'Saiyaara' beats Bollywood's blockbusters
While many recent films have leaned on the appeal of star actors, 'Saiyaara' is succeeding thanks to its strong storyline, emotional depth, and engaging music.
The film has outperformed major releases like 'Dunki,' featuring Shah Rukh Khan's comeback alongside Rajkumar Hirani, and 'Singham Again,' which saw the return of the Ajay Devgn–Rohit Shetty duo.
Additionally, 'Saiyaara' has surpassed popular movies such as 'Drishyam 2' (Rs 239.67 crore), 'The Kerala Story' (Rs 239.05 crore), and 'Krrish 3' (Rs 231.79 crore). It is currently just above the earnings of 'URI: The Surgical Strike' (Rs 244.14 crore), which was previously regarded as an all-time blockbuster.

Tough competition ahead
If the romantic drama continues at the same pace, the film might soon join the Rs 300 crore club. Further, while 'Saiyaara' is maintaining a strong hold at the box office, numbers might get affected by the new releases scheduled for this week. On 1st August, two new films, 'Dhadak 2' and 'Son of Sardaar 2', will make it to the theatres. The former is an intense drama, while the latter is a comedy riot.

Pinkvilla Predicts: Opening day Hindi net box office collections for War 2, Coolie, Param Sundari, Dhurandhar, and The Raja Saab

The Indian cinema has some very exciting releases over the next few months. Fans are eagerly waiting for action-packed thrillers, romantic comedies, and horror-comedy dramas. Pinkvilla predicts the opening day India Hindi nett collections for War 2, Coolie, Param Sundari, Dhurandhar, and The Raja Saab. Here's what we expect these films to earn on their first day. Upcoming Movies And Their Expected Day 1 India Net Hindi Collections 1. War 2: August 14, 2025 Predicted Opening: Rs 50.00 crore to Rs 52.00 crore War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji, is the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War. Starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani, this action thriller is part of YRF's Spy Universe. The trailer has created huge buzz with its high-octane action and star power. Despite clashing with Coolie, the film's release on August 14, 2025, during the Independence Day weekend, should boost its numbers. We predict a massive opening of Rs 50.00 crore to Rs 52.00 crore for the Hindi version, driven by its pan-India appeal and premium formats like IMAX and Dolby Cinema. 2. Coolie (Hindi): August 14, 2025 Predicted Opening: Rs 3.25 crore to Rs 3.75 crore Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is a Tamil action thriller starring Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, and Shruti Haasan, with a cameo by Aamir Khan. The Hindi-dubbed version releases on August 14, 2025, clashing with War 2. The film's gritty action and emotional storytelling are generating buzz, especially in urban multiplexes. However, the clash may limit its Hindi market share. We expect Coolie to open between Rs 3.25 crore and Rs 3.75 crore in Hindi net collections, with potential to grow if word of mouth is strong. 3. Param Sundari: August 29, 2025 Predicted Opening: Rs 11.00 crore to Rs 12.00 crore Param Sundari, directed by Tushar Jalota, stars Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor. This romantic comedy, set in Kerala, releases on August 29, 2025. Its cross-cultural love story and the catchy song Pardesiya have created good pre-release buzz. The film targets youth and family audiences, which could help it perform well in multiplexes. We predict an opening day collection of Rs 11.00 crore to Rs 12.00 crore, with positive reviews likely to push its weekend numbers higher. 4. Dhurandhar: December 5, 2025 Predicted Opening: Rs 21.50 crore to Rs 22.50 crore Dhurandhar, a Ranveer Singh starrer, is an action-comedy directed by Raj Kumar Gupta. Set to release in 2025, the film has generated mixed-to-positive buzz due to its quirky premise and Ranveer's energetic performance. The movie's mass appeal and action-packed trailer could attract audiences in both multiplexes and single screens. We predict an opening day collection of Rs 21.50 crore to Rs 22.50 crore for the Hindi version. 5. The Raja Saab: December 5, 2025 Predicted Opening: Rs 10.00 crore to Rs 12.00 crore The Raja Saab, directed by Maruthi, stars Prabhas, Malavika Mohanan, and Sanjay Dutt. This horror-comedy with romantic elements releases on December 5, 2025, in multiple languages, including Hindi. Prabhas' star power and the film's unique blend of horror, comedy, and romance have created strong buzz. Horror-comedies like Stree 2 have done well in Hindi markets, and we expect The Raja Saab to open between Rs 10.00 crore and Rs 12.00 crore in Hindi net collections.

