OPEN// Deputy FM lauds bilateral relations between Egypt, Finland
This came during his meeting with Permanent State Secretary of the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs Jukka Salovaara on the sidelines of the political consultation round between Egypt and Finland.
The discussions focused on ways to enhance bilateral relations, cooperation in trade and investment, as well as coordination between the two countries in regional and international multilateral forums.
Mahmoud emphasized the importance of boosting Finnish investments in Egypt, particularly in light of the numerous opportunities presented by Egypt's investment climate, especially in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, which offers potential for productive projects and export advantages.
He also pointed to the unprecedented infrastructure developments in recent years and highlighted the vast potential for cooperation between Egypt and Finland in areas such as information and communication technology, artificial intelligence, e-governance and cybersecurity.
Mahmoud and the Finnish official also exchanged views on various regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Mahmoud reviewed the latest developments in the Red Sea, stressing the importance of safeguarding freedom of navigation and restoring calm in the region to avoid further escalation and violence.
He expressed Egypt's welcome of the ceasefire agreement in Yemen brokered with US, and both sides discussed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip. The discussions covered Egypt's ongoing efforts to resume the ceasefire, ensure the urgent and unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, and facilitate the release of prisoners and detainees.
The situation in Ukraine was also addressed, with both parties underlining the need for a peaceful resolution to the crisis and the importance of intensifying joint efforts to support security and stability in this critical region of the world. (MENA)

Egypt, Greece FMs discuss Gaza, Libya developments and bilateral ties
CAIRO, Aug 3 (MENA) – Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Minister Badr Abdelatty received a phone call on Sunday from his Greek counterpart Giorgos Gerapetritis, as part of regular consultations between the two top diplomats, which aim to strengthen Egypt-Greece ties and exchange views on regional developments. They praised the historical and close relations between the two countries and welcomed the momentum in bilateral cooperation following the upgrade of ties to a strategic partnership in May, reaffirming their commitment to expanding collaboration in various fields. Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's commitment to protecting religious sanctities and sacred places. The minister focused in particular on Saint Catherine's Monastery and preserving its spiritual and religious significance, stressing the importance of safeguarding the site and its related antiquities. The ministers also discussed the situation in the Middle East and the catastrophic humanitarian and health conditions in the war-devastated Gaza. Abdelatty briefed Gerapetritis on ongoing efforts to reach a permanent Gaza ceasefire, underlining the urgency of halting Palestinian bloodshed and ensuring the continuous flow of humanitarian aid into the enclave. On Libya, both sides stressed the importance of holding presidential and parliamentary elections simultaneously as soon as possible. CAIRO, Aug 4 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi reiterated Egypt's firm support for the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Lebanon, and its categorical rejection of any violations that infringe on Lebanese sovereignty. During a phone call on Monday with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, Sisi reaffirmed Egypt's support for Lebanon's national institutions and their efforts to maintain security and stability. Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed al-Shinawy said the call addressed ways to strengthen bilateral ties, with both leaders stressing their mutual keenness to enhance cooperation across various sectors, particularly in economic, trade, and investment fields, to meet the aspirations of the Egyptian and Lebanese peoples. Sisi underlined Egypt's readiness to assist the Lebanese government in reconstruction efforts. The call also reviewed regional developments and the importance of de-escalation across the region.
