Grandmother of murder victim urges end to gun violence after tragic shooting
She spoke with Channel 9's Hunter Saenz about the final memory she shared with him.

Ernestine Steele said the day before her grandson Alvin Steele's death, he dropped by her house with a card for Mother's Day.
She said it was a memory she now has to cherish and hold onto dearly.
'As a person, Alvin was loving. He loved animals, and he loved people. He was very loving, always respectful,' Ernestine said.
On May 12, Alvin's life came to a tragic end at a motel on Lucky Penny Street.
According to court documents, his girlfriend found him shot multiple times in his room, covered by a sheet and pillow.
Investigators said Tyler Minor, who was staying with the Alvin, called 911 and said he shot his friend.
Minor's father then tried to turn him in, but he jumped out of his car on the way to the police station. He was arrested on Wednesday and charged with murder.
Police said the incident was sparked because of a girl. However, Alvin's grandmother said she couldn't make sense of this.
'Just put the guns down, you know. If we have grievances, try to talk. Try to go to somebody, but we've got to put the guns down. I mean, we're killing everybody,' said Ernestine.
Ernestine said Alvin leaves behind two young daughters.
Meanwhile, the suspect in this case was given no bond on Thursday after facing a judge.

Seminole High Student arrested after security guard says she was attacked; mother disputes claim
A Seminole High School security guard says she was attacked by a student during a large fight on campus this week. That student, 18-year-old Tyshawn Ellison, was arrested and charged with battery. Channel 9 obtained multiple videos showing Tuesday's fight, where several students were seen punching each other. Ellison, wearing a white shirt and light jeans in the footage, can be seen running toward another teen during the brawl. 'He fought. I understand that. He was on school campus, so he broke a rule,' said Darlene Ellison, Tyshawn's mother, who spoke exclusively with Channel 9. 'But did your son batter this woman?' Channel 9's Geovany Dias asked. 'No. No, he did not,' she added. The security guard, identified as Ms. Cypress, told police in a sworn statement that Ellison pushed her and began a physical altercation. That statement led to his arrest. Ellison's mother says, however, the videos, recorded by students at the scene, show a different story. 'So, they say my son got into an altercation with another boy, and his friends got in an altercation with some other boys — all at one time,' she explained. 'It was a whole bunch of kids fighting.' Ms. Ellison said she has already handed those videos over to Sanford police. One slowed-down version of clip obtained shows Ellison pointing in the distance as the guard extends her arm toward him. It's unclear what happened before or after that moment. The mother said that's why she believes the accusations don't add up. 'I don't want no felony on my son's record for something that he did not do,' Ms. Ellison said. 'I want them to get that security guard off that campus.' Sanford Police said they established probable cause for Ellison's arrest based on sworn statements. Seminole County Public Schools said the case is now being handled by police. Authorities tracking down reckless e-bike riders causing chaos in Birkdale Village
A group of young, reckless drivers is causing concerns for authorities and business owners in Birkdale Village. Police said they are trying to track down a few reckless e-bike riders who they say are juveniles. One young rider told Channel 9's Dave Faherty that his bike can reach speeds in excess of 50 miles an hour. And local parents say these bikes can be dangerous. READ: CMPD cracks down on reckless bike groups accused of multiple crimes around uptown Mark Gossett said he is packing his daughter's bicycle for college, but it is the e-bike traffic in his neighborhood that is getting a lot of attention. 'Run up and down the street,' he said. 'Fly through the stop sign. I've seen them leave Birkdale Village and go up and down 73.' Huntersville Police posted several photos on Facebook of what they believe to be several juveniles traveling too fast for foot traffic in the village that attracts thousands of visitors each day. 'I think more of the concern is there are multiple of them and you can't even get by sometimes,' one neighbor, Ellie Kwasniewicz, said. Cornelius's PEDEGO Electric Bike store has bikes for sale out front. Its owner, Shawn Gantkowski, told Faherty that bikes going over 28 miles per hour are no longer classified as e-bikes and require a license and insurance, even if they are equipped with pedals. 'There needs to be enforcement,' Gantkowski said. 'The parents need to be aware that it takes a split second for someone's life to be changed upside down.' Kiki Daniels said she loves riding e-bikes on trails, but it's important for parents to be involved. 'With any equipment like this, whether it's a scooter or a bike... safety is number one,' she said. Police told Faherty that they would like to meet with the parents and these young people involved to make sure everyone in the area stays safe. Bodycam shows Powerball winner being arrested a day after collecting $167M prize
'It's going to be a good Mother's Day,' James Farthing's mother, Linda Grizzle, told lottery officials when they collected the $167 million prize. 'This is going to pay off my debt.' Body camera footage from a Florida police officer shows a Kentucky Powerball jackpot winner, who collected his prize just hours before, getting arrested for allegedly kicking an officer in the face during a fight. James Farthing and his girlfriend, Jacqueline Fightmaster, were arrested at the TradeWinds Resort in St. Pete Beach, Florida, in April, according to an arrest affidavit and court records obtained and reviewed by USA TODAY. Farthing, 50, is accused of punching another hotel guest in the face during an argument. A Pinellas County Sheriff's deputy was trying to break up the fight when Farthing kicked him in the face, causing swelling and redness, the affidavit said. Police accuse Farthing of trying to flee the scene. He was apprehended later, as seen in the bodycam footage from April. According to a separate arrest affidavit, Farthing's girlfriend is accused of trying to fight other patrons in the resort bar. 'She appeared very intoxicated and was yelling, screaming and making incoherent statements,' the affidavit reads. Farthing is charged with one felony count of battery on a law enforcement officer and two misdemeanor counts of battery and resisting an officer, according to online court records.
