The curse of the Mucky Mansion: As Princess Andre brands home 'a really scary place' and Katie Price admits it was the root of all her troubles - here's what went on behind closed doors
Yet it's not just Princess who has an issue with the West Sussex property, with her mother Katie Price branding the place 'cursed' last year, when she was evicted by bailiffs for failing to keep up on her mortgage repayments.
The glamour model exclusively told Daily Mail that she believed the home was the root of her problems following years of issues, including break ins, numerous pets dying, and even reports of 'seeing ghosts'.
Katie claimed the home, which she lived in for a decade, was 'hell' and left her battling anxiety and overcome by panic attacks which forced her into therapy.
She bought the detached, nine-bedroom pile, which became renowned for its state and even subject of a reality show, for £2 million in 2014.
Katie finally sold the property in December 2024 for £1.5 million amid her financial woes. She didn't see a penny for the sale as it was swallowed up by the debts she previously ran up against the home.
After leaving the property, she issued an ominous warning to the new owners, telling Daily Mail: 'I hate that house. Whoever buys it, I warn them, they will get bad luck there'.
She continued: 'It is absolute cursed. My anxiety got worse with that house. There was a point when I couldn't even walk up the driveway without having a panic attack'.
'I had therapy about the house. I should never have gone back there. Now I'm out of it it's the best thing I've ever done.'
Katie also spoke in the past about her fears that the home is haunted by the spirit of a small child, while a number of her pets have died in the property.
In 2024 Katie shared pictures of two men she feared were trying to break into the Mansion - just days after she was forced to call police over another gang of strangers outside her home.
She posted alarming doorbell footage on Instagram of an intruder approaching the front door before walking away.
Katie followed it up with a picture of him and a second man as well as a photo of a white Ford they had parked on her driveway.
Sussex Police told Daily Mail at the time that it had received a report of 'suspicious behaviour involving a possible break-in' at around 9pm.
The two men were searched and given 'words of advice' before being released after no items were found, police said.
It marked the latest incident to take place at the Mucky Mansion, which became the subject of a Channel 4 documentary when she attempted to install life back into the property for the last time.
Katie also revealed how someone had snuck into her property in the middle of the night and splashed a corrosive substance over the Range Rover which had some of its pink paint stripped off.
She revealed: 'There is 24 hour security now at the property for protection.'
Ahead of her departure from her former home last May, a source said: 'Katie has been dreading this day for so long but now it is here, she can't wait to leave.
'The house has caused her so much grief and was too much to handle on her own. With work and the kids it all became too much in recent years. And she's convinced it's haunted.'
During her time living at her Mucky Mansion Katie's treatment of animals also came under scrutiny after five dogs, a horse, and a chameleon all died while in her care - many of them in traffic accidents near the property.
She attributed these tragedies to 'bad luck,' with most occurring while she was away. She has since secured the garden of her new home to ensure her pets' safety.
Responding to people who say she shouldn't own animals, Katie told The Sun: 'When people say I shouldn't have animals, it's circumstances that were out of my hands.
'It's no lack of me not looking after them or anything like that. I love animals, I love nurturing.'
In 2024 Katie shared pictures of two men she feared were trying to break into the Mansion - just days after she was forced to call police over another gang of strangers outside her home
After reports that Katie had given away her puppy Tank due to 'losing interest,' PETA penned an open letter to her in February 2024.
They offered her £5,000 if she signs a contract to not acquire another animal.
'While your intentions may be good, the ever-growing number of animals who have either died under your supervision or been given away is impossible to ignore, and people are rightly concerned,' PETA Vice President Elisa Allen wrote, in the letter shared by The Sun.
'Whatever you may offer as reasons for their suffering, relinquishment, or demise, the fact is that you are consistently harming these sensitive, sentient individuals, and I hope you agree that this is a solution.'
PETA added: 'things have gone horribly wrong with many of the animals under her supervision'.
In response to the open letter, a representative of Katie's told MailOnline: 'Katie has asked PETA many times to have a conversation with her directly, but instead they continue to play the narrative out in the media.'
'If they want to have a direct conversation with Kate they can get in touch.'
'Isn't it a waste of charity money or have they got funds available to give out to celebrities, which should be going towards animals?'
