Italian Global Series Festival 2025: South Korean drama 'Doubt' bags Best International Drama award
The film was written by Han Ah-young and directed by Song Yeon-hwa. It stars Han Suk-kyu and Chae Won-bin in the lead roles.
For his performance in the series, Han Suk-Kyu won the Best Actor in a Drama Series, reported Variety.
He played the role of a renowned profiler torn between love and suspicion as he investigates a murder linked to his psychopathic daughter.
According to Variety, Lisa Mulcahy won best director of a drama series for the U.K. show 'The Assassin,' while the best actress in a drama series prize went to Phyllis Logan for 'The Puzzle Lady.'
The drama jury was led by director Cristina Comencini.
Spain's 'Celeste,' written by Diego San Jose, took the best international comedy series award, while best actress in a comedy series was handed to the show's Carmen Marchi, reported Variety.
Other prizes in the comedy category included best director, which went to Christopher Smith for Ireland's 'Video Nasty,' and best actor, picked up by Ahmet Kural for the Turkish show 'Gassal,' reported Variety.
A special jury award was given to Steven Moffat's U.K. series 'Douglas Is Cancelled.'
According to Variety, the jury of the limited series competition, headed by director/screenwriter Bille August, voted for Ukrainian war drama 'The Train' as best limited series.
While the best director award for International Limited Series went to Lucy Gaffy for 'Mix Tape,' a co-production between Australia, Canada and Ireland.
In the same category, the acting awards went to Laure Calamy for France's 'The Confidante' and Matthew Gurney for the U.K.'s 'Reunion.'
The special jury prize was handed to 'Kabul' written by Olivier Demangel, Thomas Finkelkraut and Joey Lavy.
The Italian Global Series Festival took place from June 23 to June 28 in Riccione and Rimini, Italy. (ANI)

I have been fortunate to contribute to the stupendous success of the film in a pivotal role as Basanti. In fact, the role had such an impact on the viewing public that Basanti became my second name in real life. I congratulate all my co-artists, Vero, Jayay, Radha, Thakur, Gabbarsingh and many others. And the production team, including the director Ramish Sipriji, Salim Saheb, Javed Saheb, Late RD Burmanji and the many members of the technical team. Sholay would be incomplete without each team members participation. The film continues to create history even after five decades. I thank the audience for giving this film so much love. I am overwhelmed with gratitude and nostalgia for being remembered as Basanti even today. Today, the 15th of August 2025, marks its 50th year, and I am happy standing at the crossroads of the historical event in which I have played a substantial part. The Film Heritage Foundation took to their Instagram account to make the announcement along with a caption that read, 'Indian cinematic epic 'Sholay' (1975), directed by Ramesh Sippy, celebrates 50 years with the North American Premiere of the restored version at the 50th edition of the TIFF Toronto International Film Festival! This special screening will take place on September 6, 2025, at a gala event at the 1800-seater Roy Thomson Hall, befitting the legendary status of the film.' 'Sholay' is regarded as one of the greatest films of all time. It starred legendary actors such as Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Sanjeev Kumar, Hema Malini, Jaya Bachchan and Amjad Khan, among others. Released on August 15, 1975, 'Sholay' turned into a cult favourite in Indian cinema, owing to its powerful story, memorable characters, iconic dialogues, and the evergreen songs like 'Yeh Dosti', 'Mehbooba Mehbooba', 'Haa Jab Tak Hai Jaan', 'Holi Ke Din' and others. The film's story focuses on the fictitious Ramgarh village, where retired police chief Thakur Baldev Singh (Sanjeev Kumar) plans to defeat the notorious bandit, Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan), with the help of Jai (Amitabh Bachchan) and Veeru (Dharmendra). Upon arriving in the village, the duo realises the menace of Gabbar Singh and double their efforts to help Thakur. Washington, DC [US], August 14 (ANI): Actor Antony Starr penned an emotional goodbye to his 'The Boys' character Homelander on Wednesday as the Amazon series wrapped production on its fifth and final season. In his Instagram handle, Antony Starr penned a long, heartfelt caption and posted some behind-the-scenes photos from the superhero satire. The actor called his character 'Homelander' a true 'highlight' of his career. 'Difficult (for me) to put into words what an incredible ride this has been. How much life and growth has occurred. How amazing the team is. It's truly been the highlight of my career,' Starr wrote. 'When we began, I had no idea what was coming. This juggernaut left the station and never stopped. Except for that Covid moment. Oh and the strikes. That was a thing too. But apart from those two times, it never stopped, boldly making its mark on the television landscape. There's nothing else like it. It lives in its own lane,' added Antony Starr. With production on the final season having wrapped, Starr then handed out thank yous to 'the incredible Canadian crew. The amazing production team. The insanely talented cast. South Korean Supreme Court dismisses US composer's ‘Baby Shark' copyright claim
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — South Korea's Supreme Court rejected a 30 million won ($21,600) damage claim Thursday by an American composer who accused a South Korean kids content company of plagiarizing his version of ' Baby Shark,' ending a six-year legal battle over the globally popular tune known for its catchy ' doo doo doo doo doo doo ' hook. The top court upheld lower court rulings dating back to 2021 and 2023 that found no sufficient grounds to conclude Pinkfong infringed on Jonathan Wright's copyright. Wright, also known as Johnny Only, had recorded his version in 2011, four years before Pinkfong's, but both were based on a traditional melody popular for years at children's summer camps in the United States. The courts ruled that Wright's version did not differ enough from the original melody to qualify as an original creative work eligible for copyright protection, and that Pinkfong's song had clear differences from Wright's. Wright's South Korean attorney and Pinkfong didn't immediately respond to requests for comment. Pinkfong's 'Baby Shark' became a global phenomenon after it was released on YouTube in 2015, with the original video now exceeding 16 billion views and peaking at No. 32 on the Billboard Hot 100.
