Siddaramaiah launches real-time 'CM Dashboard' for development monitoring
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday launched the Chief Minister's Dashboard, a real-time governance platform offering integrated insights into the state's key development indicators.
The launch took place during a review meeting with Deputy Commissioners and Zilla Panchayat CEOs at Vidhana Soudha, news agency PTI reported.
Developed in-house by the Centre for e-Governance (CeG) and hosted at cmdashboard.karnataka.gov.in, the platform uses a microservices-based architecture and integrates data from various departments via APIs, removing the need for manual entry.

The dashboard monitors Karnataka's performance across four main sectors:
Economic Growth (investments, welfare beneficiaries)
Legal/Judicial Management (RTI, Sakala disposals)
Infrastructure Development (roads, irrigation, renewable energy)
Citizen-Centric Governance (Guarantee Schemes, Janaspandana)
Officials say the dashboard aims to enhance transparency and decision-making, allowing public access to track key government schemes and service delivery in real-time.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday reviewed the law and order situation in Mangaluru, days after the murder of a Muslim youth in Bantwal triggered tensions in the coastal region. Prohibitory orders remain in force in parts of Dakshina Kannada district until May 30.
The Chief Minister met Congress MLC BK Hariprasad at his residence to discuss the unfolding situation. 'We held a general discussion on the current atmosphere in Mangaluru. It is essential to foster communal harmony—there should be no hatred between Hindus and Muslims,' Siddaramaiah told reporters after the meeting. He added that Hariprasad has been asked to visit the region to help in peace-building efforts.
Referring to the pattern of retaliatory violence in Dakshina Kannada, Siddaramaiah assured strict legal action against all those involved, regardless of their political or social influence. 'The law is above all, and we will act accordingly,' he said.

11 caught in crush die amid celebrations over RCB title
A mega celebration of Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) maiden IPL title turned into a tragedy after 11 people were crushed to death and another 47 injured outside the M Chinnaswamy stadium on Wednesday evening, raising serious questions about police preparedness and organisational planning. Hundreds of thousands of people thronged the stadium since the afternoon, hoping to catch a glimpse of their cricket heroes who had won their first IPL trophy the previous night. As crowds swelled ahead of the 6pm event, the police closed all gates, even as fans climbed over cars and climbed trees, triggering the crush between 3.30 pm to 5pm. 'The crowd was beyond our control. Even though we had deployed force, it was too much. We had to resort to lathi charge at some points. The problem was the stadium gates were narrow, and the pressure of the crowd caused the tragedy,' said a senior police officer, requesting anonymity. Rakesh Prakash, a software engineer who was among those trying to get in, said, 'In the morning, we were told that passes could be purchased. Later, we were told they were being distributed at the stadium. So like me, many landed up here hoping to get a pass.' In a post on X ahead of the event, RCB asked fans to follow instructions by the administration and police, while announcing limited entry free tickets on its website. Among the dead were a software engineer, a 14-year-old girl and an engineering student. Many of the dead were young people, said chief minister Siddaramaiah. 'The Karnataka state cricket association had organised a programme for the victory celebration (at the stadium), there was also a programme from the government (at Vidhana Soudha). At the Chinnaswamy stadium, a big tragedy happened. Due to the stampede, 11 people have died and 33 have suffered 14 people have taken treatment at an outpatient facility. Such an incident should never have happened, and the government deeply regrets it,' he said. 'No one expected such a huge crowd…The stadium has a capacity of only 35,000 people, but 200,000-300,000 people came,' he added. 'There were over 1.5 lakh people at the gates, banging and eventually breaking through in some places. The attempt to enter the stadium resulted in the stampede.' Deputy CM DK Shivakumar said the crowd was 'absolutely uncontrollable'. Even as people were taken to hospitals and news of the tragedy trickled in, the organisers of the felicitation ceremony pressed on with the event inside the stadium; the team's social media account posted a video of cheering crowds as the bus full of the players —including Virat Kohli —waved back. But IPL chairman Arun Dhumal later clarified that the stadium officials didn't know about the stampede until later. The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), which manages the stadium, said it was saddened. RCB-KSCA announced a compensation of ₹5 lakh and the government ₹10 lakh. KSCA said in its statement that the event was organised by RCB. 'Immediately upon being made aware of the situation, we promptly amended our program, and followed the guidance and advice of the local administration,' RCB said in a statement. But questions lingered about the lack of preparedness and lax security arrangements for what was expected to be a blockbuster and emotional event. 'The crowd swelled to thousands near Gate 3 and surged forward. Many fell to the ground and were trampled. There were very few police around, and despite announcements asking people to go home and watch the event on TV, no one listened,' said Sathish Bhat, a civil engineer from Hennur, who had arrived around 5pm to attend the ceremony. SN Siddaraju, a bakery worker from Vijayanagara, said, 'Several individuals were found unconscious and were being given CPR by bystanders. Police faced immense challenges in controlling the crowd. Even they became helpless at one stage.' At Vydehi Hospital, resident medical officer Humera Sayeeda confirmed that four people were brought dead. 'Twelve others have sustained minor injuries and are being treated. Among the deceased, three are male and one is female. The cause appears to be suffocation,' she said. Seven deaths were reported at Bowring Hospital. Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the stampede as 'absolutely heartrending'. 'In this tragic hour, my thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that those who are injured have a speedy recovery,' Modi said on X. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said the turn of events was shocking. 'This is a negative side of popularity. People are crazy for their cricketers. The organisers should have planned it better,' BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said. The BJP blamed the Congress government, calling the incident a result of administrative failure. Karnataka BJP chief B Y Vijayendra said, 'The stampede scenes during RCB's victory celebrations are not just tragic, they are a damning indictment of the Congress government. This happened because of mismanagement.' In response, Siddaramaiah said, 'I do not want to play politics in this case. I don't want to play politics. That is why even though there was an unexpected crowd, we have ordered a magisterial probe. I will give 15 days time for this report' The day had begun on a cheery note after RCB broke an 18-year-long jinx to win their first IPL title on Tuesday night, defeating Punjab Kings by 6 runs. The team landed at the HAL airport at 2.35pm, and were received by Shivakumar. The first felicitation ceremony was organised by the state government at the Vidhana Soudha around 4.30pm. 'In front of Vidhana Soudha, nearly one lakh people gathered, but no such incident occurred as there was enough open space. At the stadium, the gates were too small. We assumed a slightly larger crowd than the stadium's capacity, but two to three lakh people showed up,' said the police officer cited above. A plan to hold a roadshow between the Vidhana Soudha and the stadium – a distance of 1.5km – was nixed by the Bengaluru Police earlier in the day, citing security concerns. Television visuals showed police rushing away from crowds carrying young children in their arms, who had seemingly fainted. Others were stretched out on the ground and emergency personnel carried people into ambulances, while celebrations inside the stadium continued.