Leading animal charity PETA has previously slammed Katie after her seventh pet died in her care - saying she has 'blood on her hands'.
On the 'chaotic' life at Katie's Sussex home, which has become famous for its dilapidated state and repossessions, Princess admitted 'bad experiences' happened in the house: 'It was a really scary house. A lot went on there. So I didn't really like it.'
While Princess did not specify what her own experiences were, Katie has famously sworn the home is haunted while also being victim of attacks on her home.
Reflecting on the house, Princess said: 'No. It was a really scary house. A lot went on there. So I didn't really like it. I guess when you have bad experiences somewhere you don't like the place.'
Discussing contrasts of life at her parents' respective homes, Princess went on: 'Dad's house is a lot quieter, a lot more peaceful, a lot more organised. Whereas my mum's house is much more just do what you want...
'I love being in the middle. I love the two different houses, because if I fancy a bit more chaotic and busy I'll go to Mum's and if I fancy more relaxed I'll go to Dad's.'
Princess went on to reflect on her mum and dad's fractious relationship, in the wake of scandal surrounding her absence on the reality show.
UNNAMED HORSE (2017)
One of Katie's horses was tragically struck and killed by a car on the A24 in November 2017, after escaping from its field.
She shared a photo of the car with its smashed up windscreen to her Instagram, writing: 'Last night our friends horses including one of ours escaped from their field and ran onto the road we are devastated.
'We are extremely upset to find out one of our horses was killed last night being hit by a car...
'Thank god the driver of this car was very lucky and escaped and wish him well, police were amazing and so was the local community and thank them all!
'Our friends other four horses thank god are alive with a couple of them injured and are still being treated by the vet and will be ok!'
DOBBY AND HAGRID (2017)
Katie owned two Sphynx cats named Dobby and Hagrid after the characters from Harry Potter.
However, in December 2017 she said she was selling them for £1,300 each because her dogs didn't get on with them.
She continued to post photos of the cats on Instagram until 2021, so it is unclear whether she sold them.
Katie was left 'devastated' after her German Shepherd, Queenie, was killed in a hit and run accident.
The dog was gifted to her on her 36th birthday by her now ex-husband Kieran Hayler.
In a since deleted Instagram post, Katie said Queenie was hit by a 'heartless' delivery driver who left the dog to die.
She wrote: 'I'm absolutely devastated heartbroken my faithful loving family dogs life Queenie has been shortlived as she was killed by a heartless delivery driver who ran into our dog seeing her struggle and drove off without telling and left her to die.
'Very disappointed a human being can be this heartless! Security cameras show this and we have reported to police! DEVASTATED is a understatement.'
MARVIN (2018)
Katie has owned a string of different animals, and even had a pet chameleon named Marvin.
However, Marvin died in November 2018 with Katie allegedly claiming the lizard died 'of a broken heart' after her son Junior moved in with his dad Peter Andre.
A source close to the star told The Sun: 'Marvin didn't go with Junior when he moved in with his dad over the summer. And now Katie thinks that the reptile has died of a broken heart.'
But the insider added: 'However, with all of her money troubles Katie has been unable to heat her mansion, and chameleons needs to be warm at all times.'
They also revealed she had wanted to keep the children's pets at her house, as she hoped it would mean the kids would visit her more.
They said: 'Katie is blaming Peter for Marvin's death as she claims that he wouldn't take Junior and Princess's pets when they moved in with him.
'But Katie didn't want him to take them as she thought the children would visit her more if the pets stayed with her.
'The whole family has been left devastated by Marvin's death, but especially Junior - he is heartbroken.'
While a source close to Peter said: 'He was never asked to look after it. It's outrageous that she's blaming him.'
PEGGY (2019)
Katie sparked backlash from fans in February 2019, after gifting her daughter Princess with a pet hedgehog.
Fans slammed Katie for bringing the spikey mammal, named Peggy, into her home with her dogs, saying Peggy would be 'terrified'.
In October of that year, Katie then lost Peggy for two weeks in her 'Mucky Mansion'.
In a YouTube tour of her home, she admitted the hedgehog had gone missing somewhere in the house.
A source later revealed that she had since found Peggy again, saying: 'Peggy is back - Katie always knew she'd find her again.'
