Punjab: Class 10, 12 toppers spend a day with top bureaucrats
The initiative aims at giving the youngsters an insight into the working of the administration and also help them draw inspiration from the lives of these top bureaucrats
Jalandhar DC Himanshu Aggarwal engaged with the Class-12 toppers of the district -- Madhavi Salaria (99%), Sakshi (98.60%), and Amanpreet Kaur (98.40%), all of the non-medical stream. He took them on a tour of the DC office, SDM court, Sewa Kendra, sub-registrar's office, and briefed them about the registration process.
Jalandhar police commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur spent the day with Class 10 district toppers Preeti Kumari (97.85%), Navneet Kaur (97.54%) and Neelu Kumari (97.54%).
Amritsar DC Sakshi Sawhney hosted Class 10 district toppers Meharpreet Kaur (99.38%), Arnoorbir Kaur (98.30%) and Arshdeep Singh (97.84%). Sawhney shared with them her journey of becoming a DC and encouraged them to choose their careers without giving in to any external pressure.
Kapurthala DC Amit Kumar Panchal spent the day with Class 12 toppers Ankita Sharma, Ravnit Kaur, and Tania. He shared his IAS journey and advised them to work hard and adopt a never-give-up attitude.
Kapurthala SSP Gaurav Toora interacted with Class 10 toppers Manpreet Kaur (96.77%), Kamaljeet Kaur (96.46%) and Anjali Kumari (95.84%).

Morabadi ground ready to host Independence Day event
1 2 3 4 5 6 Ranchi: The final dress rehearsal of the Independence Day parade was held at Morabadi Ground on Wednesday under the supervision of deputy commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri. This year, governor Santosh Gangwar will unfurl the Tricolour in Ranchi as chief minister Hemant Soren is away at Nemra in Ramgarh for the shradh rituals of his father, Shibu Soren, who passed away on August 4. The rehearsal included all formal activities planned for the main event, with both the DC and SSP taking the salute. The participating platoons are CRPF, ITBP, SSB, CISF, Jharkhand Jaguar, Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP)-1, JAP-2, JAP-10, Ranchi Police (male and female contingents), Home Guard, NCC (boys and girls), and Bihar Police. Assistant superintendent of police Shruti will serve as parade commander, with probationary deputy SP Dusruwan Singh as second commander. Addressing the briefing for deputed magistrates and police officers, Bhajantri said, "All officers must have full knowledge of their duties and deployment points, and ensure arrangements for the timely arrival and departure of dignitaries." SSP Chandan Sinha emphasised strict security protocols, instructing that "all visitors must be thoroughly screened and no unauthorised person or objectionable item should be allowed into the venue. " South Chhotanagpur divisional commissioner Anjani Kumar Mishra and the DC formally invited the governor as the chief guest for the I-Day celebrations. "We have briefed the governor on the preparations and programme schedule, and all arrangements are in place," Bhajantri said. Across Ranchi, markets and streets have also decked up in the national colours. In the run-up to the celebrations on Friday, a group of youngsters took to the streets on Wednesday carrying a massive 300-ft-long Tricolour. The procession, which started at the Morabadi ground to the Albert Ekka Chowk, passed through prominent roads of the city. "We are training to join the armed forces and serve the nation for as long as we live. This rally is our way of expressing our respect and love for the country. We hope this march will inspire more youths to join the armed forces and nurture a sense of pride for the country," said a young participant. Ranchi CRPF group centre also took out a 350-feet tricolour rally from the camp, where family members of the jawans, students, and commoners actively participated. The camp took initiatives to distribute tricolours among the public in cycling, biking, and marching through the city. "Independence Day is an opportunity to celebrate the valour and patriotism exemplified by our forefathers and reminisce about their contributions, for which we are now living in a free country. Like every year, this year also we observed the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign and distributed tricolours to instil patriotism among the commoners, especially the youngsters," said DIG of the group centre D N Lal. Fatehpur land dispute: Temple or tomb? An exclusive report based on official records