SC dismisses Delhi Waqf Board appeal seeking possession of gurdwara
New Delhi The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed an appeal filed by the Delhi Waqf Board seeking possession of a pre-independence gurudwara in Oldenpur village of Shahdara as waqf property, observing that the board should have relinquished its claim once the records showed that a religious structure had been functioning on the land since 1948. A bench of justices Sanjay Karol and Satish Chandra Sharma passed the order on a 2012 appeal filed by the board, challenging a Delhi high court order of September 24, 2010, which held the property to be in possession of the late Hira Singh, who had purchased it from Mohammad Ahsan in 1953. Dismissing the appeal, the court said, 'The records show there is a gurudwara functioning since Partition. Once a religious structure is there, you should yourself relinquish your claim.' The Waqf Board, represented by senior advocate Sanjoy Ghose, contended that the high court disturbed concurrent findings by a trial court, first in October 1982 and then again in February 1989, in the board's favour. He said that the property has been since time immemorial dedicated as waqf property and witnesses in the suit deposed that there was a mosque and 'some sort of a gurudwara' came to be built over that. The bench interjected Ghose and said, 'It is not some sort of gurudwara. There is a fully functional gurudwara there.' The board claimed that the property in question was gazette notified on December 3, 1970, and subsequently corrected by another notification of April 29, 1978, published in the Delhi Gazette on May 18, 1978. As per the Waqf Board records, the property in question was notified as 'Masjid Takia Babbar Shah'. The high court, in its judgment, had said: 'The defendant (Singh) was admittedly in occupation of this property since 1947-48... It is also true that the defendant was not able to adduce any document of title to evidence the purchase of this property, yet this does not in any manner benefit the plaintiff (Waqf Board) who has to establish his own case and prove it to enable him to obtain a decree of possession.' The high court had noted that although the board claimed it to be waqf property, no dates were given as to from which date the property was being used as a masjid. 'This assumes special relevance as the defendant (Singh) in his written statement had specifically controverted this stand.' The board had relied on the deposition of witnesses, who attested to the fact that the mosque was constructed by Muslim owners of the property, and the defendant occupied it illegally since 1948. The high court relied on a 1979 Supreme Court decision in the Board of Muslim Waqfs, Rajasthan case, where it held that where a stranger who is a non-Muslim and is in possession of a certain property his right, title and interest therein cannot be put in jeopardy merely because the property is included in the list published under the Waqf Act, 1954. Going by this verdict, the high court held that the gazette notification of the property being waqf 'would not be binding on a stranger or a person who does not fall in the category of 'person interested in a wakf' as defined under Section 3(h) of the act. Singh had pointed out that the Gurudwara Managing Committee was managing the premises in dispute. It was further stated that the Waqf Board had filed two suits that were withdrawn in 1970 and 1978. He further pointed out that under Section 64 of the Limitation Act, a suit for recovery of possession of property has to be filed within 12 years from the date when the right to sue accrued. In the present case, the Waqf Board filed the suit in December 1980, which was time-barred.

"We Apologise For This Incident": DK Shivakumar On Bengaluru Stampede
Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Wednesday offered an apology after 11 people were killed in a stampede near the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru following RCB victory celebrations. Speaking to ANI, DK Shivakumar said, "This should not have happened and we never expected such a big stadium's capacity is 35,000, but more than 3 lakh people were (of the stadium) have been apologise for this want to know the facts and give a clear message..." He accused the BJP of politicising the incident. "BJP is doing are very sorry for the incident. We will work out a better solution in the future..." The Congress leader also said that all government events scheduled for tomorrow have been postponed after the tragedy. "...Tomorrow, except the cabinet meeting, all programmes have been postponed. No celebrations, including the World Environment Day..." The Karnataka government announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the families of the deceased killed in the stampede. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah addressed a press conference and said the government would also provide free treatment to the injured. "A major tragedy occurred during the victory celebrations. It happened near the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The government has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the deceased. The government will provide free treatment to the injured," the CM said. Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, CM Siddaramaiah said, "11 died and 33 were injured in the stampede. This tragedy should not have happened. The government expresses deep sorrow over this incident." The Karnataka CM further asserted that he has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the matter. "I don't want to defend this incident. Our government will not do politics on this. I have ordered a magisterial inquiry and given 15 days' time. People even broke the gates of the stadium. There was a stampede. No one expected such a huge crowd. The stadium has a capacity of only 35,000 people, but 2-3 lakh people came," CM Siddaramaiah said.
