Day Two of the fifth Test between India and England produced a breathtaking spectacle of seam, swing, and collapses, with 15 wickets falling, the most in a single day's play in the ongoing series.
This number overtook the previous high of 14 wickets, which fell on Day Four of the second Test at Lord's.
What started as a day favouring the batters, with England's openers blazing away in the morning session, quickly turned into a bowler's paradise.

India's pace attack, led by Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna, sparked a stunning turnaround.
England, who were 109 for 1 at lunch chasing India's first-innings total of 224, were bowled out for 247 in the final session.
Siraj and Prasidh both took four wickets apiece, as India clawed back into the contest with relentless discipline and hostile seam bowling.
The drama didn't end there. India's second innings began under fading light and rising tension, and the visitors struck quickly again.
KL Rahul fell cheaply, and Sai Sudharsan was trapped in front late in the day.

By stumps, India had reached 75 for two wickets in just 18 overs, taking the total to 15 wickets for the day, a statistic that reflects not just the quality of bowling, but the unpredictability of the pitch and match situation.

This dramatic swing in momentum echoed the gripping nature of the series itself, where no session has felt entirely safe for either side.
The seam-friendly conditions at The Oval, combined with high-stakes pressure in a series decider, brought out both the brilliance of the pacers and the vulnerability of top-order batters.
With three days still to go and conditions continuing to assist the bowlers, this record of 15 wickets in a day might not stand for long. But for now, it marks the most action-packed day of the series.

Gautam Gambhir On India's Ideology After Historic Oval Win: 'Won't Be About...'

Last Updated: Team India celebrated a historic win at The Oval, drawing the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2-2 against England. The Indian men's cricket team erupted in celebration after securing a historic win at The Oval, drawing the fiercely contested Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2-2 against England. In what was a rollercoaster five-match Test series, India's victory in the final game was more than just a result; it was a statement of belief, resilience, and collective character. Players and the head coach revealed their emotions after the game, showcasing how much this series meant to them. The Indian Cricket Team posted a video on their Instagram account featuring star players speaking about the victory. Head coach Gautam Gambhir stated in the video, 'That is gonna be the ideology of the Test team, where it won't be about individual-centric, it will be about the team," Head coach Gautam Gambhir said in the video. 'The way the boys have fought, I've always been a big believer. You should always get what you deserve, not what you want, and I think guys deserve," he added. What Did Indian Players Say? Captain Shubman Gill, who led with the bat, expressed his elation at the squad's response to the challenge throughout different phases of the series. Gill had a stellar series with the bat, surpassing the legendary Garry Sobers' tally of 722 runs to set a new record for the most runs by a touring captain in a Test series. Gill's 754 runs are now the second-highest by a captain in any series, behind only Don Bradman's 810 runs in the home Ashes of 1936-37. For India, only Sunil Gavaskar has ever scored more runs in a single series, with his 774 in the West Indies in 1970-71. 'I'm feeling very ecstatic and high right now and very happy with the way everyone performed, very happy with the way everyone contributed throughout the series. Different people stepping in at different moments. This is what you want as a captain, and I'm very happy with the way I performed as a batsman as well," he noted. Senior batter KL Rahul, who played a guiding role through the series, called it one of the best Test experiences of his career, 'Yeah, really pleasing, really happy and proud of the way we have all played and how we have represented our country." 'Extremely special and I think right up there in terms of the best Test series that I've been part of. Pleasing, really happy, and proud of the way we've all played and how we've represented our country." Ranking third in the batting charts, KL Rahul had his most productive and consistent Test series, scoring 532 runs in five matches and 10 innings at an average of 53.20, with two centuries and two fifties. His best score was 137. Washington Sundar, who stepped up in key moments, said the series would remain etched in his memory. 'I think this series will forever be special in my life," he said. 'All five days, you need to put in different kinds of energy to be able to contribute to the team and win crucial situations. It's been a massive learning for me this season," he added. For Prasidh Krishna, who featured in the final Test, it was a profoundly humbling experience. 'The incredible effort from everybody each and everybody that's that's around the physios. Especially, I think the masseurs deserve a lot of credit, along with the team, as well. To get us in shape, to get us up and running this morning, to come back, warm up again, and get on the field was incredible. I think the credit goes to the whole team here, loving it," he said. Reflecting on the match, Krishna added, 'Siraj started off really well. That first wicket was really important for us to take the momentum towards our way, and from there, I think it was it was all it was all very close hit and miss, and I think we stood up on the right side." Mohammed Siraj, whose breakthroughs set the tone, was the Player of the Match of the final Test with match figures of 9/190. 'Every batsman, every bowler, hats off to him," said Siraj. Karun Nair spoke about the environment within the team. 'What an amazing team we have," he said. 'The bonding that we have together, the environment that's been created, it's been amazing. Just cherishing this moment, to come away to England and draw the series," he added. Young wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel admitted to feeling the nerves. 'To be honest, I'm not gonna lie. I was feeling a bit of pressure as soon as I went out because it was an overcast condition. It's not that easy to keep the ball because the ball swings after passing the wicket. So, the thought was to wait for a run-out and catch and grab the opportunity and not to give any byes, so the thought was to give them as few runs as possible because they will try something they dont have wickets and that's what happened," he added. Jurel also touched on the emotional weight of wearing the India jersey."The main thing is the dream to represent India and if we are doing it in any format, it feels good," he said (With inputs from Agencies) About the Author Ritayan Basu Ritayan Basu, Senior Sub-Editor, Sports at Has been covering domestic and and international football for nearly a decade. BCCI To Hold 'Honest Conversation' With Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma. Here's Why