BEAR (2019)
Katie bought another Alsatian named Bear in November 2018 for £1,000, who is the half-sister of Sparkle.
However, she gave away the dog only six months later in April 2019 after he had three near death experiences in a matter of weeks.
Both Bear and Sparkle kept escaping from her house and were nearly run over several times.
In February 2019, Bear ran onto a busy dual carriageway but was luckily saved by a passerby who took him to a vet.
The following month, he escaped again and was rescued by a passing police officer near the A24.
Katie eventually rehomed Bear in April, with a source telling The Sun: 'Bear kept getting out on the main road and Katie doesn't want to risk him getting hurt or worse.
'A breeder is going to have him neutered and find him a permanent loving home, and Katie will still have plenty of pets around to keep her company.'
Katie's third Alsatian, Sparkle, tragically passed away in a very similar way to her late German shepherd Queenie.
The dog allegedly escaped from the star's home and was hit by a car on the A24, near her 'Mucky Mansion', the same road that Bear was nearly run over on.
Sharing the news on Instagram, Katie said: 'Hey guys, really f***ed off this morning. I've just woken up to realise that one of my dogs has been killed on the road.
'I've just checked with the neighbours and everything seems to be how it was when they left the dogs so I don't know how they escaped but yeah, one of my Alsatians has been hit and killed.
'I was away last night with my PA and I left my neighbours to feed the dogs because that's what they do when I'm not there.
She added: 'Obviously something has happened in the night.'
ROLO (2020)
Katie's pet dog Rolo suffocated at her home after apparently getting trapped in an electric armchair.
Despite receiving CPR, the French bulldog - a gift for daughter Princess's 13th birthday - could not be saved.
Katie told YouTube followers: 'There was nothing they could do, but they did say he wouldn't have died in pain, it was quick.'
The dog had only been with the family for a few weeks before its tragic death leading to anger from the public towards Katie and the breeders who sold her the puppy.
The breeders took to their Instagram to defend themselves, saying they had done 'everything we possibly could' to ensure Rolo went to a good home, including background checks and a home visit.
They wrote: 'Rolo's death was a tragic accident that had nothing at all to do with his health or @jrcbullies'.
Katie commented on the post, saying: 'It's nobody's fault and something that happened tragically we are all devastated about so instead of pointing fingers think of how we are all feeling so respect us all.'
However, she later revealed she was illegally advised to give Rolo cannabis oil, after she was gifted the substance in a 'puppy hamper'.
Rolo fell asleep under an electric chair after having the non-psychoactive cannabis derivative and later 'suffocated' after the family's nanny sat on the chair.
Katie told the Mirror that a vet told her giving the puppy CBD oil may have encouraged him to seek out a cosy place to sleep, such as the chair.
A spokeswoman for Katie said: 'Katie was told the oil was for dogs and safe. It was endorsed by the breeder. Katie will join forces with Peta and any other groups that need her to speak out.'
A source close to her added: 'As awful as it sounds, this will bring some comfort to Katie in understanding why Rolo crawled into the space.
'She feels let down too by a system that allows CBD oil to be marketed for pets despite it being illegal. Katie had backlash, hate mail, death threats and trolling over Rolo's tragic passing. As a family, they continue to mourn.'
PRECIOUS (2021)
Katie gave the family's French Bulldog to a builder working on her Channel 4 show Mucky Mansion little more than a year after getting her.
The dog was a gift from her on-off fiancé Carl Woods, to celebrate their six month anniversary.
'She's a French bulldog called Precious – [my daughter] Princess came up with the name,' Katie told The Sun.
'It's my six-month anniversary present from Carl. We might not have a baby, but this is our new baby together.'
CAPTAIN, BUDDY, COLIN AND BATMAN (2022)
Katie currently has four Chihuahuas named Captain, Buddy, Colin and Batman.
However in January 2022, fans feared for Buddy after she took him horse riding, by stuffing him down her jacket.
That same year, she was left 'devastated' and 'in bits' after losing Captain while on holiday in Dorset with Carl.
A source told The Sun: 'Katie was in bits. She thought Captain would be fine off his lead as they were staying on a friend's private property which was very secure but he managed to run off.'
They went on to tell the publication: 'Katie was devastated thinking she has lost him for good, or that he might get run over.'