A ruckus broke out in Uttar Pradesh's Fatehpur after a group offered prayers at a tomb, considering it a temple. The Hindu side claims the land belongs to Hindus and houses a temple dedicated to Lord Krishna and Lord Shiva. The Muslim side, on the other hand, insists it is the tomb of Aurangzeb's Faujdar Abdul Samad and his son Abu what is this dispute really about? How was this tomb declared national property? This exclusive report is based on historical documents and official records related to the dispute traces back to the British era. In 1927–28, a case was filed for the division of 28 bighas of land in Fatehpur between two landlord families — Lal Girdhari Lal Rastogi and the Mansingh family. On 14 August 1928, the court under the then British government allotted Gata numbers 751, 752, and 754 to Lal Girdhari Lal Rastogi and Gata number 753 to the Mansingh family. Gata number 753 measured 1.7650 hectares (1,89,983 square feet). On 30 December 1970, Shakuntala Mansingh, wife of Nareshwar Mansingh — a descendant of the Mansingh family — sold this land to Ramnaresh Singh. Singh later divided the land into plots. According to an SDM Fatehpur investigation report dated 10 July 2014, Singh plotted 1.5890 hectares and sold it to various 2007, the Muslim side, claiming the site as the tomb of Aurangzeb's Faujdar Abdul Samad and his son Abu Bakar, filed a case before the SDM court (Case No. 26/2007). Mohammad Anees filed the case against Ramnaresh Singh. On 20 April 2012, the court ordered the removal of Singh's name from the records and registered the property under 'Mangi Maqbara (National Property), Mutawalli Mohammad Anees' of Abu Gata number 753 is recorded in Fatehpur's land revenue records as belonging to Mangi Maqbara (National Property), with Mutawalli Mohammad Anees as its 2019, the property was formally registered as Waqf land with the Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board. It was listed as Waqf No 1635, Fatehpur district, in the names of Abdul Samad and Abu Mohammad. After Mohammad Anees, his son Abu Huraira became the turning point came in 2013, when Mohammad Anees petitioned the Allahabad High Court, claiming illegal encroachment on Gata number 753. The then Chief Justice, DY Chandrachud, directed the Fatehpur district administration to investigate and prevent illegal SDM's investigation revealed that before the legal dispute, Singh had already sold plots carved out of Gata number 753. Bill passed to relax conversion of agricultural land up to two acres for industrial use
The Legislative Assembly has passed the Karnataka Land Reforms and Certain Other Law (Amendment) Bill, 2025, for allowing the conversion of agricultural land up to two acres for the establishment of new industries, particularly micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). At present, any person holding agricultural land must apply to the Deputy Commissioner for permission to divert it for non-agricultural use, as per Section 95 of the Karnataka Land Revenue Act. DC permission not needed Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda informed the House that the Deputy Commissioner's permission was not required for entrepreneurs to convert farmland up to two acres for industrial use without any difficulties. The Bill would not only ensure ease in governance but also provide a lot of relief to those who wanted to set up MSMEs on agricultural lands. An amendment would eliminate all middlemen in the conversion of agricultural lands into non-agricultural purposes up to two acres, he said. For renewable energy The Bill has proposed doing away with the need to convert agricultural land for non-agricultural use for the establishment of renewable energy projects. He said the amendment would encourage renewable energy projects for increasing the generation of clean energy projects, such as solar or wind, in the State, subject to payment of the prescribed fees to the concerned authorities. Penal clause The Bill proposed to remove a three-year imprisonment clause for people who sell agricultural land for non-agricultural use without prior approval. At present, this offence carries a fine of ₹10,000 along with a three-year imprisonment. However, it has increased the penalty to ₹1 lakh. However, the penalty would not be applicable to causes which were regularised by the government by formulating a special scheme. Property registration In order to reduce human intervention during the registration of properties and the use of digital signatures of competent authorities, the Assembly passed the Registration (Karnataka Amendment) Bill, 2025. The Bill would ensure due diligence is undertaken by the Sub-Registrar at the time of registration of property, in the interest of the public. It would ensure integration of property software to prevent illegal registration of properties in urban areas also and to simplify property registration. It would also enable e-Registration/Remote Registration of some compulsory registrable documents without the physical presence of either party in the Sub-Registrar's offices, and certified copies would be made available through a centralised virtual distribution system to avoid delay. Authorities Bills The Assembly passed a Bill related to the authorities of Banavasi, Basavakalyan, Kittur, Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Heritage Area, and Kaginele development to make the Revenue Minister or any other Minister as chosen by the Chief Minister the chairman of the authorities. At present, the Chief Minister is the chairman of all authorities.