India holding England to a 2-2 draw in the fiercely fought Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy was a celebration of a new crop of cricketers' self-belief and fearlessness to put their bodies on the line for the country and the team. Mohammed Siraj bowled close to 200 overs, dragging his knackered body through five Tests, Washington Sundar never took a backward step, Yashasvi Jaiswal contributed when it mattered the most, Akash Deep and Prasidh Krishna were all heart, and Sai Sudharsan gave fleeting glimpses of his long-term utility. But this coming-of-age effort has another dimension to it. Where does it leave the venerable seniors, such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, who have retired from T20Is and ODIs, and Jasprit Bumrah, whose injury-prone body needs careful handling? Kohli is 36 and Rohit is 38, and they will possibly be seen in action next during the away three-match ODI series against Australia, followed by another three one-dayers at home against South Africa. Thereafter, they have a chance to appear in six ODIs against New Zealand (home) and England (away) between January and July 2026. But is that a good enough build-up to keep them ready for the 50-over World Cup in 2027 in South Africa? Will the distinguished duo have the desire to continue that long on the back of just one format and the IPL? "Yes, it will be discussed soon. We still have more than two years for the next World Cup (November 2027). Both Kohli and Rohit will be pushing 40 by then, so, there has to be a clear plan ahead for the big event as our last win was in 2011. We also need to try out a few youngsters in time,' a source indicated to PTI. Though they went out of the T20Is basking in the glory of a World Cup win in 2024, both Kohli and Rohit had to make a rather silent retirement from Tests. So, will the former captains be allowed to choose a place and time on their own to move out or will they be phased out with future in mind? "Look, both Kohli and Rohit have made huge contributions to white ball cricket for the team and the sport in general. They have achieved almost everything. "So, I don't think nobody's going to force their hand, but there will be some honest and professional conversations before the next ODI cycle starts to see where they stand mentally and physically. It depends on that,' he added. The other issue is the lack of match time for Kohli and Rohit as they have not appeared in any matches since the Champions Trophy in March early this year, and there are no domestic white ball competitions prior to the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20s in November followed by the Vijay Hazare Trophy in December. As per the existing BCCI diktat, a player cannot skip domestic matches when he is fully fit, and a non-compliance can lead to omission from national squads. Even though the stature that Kohli and Rohit enjoy might just give them an exemption, if it comes to that. The Bumrah puzzle But Bumrah offers a different case, as the physios have laid out a certain roadmap for his international future which saw him playing only in three Tests in England. Many feel that the time has come to chalk out a definite plan on how to utilise the premier pacer. "There is no question on the value that he brings to the side. But the management and board need to discuss how to use him — as an all format bowler or should he be asked to concentrate only on one or two formats,' a former player, who has seen Bumrah from close quarters, told PTI. 'Siraj, Akash Deep and Prasidh have shown us that they can win Tests for India. Let's back them fully. We have two important tournaments (T20 and ODI WC) coming our way, and we need Bumrah ready for them. For home matches (vs West Indies, SA), we have Washi and Kuldeep along with Jadeja, and Bumrah's role will not be that big here. "So, if you ask me, he should be asked to focus more on white ball formats for now as there are enough T20s and one-dayers for him to play in the next two years. Yeah, IPL too is there. It's better to have him play all matches in one format rather than him playing a few matches in all formats. It adds value to the team," he noted. PTI UNG KHS KHS