After eight hours of searching she then received a phone call to say Captain had been found after being taken to a local vet, where they were able to identify him via his microchip.
SHARON (2022)
In November 2022, Katie's beloved dog Sharon was killed when she allegedly escaped and ran onto the road where she was hit by a car.
The Pomeranian was picked up off the A24 by the driver of the vehicle and taken to to Arun Vets in Pulborough, West Sussex, where her death was confirmed.
A source close to Katie told The Sun that the tragic even was 'rotten luck' and claimed that Katie was 'in bits'.
BLADE (2023)
In June 2023, Katie confirmed the death of her protection dog Blade, who was also struck by a car near her West Sussex property.
Taking to Instagram, she wrote: 'Words can't express the lost of my best friend my protector my absolutely everything who had sadly passed away today. I have no words to say how I'm feeling but numb and shocked rip Blade.'
She revealed that the RSPCA had visited her house after Blade's death, but then claimed that someone had deliberately killed him.
Katie said: 'Update – RSPCA have been up to my house not having any concerns about my animals and never had.
'We are trying to put together how Blade has been killed and his last steps as this is a deliberate target to kill him.'
TANK (2024)
Katie bought German Shepherd Tank a month after Blade's death.
However, in August 2023 she was accused of hitting the puppy in a TikTok live as he sat on her clothes.
She could be heard yelling: 'Get off! You're sitting on my jumpers, my love, jumpers that I love. Get off. Jesus Christ... Anyway, as I was saying...'
As Tank moved out of shot, Katie could be seen raising her hand to the animal, with users claiming they heard a 'loud smack'.
Then she gave Tank away, reportedly because he no longer 'looks cute on Instagram'.
The Sun reported that the mother-of-five got rid of the dog after 'losing interest' in him because she needed to 'train' him.

Final batch of rare £1 Queen Elizabeth II coins released
The Royal Mint has announced the release of the final batch of Queen Elizabeth II £1 coins into circulation across the UK. More than 23 million coins bearing the late Queen are being introduced, alongside 7.5 million new £1 coins featuring King Charles III. These 2022-dated Elizabeth II coins are set to become the rarest £1 denomination in active circulation, according to the Royal Mint. This dual release, totalling almost 31 million coins, marks a historic transition for UK coinage, symbolising the shift from Britain's longest-reigning monarch to her successor on the £1 denomination. They represent the last £1 coins featuring Queen Elizabeth II's portrait to enter public hands. Rebecca Morgan, director of commemorative coin at the Royal Mint, underscored the significance, stating: "This release represents a pivotal moment in British coinage history. 'As we release more of the King Charles III £1 coins into circulation alongside the final coins of Queen Elizabeth II, we're witnessing the physical representation of our monarchy 's transition. 'This dual release creates an exceptional opportunity for both seasoned numismatists and those new to coin collecting.' The Royal Mint is encouraging the public to check its change over the coming weeks, as the new coins begin to appear in pockets and tills across the nation. Ms Morgan added: 'Finding these new coins in your change could spark a rewarding hobby that connects you with the heritage, history and craftsmanship behind British currency.' Since the introduction of the King's effigy on UK coinage in 2023, the 50p and £1 are the only denominations with Charles's portrait to have entered circulation so far. The King's £1 coins feature an intricate bee design on the reverse and are part of the Definitive collection, inspired by the flora and fauna of the British Isles. Some 2.975 million £1s with the King's effigy were released in August last year. In total, there are around 24.7 billion coins in circulation across the UK, with the King's coins representing only around 0.004% of those, making his new coins highly desirable to collectors. All UK coins bearing the Queen's portrait will remain legal tender and in active circulation to allow a smooth transition and minimise the environmental impact and cost.

