BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — It's all about Agriculture this week as the country celebrates National Ag Week.
School officials respond to federal cuts on locally grown food programs
According to the West Virginia Department of Economic Development, in 2022 agriculture products generated more than $900 million for the state's economy.
While there are a few big producers in the state, like United Dairy and Perdue Chicken, most of the state's more than 22,000 farms are small productions.
Even the average home grower can contribute to the state's agriculture economy.
Keith Richmond, County Executive Director for the Raleigh County, said it's easy.
'If you're raising a garden, you got a little bit extra, take it to the farmer's market, set up alongside of the road and sell it. It's a way that provides a little bit of income, plus it's putting stuff right back into the local economy,' said Richmond.
Farmer's markets in the area are always looking for suppliers, said Richmond, because the demand for homegrown produce and products made from them is very high.
With the spotlight on West Virginia's agricultural heritage featured this week, look to your local farms and reach out in support.

City of Indianapolis and Marion County Roll Out Euna Payments' PayLink to Bridge the Digital Divide Between In-Person and Online Payments

ATLANTA & TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Euna Solutions ®, a leading provider of purpose-built, cloud-based solutions for the public sector, today announced that the City of Indianapolis and Marion County have successfully implemented PayLink, a feature of Euna Payments, designed to make government payments more secure, intuitive, and cost-effective. With this latest addition to its payment infrastructure, the City-County continues to lead the way in modernizing payment services across departments, helping its agencies save time while empowering residents with a simple, remote way to pay for government services without in-person visits or complex portals. 'This solution solves two major issues for us—compliance with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) security standard and physical accessibility,' said Meg Richmond, Application Services Manager, City of Indianapolis-Marion County's Information Services Agency. Share The City of Indianapolis-Marion County began working with Euna Solutions in 2016, initially implementing Euna Payments: Online Payments and later expanding to Euna Payments: Cashiering, Euna Payments: Kiosks, and now adding the PayLink feature to Cashiering. Today, 12 City-County agencies use the Euna platform, processing over $19 million in monthly transactions through a centralized, cloud-based system. PayLink is part of Euna Payments: Cashiering. It allows city and county staff to send secure payment links to customers via SMS or email, enabling transactions to be completed from any device, at any time. According to Meg Richmond, Application Services Manager for the City of Indianapolis-Marion County's Information Services Agency, the technology has been particularly valuable to constituents who have difficulty reaching agency offices or were forced to wait in long lines at the City-County Building just to pay a bill. 'This solution solves two major issues for us—compliance with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) security standard and physical accessibility,' said Richmond. 'It lets people pay when and where it works for them, and it streamlines the process for employees.' With PayLink, staff benefit from lower compliance risk and easier reconciliation, all while guiding residents to more cost-effective digital channels without removing essential in-person payment options. For example, Euna's digital channel, Online Payments, allows residents to save payment data for future transactions. This feature benefits both the resident, as they save time by avoiding re-entering financial information, and the agency, as there is an increased chance residents will make their payments. 'Indianapolis and Marion County are setting a new standard for how governments can make services more accessible for everyone,' said Brian Haney, Chief Customer Officer of Euna Solutions. 'Access to modern government services should never depend on digital fluency, physical proximity, or time of day. PayLink bridges the digital divide by providing inclusive, secure payment access to all residents.' Learn more how Indianapolis and Marion County are using Euna Payments.
