hopes are concerned. The big fella has dealt with injuries throughout his career, but when he's right and healthy, everybody knows how dominant he is as a basketball player. Embiid, the No. 3 pick of the 2014 NBA draft, has career averages of 27.7 points and 11.0 rebounds and has led the league in scoring twice. He won the MVP award in 2023 when he averaged 33.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 4.2 assists and was on his way to winning the award again in 2024 before suffering a knee injury in January of that season. HoopsHype put together a list of the top 79 players in the history of the NBA and Embiid came in ranked No. 77 on the list: When ready to go, he's one of the most unstoppable big men ever thanks to his massive frame, mobility and deep bag. The problem with him is that he doesn't play that many minutes considering he misses a lot of time due to health reasons regularly. Plus his track record in the playoffs is spotty as well. If he manages to stay in shape and healthy and gets the Sixers to make deep runs in the postseason, he could move up in this ranking. We're not holding our breath, though. Not with his age and the way he looked last year. After undergoing knee surgery in April, Embiid is hopeful that he can come back and be the same dominant player he once was. The big question marks are the fact that he is on the wrong side of 30 now and he has undergone two surgeries on that left knee in a span of 14 months. It's tough to see him really becoming the player he once was in the near future.

Why this LSU football transfer could be the Tigers' most important player in 2025

A crown jewel of LSU football's top-rated transfer portal haul was cornerback Mansoor Delane. Delane, who spent the first three years of his career at Virginia Tech, was ranked as the No. 4 corner and No. 52 overall player in the transfer portal according to On3's Industry Rankings. LSU's secondary struggled in 2023 and 2024. In 2023, LSU tried to rebuild the room through the transfer portal. Expectations were high for a handful of talented players, but a combination of injuries and busts led to a disappointing year. In 2024, LSU was less reliant on the portal, opting for homegrown talent. The secondary took a step forward, but the inexperience showed. LSU went looking for transfer portal cornerbacks again this year, landing Delane along with ex-Florida cornerback Ja'Keem Jackson. Delane just might be the most important player on LSU's defense. Zy Alexander was a bright spot of LSU's defense last year. Playing the boundary corner role, he was among the SEC's best defenders. That's a big hole to fill, but LSU trusts Delane in that spot. LSU DC Blake Baker wants to play man coverage. That requires cornerbacks who can hold up vs. the SEC's best pass catchers in man coverage. Delane ranked No. 7 among ACC cornerbacks in 2024 with an allowed completion rate of 47.2%. Offenses were quick to throw at Delane, targeting him 72 times in 2024. He's good at the point of attack with 11 career PBU's and six picks. If Delane is left alone in 2024, he'll be heavily targeted again, but Delane has proven he can hold his own. Delane brings over 1,800 snaps of Power Four experience to LSU's defense. That's just what the Tigers need after losing their most experienced corner. In recent years, LSU has taken risks with its secondary additions. Delane is a safe bet with a high floor. While Delane will see most of his time at corner, LSU won't be afraid to move him around. "Soor is a guy we can put all over the secondary," Baker said, "He could be a corner, safety, nickel, dime." Delane is a floor raiser for this unit. His versatility and experience allow LSU to make the most of its personnel elsewhere. That's needed with a few questions remaining on this unit. Delane was a third-team All-ACC in 2024. Don't be surprised to see the veteran LSU corner competing for an All-SEC spot in 2025. "Mansoor Delane has been very, very, I think impactful at the cornerback position," LSU head coach Brian Kelly said in February.

Predicting a Steelers trade package for Cowboys' Micah Parsons after official request

Micah Parsons' trade request has sparked rumors and speculation galore — but his viral Steelers comments from several months ago are the true hidden gem. It begs the question: could Pittsburgh actually acquire the superstar defender? Although it remains to be seen if the Cowboys will honor Parsons' request, if the Steelers were to offer a trade package, they'd need to send Dallas his replacement while also offloading a high contract — which is where EDGE Alex Highsmith comes into play. If the Steelers dealt Highsmith and his cap hits over the next three seasons of $18.6 million, $20.1 million, and $21.1 million, they could theoretically pay Parsons the top edge rusher money he's looking for — but may need to offer the Cowboys some additional premium draft picks as well. Here is a look at a completely hypothetical trade package that sends the Cowboys' star edge rusher to a destination he admittedly prefers: Steelers receive: Cowboys receive: The price to pay is undoubtedly steep — but there's no question the Steelers would boast an even more devastating pass rush with All-Pro DT Cameron Heyward on the interior and the edge rush duo of Parsons and former 2021 Defensive Player of the Year T.J. Watt. For up-to-date Steelers coverage, follow us on X @TheSteelersWire and give our Facebook page a like.