Inside the first Dishoom hotel rooms
Since the first Dishoom outpost opened its doors in Covent Garden back in 2010, it's no stretch to say that the nostalgia-steeped Indian restaurant group has cemented itself as a London dining scene mainstay. Even 15 years later, hopeful diners queue for hours to sample the likes of Goan monkfish curry with a fresh-from-the-tandoor masala paratha. During the pandemic, its legendary hangover-curing chilli-jam-laced bacon naan roll was so missed that a DIY at-home kit was launched. A major aspect of Dishoom 's success is the transportative feel of each space. From the artful lighting and mellow soundtrack to the pithy yet approachable menu annotations, founders Shamil and Kavi Thakrar have always had their fingers firmly on the pulse. New locations have sprung up in Brighton, Cambridge and Oxford over the course of the past year or two – each one an impeccably designed portal to 1960s Bombay, but with its own unique kick. No surprises, then, that the duo's next project allows for around-the-clock immersion, with the unveiling this summer of the Permit Room Lodgings – a two-bedroom suite in the middle of Notting Hill, above the all-day bar-café space. 'We've always loved the kind of stay where we're with friends or family in Bombay. The door's open, someone's insisting we eat something and we're utterly looked after,' says Kavi. A great deal of thought is put into the premises that house each new Dishoom. Take the Manchester restaurant, for example, which is set in a Grade II listed former Freemasons' hall on the edge of Spinningfields, or the branch just off Kensington High Street – occupying a corner of the Art Deco Barkers building. The Notting Hill opening is no exception. '186 Portobello Road has lived many lives,' Kavi told me when I checked in recently. 'It was a hotel back in the day, then a West Indian pub – a place where Londoners have long come to eat, drink and stay, so it felt right to revive that spirit.' Step in off the street and you'll notice at once the wispy plumes of sandalwood incense that, over the years, have become just as much a Dishoom signature as the house black daal. There's no check-in desk – instead, guests head over to the jade-coloured bar to retrieve a four-digit door code and are then guided towards a steep stairway hung with old-school gig posters. The Lodgings can be found at the top of the building, on the second floor. A parquet-floored hallway leads through to two en-suite bedrooms – both a celebration of rich colour and pattern – and then there's the lofty living space, with its butter-yellow walls and arched windows framing vignettes of lively Portobello Road below. Areca palms burst from burnished gold pots in every corner and the furniture is a considered mishmash of 1970s pieces – a glossy teak sideboard here, a geometric-print lampshade there – with a few restored Mumbai market finds thrown in for good measure. Conversation-starting works from the likes of Tarini Sethi and Mustafa Mohsin adorn the walls, each piece hand-picked with a steer from the team at Rajiv Menon Contemporary in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, cult newsagent Shreeji News has had a hand in curating the zines and books you'll find scattered about the place. In Shamil's words, it has been designed to feel 'like the home of a Bombayite friend – the kind who's inherently stylish and has impeccable taste without trying'. For all the design-forward details, the overall mood is warm and homey. The first round of drinks is on the house; guests can call down and order (on a powder-blue rotary phone) whenever they're ready. The list features some curious riffs on the classics – mangosteen daiquiri, anyone? – and the feni martini I opted for went down nicely as I got ready for dinner and rifled through the vinyl collection. It's a pretty decent line-up, pulled together in collaboration with Notting Hill mainstay Rough Trade West – expect to find the likes of Father John Misty and Sade, plus a bit of early Indian electronica. Down in the dining room, there's always a table for guests of the Lodgings and service has an unhurried feel to it without being frustratingly slow. You can expect to see a good number of long-standing favourites on the menu, alongside a couple of specials, the most tempting of which has to be the spatchcock chicken tandoori with kachumber, tangy green chutney and charred lemon. After dinner, those partial to a nightcap can assail the Lodgings' custom-made drinks cabinet (stocked with Kingfisher lager, house-made tipples and bars of crunchy caramel-studded chocolate from Melt, just down the road). The next morning, breakfast can be brought up to the living room or taken in the ground floor bar-café, which looks out over the Electric Cinema. There's date and banana porridge, plus a satisfyingly spicy take on the full English. Best of all though is the akuri pau – eggs scrambled with tomato, onion and plenty of green chilli, served with a pillowy-soft bun that's just right for dunking. There's a lot to like and with prices starting from £700 for the characterful two-bedroom, two-bathroom space, value for money is decent given the prime Portobello Road position. With more restaurants opening in Glasgow and Leeds, and the brand making its stateside debut in New York City early next year – with backing from the luxury LVMH group, no less – it will be intriguing to see whether Dishoom can continue to expand without diluting what is, evidently, a winning formula.

