We hit 77 in our Raiders countdown to kickoff. Who wore it best and who's wearing it now

USA Today4 hours ago

We've reached 77 days until the Raiders season opener at Foxboro against the Patriots, With our countdown at 77 days we take a look at who currently dons the number in Silver & Black and who has brought it the most distinction.
No. 77
Who's wearing it now: T Thayer Munford
Munford was the final pick for the Raiders in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He was considered a mid-round level talent going into the draft, so getting the standout Ohio State product at pick 238 was considered a good get. Coming into last season, he was given every opportunity to be the team's starting right tackle, but couldn't hold onto it. He got injured in camp as well as the season and was outplayed by rookie third round pick DJ Glaze. These days the team is trying Munford at guard to see if he can carve out and NFL career there.
Who wore it best: DE Ike Lassiter
Lassiter came to the Raiders in 1965 after three years in Denver. Each of his five years with the Raiders, he put up double digit sacks including the Raiders 1967 AFL Championship season in which they faced the Packers in Super Bowl II. That season, Lassiter was a holy terror off the edge, putting up 17 sacks and heading to the Pro Bowl and named a second-team All Pro. Two seasons later, he put up 15 sacks and was once again a second team All Pro. In total he had 61.5 sacks in five seasons. If sacks had been an official stat at that time, that would be good for third in Raiders franchise history.
Honorable Mention: DE Lyle Alzado
Alzado spent the final four seasons of his 15-year NFL career with the Raiders. He joined the team at the age of 33 and in his second season, he was a big part of the Raiders third Super Bowl win.

Is There Hope For Giants In 2025 After Strong Offseason?

Is There Hope For Giants In 2025 After Strong Offseason? originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Up until recently… The New York Giants had more holes on their roster than any of their biggest rivals. It should therefore come as no surprise that the team was able to improve its roster more than its rivals. New York added a top edge rusher in Abdul Carter with the third overall pick. They also signed a strong starting cornerback in Paulson Adebo. Advertisement Is there finally fan base hope that the Giants can turn around their fortunes? New York's most significant problems have rested at the quarterback position and along the offensive line. Injuries derailed New York's line to the point where few quarterbacks could succeed. They believe another offseason with top assistant coach Carmen Bricillo can do wonders. Now about the quarterback position. … Russell Wilson is a Super Bowl winner and has the numbers any team looks for in a veteran stopgap. However, his recent struggles with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Denver Broncos have significantly hurt his legacy. Advertisement If Wilson wants to save his career, this may be his last chance with New York. Then there is rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart. The Ole Miss prospect attended the same school as Eli Manning, and is even more mobile than the two-time Super Bowl winner. His development, both on and off the field, could save head coach Brian Daboll's job. That would require him to see the field early on, though. In the end, a tough schedule won't make things easy for the Giants this season. If they can use some of the new additions they brought in to bolster their roster, this team may be better than many people think. Travis Hunter signs rookie contract with Jaguars after delay through minicamp, will receive $30.6M bonus up front

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA - JUNE 2: Travis Hunter #12 of the Jacksonville Jaguars works out during a NFL Organized Team Activities (OTAs) offseason practice at Miller Electric Center on June 2, 2025 in Jacksonville, Florida. (Photo by) It's official. Travis Hunter is a Jacksonville Jaguar. The two-way star has signed his contract with the Jaguars. The team announced the deal on Sunday. Only details of the contract were negotiable. Per the NFL's collective bargaining agreement, rookie contract values are predetermined based on draft slot. As the No. 2 pick in April's NFL Draft, Hunter is due $46.65 that is fully guaranteed over four years. The Jaguars will have a fifth-year option. Advertisement Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Hunter will receive his entire $30.57 million signing bonus up front. According to the report, Hunter is the first non-quarterback who wasn't drafted first overall to negotiate payment of his entire signing bonus at the front of his contract. There was little doubt that the contract would be signed. But Hunter's signatures ends a delay in getting a deal done that extended through OTAs and mandatory minicamp. Now the specter of a holdout has been removed ahead of Jaguars training camp, which starts on July 19 when Hunter and his fellow rookies are due to report. The previous lack of a deal did not stop Hunter from taking partin offseason practice sessions. Hunter was a participant in OTAs and in minicamp, critical sessions for rookies to get acclimated to the NFL and their new teammates. This story will be updated.

(AP Photo/John Raoux) JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Two-way college star and reigning Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, the second overall pick in April's NFL draft, signed a four-year, $46.6 million contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. The deal includes a $30.5 million signing bonus. Advertisement Hunter had been one of three unsigned first-round picks, including Cincinnati edge rusher Shemar Stewart (17th overall) and Denver cornerback Jahdae Barron (20th). Under the NFL's slotting system, Hunter is expected to get $840,000 in base salary as a rookie, with his contract rising to $2.96 million in Year 2, $5.08 million in his third season and $7.20 million in his fourth. Like all first-round draft picks, Hunter's deal includes a club option for a fifth year. The Jaguars traded up three spots to select the former Colorado standout in the draft and are counting on him to help change the fate of the floundering franchise. And they expect him to play both receiver and cornerback as he did at Colorado and Jackson State. Hunter caught 96 passes for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns last season for the Buffaloes and notched 35 tackles, 11 pass breakups, eight forced incompletions and four interceptions while allowing just one touchdown. Advertisement The Jaguars traded up three spots to draft Hunter and intend to use him on both sides of the ball this fall, planning to have him working as a slot receiver on offense and as a cornerback in certain packages on defense. It's familiar territory for someone who played more snaps (1,461) than anyone else in college football in 2024. ___ AP NFL:
