LIV Golf Mexico City: Legion XIII has strong Round 3 to rally for the win

Fox Sports28-04-2025

Some of the LIV Golf League's biggest names put on a show down the stretch in the final round of LIV Golf Mexico City, but it was Joaquin Niemann who ultimately claimed the individual title on Sunday at Club de Golf Chapultepec, while Legion XIII held on to win the team title.
Torque GC captain Niemann started the round two shots behind leader Bryson DeChambeau, but he charged up the leaderboard on Championship Sunday to finish at 16 under and claim his third victory in six events this season.
Playing in the final group with DeChambeau and Cameron Smith, Niemann carded seven birdies and only a single bogey for a final-round, 6-under 65. The victory keeps him firmly in the lead for the season-long individual championship race, in which he finished runner-up last season to Jon Rahm.

Niemann finished three shots ahead of Ripper GC's Lucas Herbert, who came out of nowhere with a final-round, 10-under 61 — tying the course record in the process, and DeChambeau, who carded a 70 on Sunday.
Legion XIII won the team competition despite starting the day five shots off the lead held by Ripper GC, but they made up ground quickly and eventually finished at 28 under, holding off Ripper GC (26 under), who finished second, and 4Aces GC (21 under), who rounded out the podium in third.
Captain Rahm (68), Tyrrell Hatton (68), Caleb Surratt (69) and Tom McKibbin (70) combined for Legion XIII's second win of the 2025 season and sixth overall team title since their inception at the beginning of 2024. The victory also moved Legion XIII to first place in the season-long team standings, jumping ahead of Fireballs GC, who had been in the driver's seat for most of the season.

Former Swindon boss returns to football with Championship club

Former Swindon Town boss Mark Kennedy is back in work for the first time since leaving as he has a new role at Birmingham City. Having managed the first 13 games of last season before parting company with Swindon, Kennedy has returned to football as the under-21s professional phase coach at Birmingham following their promotion to the Championship and return to academy category one status Advertisement Kennedy's stint at Swindon was a brief one, after being appointed head coach last June, he departed in October following a difficult start to the season, which saw him win just two league games and have the team in 22nd place. Advertisement Kennedy commented: 'I'm really excited to be returning to Birmingham City at what is an exciting time, not only for the Club but also for the Academy as we enter the Category One games programme next season. Why U's fans shouldn't be fearful of midfield ace ‘transfer rumours'

AS another summer transfer window rolls back around, there are few Oxford United players who create more speculation than Cameron Brannagan. The U's midfield maestro has reportedly gained more interest from a trio of Sky Bet Championship clubs since the end of the 2024/25 campaign, leading to renewed summer speculation surrounding his future. Leicester City, Sheffield United and Stoke City have all apparently expressed their interest in tempting Brannagan away from the Kassam Stadium, however for now, the speculation appears to be nothing more than that. After playing a key role in the Championship throughout the season, United fans can be reassured about Brannagan's future as he looks towards a fresh campaign. READ ALSO: Simon Eastwood announces United contract extension The former Liverpool academy graduate signed a new long-term contract in the summer of 2024, tying him down in OX4 for at least a further two seasons from this point. Another statement of Brannagan's intent was mapped out in July 2023, launching the Cam Brannagan Football Academy with fellow teammate Simon Eastwood. Brannagan came up with the idea with the U's goalkeeper on a car journey home and now oversees about 300 children at six different locations in what has been a resounding success across Oxfordshire, with sessions at Abingdon, Bicester and Kidlington. Only in October, Brannagan said: 'This is where I see myself for the rest of my life, never mind the next couple of years.' And even as recently as the end of April, Brannagan stated: 'Keep writing us off, and me being optimistic, and me wanting to push for the Premier League, I've said that I want to push for the Premier League, and I stand by that.' READ AGAIN: Midfielder restates Premier League ambition with Oxford United After a famous promotion to the Championship under the Wembley arch last May, the midfielder said United should look to aspire to the example of Ipswich Town. With one of the smallest budgets in the division, the U's exceeded expectations of many outsider opinions to actually survive the drop this season. However, with previous head coach Des Buckingham dubbing him 'one of the best players in League One', Brannagan put pen to paper, undoubtedly propelling the club into a better position with the number eight staying. The 29-year-old started 33 times for United this season, assisting four times and scoring three goals including a staggering long-range strike away at Cardiff City in a crucial relegation six-pointer. After suffering a knee injury which saw him sidelined for just over two months during the early stages of the season, Brannagan will hope he can enjoy a less interrupted year with the U's as they look to build on their solid first season back in the second tier for 25 years.

What potential fallout awaits when Ohio State sexual abuse documentary debuts

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Producers of a long-awaited documentary detailing decades of sexual abuse of young male athletes by a team doctor at the Ohio State University expect the film to get a lot of attention when it debuts on HBO next Tuesday. 'Surviving Ohio State,' the HBO documentary detailing Dr. Richard Strauss' 20 years of abusing young male athletes, debuted Monday night at the Tribeca Film Festival in front of a packed theater. Among those in the crowd were survivors of the doctor, who also appeared in the film. Also appearing in the film was NBC4's Colleen Marshall, who was in Manhattan for the premiere. Marshall and photographer Steve Wainfor interviewed many of the survivors for the award-winning series of reports, 'Culture of Cover-up.' As Fort Rapids sale looms, Columbus church eyes plan to redevelop waterpark Marshall said it was shocking to see the shared trauma of the survivors in the film and that premiere attendants left the theater with very strong opinions about Ohio State and its handling of the situation. Congressman and former Ohio State wrestling coach Jim Jordan denied any knowledge of Strauss' actions when NBC4 questioned him about reports that coaches were aware of sexual abuse allegations and aware of fencing coach Charlotte Remenyik reporting it. The film reveals that Remenyik lodged complaints to University leaders for 10 years, but nothing was done. A referee named Fred Feeney said he was groped and sexually harassed in the shower by Strauss and reported it to Jordan. Feeney claimed Jordan's response was 'That's just Strauss.' 'Surviving Ohio State' is a two-hour film and will be shown in two different theaters Tuesday night as part of the 12-day film festival. Film critics and members of the public will watch the movie before it debuts on HBO next week. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
