UFC 314: Jean Silva's Win Triggers a Bet With Permanent Consequences

Yahoo14-04-2025

In combat sports, side bets and wild challenges are almost as common as post-fight callouts. Whether it's a chunk of cash, a shaved head, or social media embarrassment, there's usually some sort of wager floating around. But at UFC 314, a promise made in a pre-fight interview turned into a full-blown tattoo session. What started as a bold prediction quickly became a story fans won't forget anytime soon.
According to Full Send MMA and shared online by Kevin, Shawny Mack—known by fans as 'OGShawnyMack'—followed through on a hilarious pre-fight bet. In an interview before the event, Mack told rising UFC star Jean Silva that if Silva knocked out Bryce Mitchell, he'd get Silva's face tattooed on his body. Silva didn't just agree—he demanded Mack get it done by Sunday. While Silva didn't get the KO, he did dominate Mitchell with a second-round ninja choke, earning a Performance of the Night bonus. The result? Mack now sports Jean Silva's face on his right leg.
And it didn't stop there. In a twist of mutual commitment, Silva also got a tattoo of the Full Send logo on his left leg, solidifying the moment with ink from both sides. For those unfamiliar, Full Send MMA is the combat sports wing of the Full Send brand—a media empire built by the Nelk Boys that blends wild antics with serious sports content. The group is known for high-energy content, viral interviews, and a growing presence across UFC events.

From interviews to ink, UFC 314 just delivered one of the most entertaining side plots of the year.

Andreas Gustafsson took back-to-back weight cuts in stride at UFC 316: 'That's life' Show Caption Hide Caption UFC 316: Andreas Gustafsson post-fight interview UFC 316 winner Andreas Gustafsson spoke to MMA Junkie and reporters post-fight after his unanimous decision victory over Khaos Williams. NEWARK, N.J. – Andreas Gustafsson met the media Saturday after his win over Khaos Williams at UFC 316. Gustafsson (12-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) took a unanimous decision from Williams (15-5 MMA, 6-4 UFC) on the preliminary card at Prudential Center. He was an underdog in the fight, but also took the matchup on a week's notice. Gustafsson was set to fight a week prior against Jeremiah Wells, but had an opponent switch to Trevin Giles on short notice. Then Giles suffered an injury on weigh-in day that canceled the fight. Gustafsson got pushed to a bigger event at UFC 316, but had to endure the drama of changing matchups and the annoyance of back-to-back weight cuts. 'It's a long and never-ending fight week – the first week when you have weight, and then you have to start over,' Gustafsson said at his post-fight news conference. 'That's life. It feels great (to win).' Check out Gustafsson's post-fight news conference in the video above.

Wang Cong wanted more 'Joker' at UFC 316, but still chasing Valentina Shevchenko rematch Show Caption Hide Caption UFC 316: Wang Cong post-fight interview UFC 316 winner Wang Cong spoke to MMA Junkie and reporters post-fight after her unanimous decision victory over Ariane da Silva. NEWARK, N.J. – Wang Cong met the media Saturday after her win over Ariane da Silva at UFC 316. Cong (8-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) outworked da Silva (17-11 MMA, 6-8 UFC) for a unanimous decision on the preliminary card at Prudential Center. The fight was marred by a huge weight miss from da Silva – 7 pounds – and subsequent 25 percent penalty paid to Cong. But she said she should have finished da Silva and should have been 'crazy like 'The Joker.'' A decade ago, Cong beat current UFC women's flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko in a kickboxing match, and now has her sights set on her in MMA. 'I feel like this fight showed where I am, and I'm ready to go back and train crazy,' Cong said through her translator after the win. Check out Cong's post-fight news conference in the video above.
