Fresh off the release of its new Range Rover Sport SV 'Black', Land Rover has now applied the same approach to its wide-arched Defender Octa. Yep, looks like a proper thug.
That paint is called 'Narvik Black', and it's apparently the 'truest black in the Defender paint palette'. Customers can also add a protective matte film over it… because caution is precisely what this car is all about. Oh no, that's not right is it...

As many as 30 exterior elements have also been reskinned in either gloss or satin black for the erm Black, including the quad-exhaust tips, badging and even the underbody armour. Your choice of 20 or 22in alloys will get the same treatment, as do the brake calipers nestled in behind.
It's a similar ethos inside, featuring darker detailing across the dashboard, centre console and almost every piece of trim and switchgear. Chopped carbon fibre can also be optioned into certain sections if you're the kind of person that thinks Mansory makes some tasteful SUVs.
The final change involves the seats, which gain unique patterns and detailed stitching, and debut a new type of semi-aniline leather and Kvadrat fabric upholstery. Otherwise, it's a familiar 13.1in multimedia screen and a 15-speaker Meridian sound system.
No technical upgrades are mentioned either, so the Octa Black retains the 626bhp/553lb ft twin-turbo mild-hybrid V8, good for 0-62mph in four seconds across just about any environment. Explains why Land Rover fancies its chances at the forthcoming Dakar Rally.

We've yet to hear about a release date or pricing for the Black, but do consider that a standard Octa costs at least £148k. Things do be getting expensive these days.

Oliver Bearman is slapped with 10-place grid penalty at Silverstone after bizarre pit-entry crash
Oliver Bearman has received a 10-place grid penalty ahead of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. The Haas driver was penalised after he bizarrely crashed upon entering the pit during final practice on Saturday. Earlier in the session a red flag was raised as a result of Bearman losing a piece of bodywork from his car, with marshals having to retrieve the part from the track. Later, another red flag was shown when Gabriel Bortoleto's car spun off the circuit at high speed. Bearman headed towards the pit lane but ended up spinning and lost the front wing from his car. The incident was investigated by stewards, with Bearman subsequently being penalised. Bearman's crash at the pit entry — Holiness (@F1BigData) July 5, 2025 As reported by F1's official website, a document was released following the hearing. The document read: 'Car 87 had slowed down for the red flag and as he was approaching Turn 15 accelerated significantly to race pace and entered the pit entry road at 260kph. He lost control of the car in the pit entry road and crashed into the barriers. 'Art. 37.6 (a) of the Formula One Sporting Regulations and Art. 2.5.4.1(b) of Appendix H of the International Sporting Code require that when a red flag is shown 'all cars must immediately reduce speed and proceed slowly back to the pit lane'. 'It is beyond doubt that the driver of Car 87 did not proceed slowly back to the pit lane when he accelerated to simulate entering into the pit entry road under race conditions. 'In fact, we looked at a previous in-lap under normal racing conditions and found that he was faster in this lap, under a red flag. 'To make matters worse, he lost control of the car and crashed into the barriers while at speed. The driver informed us that he misjudged the fact that his brakes were not warm because the lap was done slowly, due to the red flag. 'While this may have been a factor contributing to the crash, we did not consider it to be a mitigating factor.' Bearman has also received four penalty points, which means that he now has eight on his licence. 20-year-old Bearman is set to compete in his first race at Silverstone as an F1 driver.

Live F1 British Grand Prix qualifying: latest updates from Silverstone
Welcome to our live coverage for qualifying for the 2025 British Grand Prix. As it has been for nearly four decades, the race takes place at Silverstone which is, for my money, the best track on the calendar alongside Suzuka, Interlagos and the Circuit of the Americas. Not only are its high-speed sections a challenge for the drivers and a thrill for the fans, but it also produces excellent racing by and large. Could we see another British winner this year? Lewis Hamilton has an incredible record at Silverstone and won here last year for Mercedes. Lando Norris comes off the back of a victory in Austria and with the McLaren has the fastest car on the grid. Believe it or not, both of them are in contention this weekend. Hamilton's season at Ferrari has been one largely of struggle, but the team's recent floor upgrade appears to be working. After an improved showing in Austria last week, where they finished third and fourth behind the two McLarens, they have performed strongly in the three practice sessions this weekend. Indeed, Charles Leclerc was the fastest in final practice earlier today, but it is difficult to get a proper read on where the others are because of various stoppages and red flags. First a piece of debris from Oliver Bearman's Haas brought out the first red flag. The session was then restarted but Gabriel Bortoleto crashed in his Sauber, suffering suspension failure. And then Bearman spun as he was entering the pit lane, losing his front wing and nose. Another Briton who was in contention last year, George Ruselll, might find it harder to get to the front in 2025. But let's not count him out just yet. Qualifying begins at 3pm BST and we will be here for all the build-up, live updates and reaction from it.

Ollie Bearman handed severe penalty for British GP after crash in pit-lane
Ollie Bearman has been handed a 10-place grid penalty for Sunday's British Grand Prix after crashing in red flag conditions in practice. The 20-year-old, competing in his first F1 home race, lost control of his Haas car upon entering the pit-lane in the final practice session on Saturday. Bearman's car spun into the wall, though he did manage to drive it back to his garage. However, given the incident took place in red flag conditions where car control is paramount, the stewards have dished out a severe penalty for Bearman's race on Sunday. The Haas driver also received four penalty points, taking his total up to eight. Twelve in one year triggers a race ban.