Ahaan Panday, Ravie Dubey and the emergence of new hero in Bollywood

For decades, Bollywood's leading men have largely come from familiar lineages. The Khans and Kapoors have not only dominated the box office but shaped the very definition of a Hindi film 'hero.' Their presence continues to be vital, and their star power remains undisputed. But slowly, and significantly, the gates seem to be opening for Panday's debut in 'Saiyaara' is a case in point. Arriving with modest publicity and relatively low expectations, the film caught the industry off guard. Ahaan's performance, while not loud or calculated, had a certain sincerity that connected. It signalled the arrival of a young actor not defined by his last name, but by what he brought to the screen, a refreshing departure from formulaic more telling is the casting of Ravie Dubey as Lakshman in 'Ramayana', which is being widely described as the biggest Indian film ever in the making. For someone who has built his career outside the traditional Bollywood system, through television, digital platforms, and steady performances, this casting choice felt earned. And it sparked genuine enthusiasm among fans, not just for the film, but for the idea of merit-based opportunity. This isn't about displacing the stars who came before. It's about believing in the evolution of the ecosystem. The emergence of actors like Panday and Dubey doesn't challenge their legacy but complements it. Bollywood has always been at its best when it allows space for both established and emerging talents. Perhaps it's finally getting a quiet shift underway. One where the idea of heroism is no longer limited only to physicality or legacy, but also to craft, credibility, and connection. The Hindi film hero today doesn't need to walk in slow motion, deliver punchlines, or carry the weight of dynasties on his shoulders. Sometimes, he just needs to belong to the story, and not overwhelm like Ahaan and Ravie represent that shift. They come without the trappings of entitlement, without the choreography of a hundred camera angles announcing their arrival. Instead, they arrive with a kind of earned stillness - a willingness to build slowly, to be seen for what they do rather than where they come from.- Ends

When Shah Rukh Khan Said He Should Have Won The National Award That Saif Ali Khan Got For Hum Tum

New Delhi: While the Internet and the film fraternity are ecstatic with Shah Rukh Khan winning the National Award for Best Actor for Jawan, some do believe that it was the 2004 film Swades that deserved it more. Shah Rukh Khan seemed to have agreed, as an old interview has now resurfaced where the actor said that he deserved to win the honour that year. Shah Rukh Khan had lost the National Award to Saif Ali Khan for Hum Tum in 2004. What's Happening In an event held back in 2000, a snippet of Shah Rukh Khan with filmmaker Kunal Kohli and actress Mandira Bedi has resurfaced online after the superstar's National Award win recently. When asked about his most-liked films of Kunal Kohli back at the event, Shah Rukh Khan had spoken about Hum Tum and Saif Ali Khan winning the National Award. The actor had hilariously added, " Fanaa was very good. I think Hum Tum was very nice. His actor won the National Award for Hum Tum when I think I should have got it, but that's another story." Furthermore, talking about his favourite films, Shah Rukh Khan said, "See, main dil ka bahut acha hoon. Saari filmein achi lagti hain, saare heroes ache lagte hain, saari heroines achi lagti hain, har cheez achi lagti hai (I am good by heart. I like all films, all heroes, and all heroines). I am a simple-minded person; I like everything, including your films. I have loved them all." How Fans Reacted Some Shah Rukh Khan fans seemed to agree with the actor's remark made in good humour. One comment read, "Agreed here. I can't fathom how even Hum Tum was considered for Saif to get the award. I've watched Hum Tum, and I like it, but did I believe it was what makes Saif National Award worthy? No, absolutely not!" Another Internet user wrote, "He truly deserved it for Swades, tbh." One Reddit user said, "What a pity. Although Swades without an award is no less. But it would have been such a great moment for him and would've somehow healed some of the scars of Swades' BO failure. Might have made him choose similar films at least one more time, which he never did because of Swades' BO failure." In A Nutshell An old video of Shah Rukh Khan talking about losing out on a National Award for Swades to Saif Ali Khan for Hum Tum has been making the rounds in light of his latest win. This year, one of the biggest highlights was SRK winning his first-ever National Award. The actor bagged the Best Actor award for his role in the blockbuster film Jawan. Known for his long and successful career, this win is seen as a special moment for the superstar and, not to forget, his "diehard fans." SRK shared the Best Actor award with Vikrant Massey, who was honoured for his performance in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 12th Fail at the 71st National Awards.
