Punjab: Class 10, 12 toppers spend a day with top bureaucrats
The Class 10 and 12 toppers of Punjab government schools spent the day with deputy commissioners (DCs), commissioners of police (CPs), and senior superintendents of police (SSPs), as part of the state government's 'Ek Din, DC/SSP De Sang' initiative.
The initiative aims at giving the youngsters an insight into the working of the administration and also help them draw inspiration from the lives of these top bureaucrats
Jalandhar DC Himanshu Aggarwal engaged with the Class-12 toppers of the district -- Madhavi Salaria (99%), Sakshi (98.60%), and Amanpreet Kaur (98.40%), all of the non-medical stream. He took them on a tour of the DC office, SDM court, Sewa Kendra, sub-registrar's office, and briefed them about the registration process.
Jalandhar police commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur spent the day with Class 10 district toppers Preeti Kumari (97.85%), Navneet Kaur (97.54%) and Neelu Kumari (97.54%).
Amritsar DC Sakshi Sawhney hosted Class 10 district toppers Meharpreet Kaur (99.38%), Arnoorbir Kaur (98.30%) and Arshdeep Singh (97.84%). Sawhney shared with them her journey of becoming a DC and encouraged them to choose their careers without giving in to any external pressure.
Kapurthala DC Amit Kumar Panchal spent the day with Class 12 toppers Ankita Sharma, Ravnit Kaur, and Tania. He shared his IAS journey and advised them to work hard and adopt a never-give-up attitude.
Kapurthala SSP Gaurav Toora interacted with Class 10 toppers Manpreet Kaur (96.77%), Kamaljeet Kaur (96.46%) and Anjali Kumari (95.84%).

Karwar: Deputy commissioner of Uttara Kannada, K Lakshmipriya, urged leaders of all communities to celebrate the Bakrid festival, a symbol of sacrifice, peacefully and harmoniously in the district. She also directed the officials of the urban development department to prioritise waste disposal during Bakrid, and to manage it systematically. Additionally, officials from the animal husbandry and revenue departments were instructed to provide all necessary support to the police department. To prevent illegal cattle transportation, 24 checkposts have been set up by the police department, and offenders involved in such activities can face up to 7 years of imprisonment and a fine of up to Rs 10 lakh. The DC advised public not to believe any fake news on social media that could incite religious sentiments, and encouraged them to contact the district administration and police control rooms for accurate information. She urged people of all faiths to engage in peaceful and harmonious celebrations of Bakrid. District police superintendent Narayan M mentioned that peace meetings have been conducted in all police station jurisdictions to maintain peace and harmony during Bakrid. Social media platforms are being monitored 24/7 to prevent the spread of fake news. A heightened police presence has been arranged for four days during Bakrid. He warned against inflammatory speeches and urged the public to immediately inform the nearest police station of any law violations, assuring strict action against offenders. Leaders of Hindu and Muslim organisations present at the meeting emphasised that the district is known for its peace, and will not allow any untoward incidents during Bakrid. They committed to celebrating the festival peacefully and harmoniously, and assured continuous support to the district administration for maintaining a peaceful environment.

Deputy commissioner Divya Prabhu orders shifting of stray cattle
Dharwad: Deputy commissioner Divya Prabhu has directed the HDMC and other local bodies in the district to initiate action to remove the stray cattle occupying the roads and other public places and send them to goshalas. Taking a serious note of the report, DC Divya who chaired a district level meeting of officials from the police, veterinary, revenue and HDMC said the stray cattle should be sent to goshalas. "If the cattle found occupying a road or public place belongs to an owner, he should penalised and punished as per the law. The Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act, 2020 stupulates imposing a fine of Rs 3 lakh and imprisonment upto five years" the DC said. The DC directed the officials to ensure that animal slaughter is done in places that have been permitted as per law and not at unauthorised places. Task force formed The DC also constituted task forces under the chairmanship of tahasildar's of respective taluks to oversee the proper implementation of the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act, 2020 during Bakrid which will be observed on June 7. The meeting was attended by all the tahasildars, veterinary department officers, police officers and others.

Show cause notice issued to 7 departments
Kanpur: District magistrate Kanpur Nagar, Jitendra Pratap Singh, on Wednesday took the negative feedback in Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS) complaints and said that he would not tolerate carelessness in disposal of public complaints. In the meeting, he directed to issue show cause notices to seven departments for careless attitude towards public complaints. The seven departments are Jalkal department, municipal corporation, SDM (Sadar) Kanpur Nagar, PWD, tehsildar Sadar Kanpur Nagar, district inspector of schools and assistant labour commissioner Kanpur Nagar. In a review meeting held at the collectorate auditorium, Singh said that quality disposal of IGRS (Integrated Grievance Redressal System) references was the top priority of the government. The DM stated that in the evaluation report submitted by the government on June 3, the percentage of negative feedback received in relation to the references resolved by various departments was found to be of great concern. Notably, in some departments this negative feedback has been recorded as high as 83 per cent, which reflects serious laxity in departmental functioning and blatant disregard for citizens' expectations. Terming this situation as extremely regrettable Singh said that it was indicative of clear indifference in discharging duty. He said this shows that the complaints have not been resolved seriously and in a qualitative manner by the officers/employees concerned or their supervisory responsibilities have not been discharged efficiently. As a result of this serious lapse, the ranking of the district has been adversely affected, which has also caused a serious blow to the administrative image of the district.