I ditched the UK for an underrated African country - it's just as safe and I live in a huge house with a swimming pool, but there's one thing we always miss about England
A woman who ditched the UK to move to Zimbabwe has revealed the one thing she misses about living in England - despite living it up with a huge house and pool. Natalie Furk, from Leicester, moved to Zimbabwe in March 2024 with her husband James and their two children as they were attracted by the 'lifestyle' changes it would bring them. The family moved into a huge four-bedroom home with an office, large kitchen and dining room area, which they plan to renovate and a large garden, where they grow their own organic produce. But despite the sunshine, spacious living and wide availability of 'delicious, healthy' food, Natalie says her children can't help but crave one thing - McDonalds. Recently, the mother-of-two revealed she visited family in the UK for two weeks and on her way home she decided to bring chicken nuggets and chips back on the plane - even bringing them back in plastic sandwich bags. Taking to her TikTok account, @naturallyfakemum, Natalie said: 'I live in Zimbabwe and I've just got back from visiting my family in England for two weeks without my kids, without my husband and I promised them one thing. That I'd bring them a McDonald's back.' Natalie filmed herself surprising her children with the food from the fast food giant, which does not currently have any outlets in Zimbabwe, racking up more than 290,000 views on TikTok. She previously said the reason why she decided to make the move from the UK to Zimbabwe was because of the 'lifestyle' it offers her and because her husband's family lives there. 'My husband would always go on about how he had an amazing childhood in Zim,' she said. 'They got to play outside every day and swim every day, because most households have a swimming pool. 'We just want that. We have gone to Zim almost every year we've been together. I've got to know the lifestyle of Zim, I've got to know all the people.' Nat said that, in her opinion, living in Zimbabwe is no less safe than being back home, adding: 'It's just such a kind community and everyone is there for each other. A lot of people say it's unsafe, but it's just like here, you have to have your wits about you. 'Also, Zim is a beautiful country and it's on the rise. In the past eight years I've been going, a lot of stuff is being rectified. The roads are being fixed, businesses are popping up and creating more jobs. 'What I really love about Zim is that the food is so fresh, it's so delicious and so organic. It's actually more expensive to buy processed food there than it is to buy fresh food.' However, telling her UK-based relatives that they were making the big move didn't initially go down well. 'Telling my family was one of the hardest things I ever had to do!' she said in a TikTok video. 'I was nervous sweating and my heart was racing. My dad stormed out the room, and my sister cried.' On TikTok, people were left divided by her McDonalds 'hack', while others were surprised it's not yet available to buy in the south African country. One person wrote: 'Would the chicken not be a bit dodgy to eat with all that traveling not in a fridge?' Another said: 'This is on another level of 'mum can you bring McDonald's home please'' Someone else added: 'Could you not just keep the packaging and cook some fries and nuggets??' A fourth said: 'Is there not one there? I thought there was a McDonald's everywhere lol xx' Natalie works in aesthetics, offering botox, microblading, microneedling services, and also bakes cakes to sell at a local market every weekend. Previously, an expat revealed how he ditched the UK for the north African country of Morocco. 'The weather in Morocco is terrific, the wine is cheap – and there's no undercurrent of racism here, like in the UK.' The clip racked up over 290,000 views and people rushed to the comments to leave their thoughts on Natalie's extreme lengths So says British-born architect Philip Brebner, who has been running Riad Porte Royale, a B&B he owns in Marrakech, for the last 20 years, alongside writing books, with his newest novel, Shadows of Marrakech out now. It was a 'moment of madness' in 2004 while accompanying his wife on a work trip, that saw Philip buy the property in the town's old quarter, the Medina. At the time, the Marrakech riad was 'rundown and dilapidated', as the couple 'didn't have much money', but they decided to renovate it before opening it as a guest house in 2006, and Philip has never looked back. He says: 'Marrakech is a really lovely place to be and a wonderful location. It's a bit of an oasis, and it's just got everything. 'In the city, all the buildings are pink, so it just feels really magical and charming. 'You also have the Agafay Stone Desert very nearby, and you can see the Atlas Mountains from the city, where you can go skiing if there is enough snow. And then, if you go over the Atlas, you have wonderful gorges, a dune desert and oases. 'And, of course, it's sunny most of the time!'
