Boxing fans react to Jake Paul footage - 'You can't be serious'
The 'Problem Child' makes his highly-anticipated return to action this weekend, but fans have been left unimpressed after training footage of the American went viral
Boxing fans have brutally slammed Jake Paul's pad work ahead of his return to the boxing ring this weekend. The YouTuber-turned-boxer will take on former middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in Anaheim on Saturday night.
Paul has not fought since defeating Mike Tyson last November. Despite being expected to knock the boxing veteran out, the 'Problem Child' cruised to a victory on points.
Chavez Jr scored a convincing decision victory over ex-UFC star Uriah Hall in his last outing last July. However, the 39-year-old has been fairly inactive over the past few years. Many are expecting Paul to get his hand raised on fight night as he targets future bouts against the likes of Anthony Joshua and Gervonta Davis.
With just days to go until Paul's return, boxing fans have been left unimpressed after footage of him hitting the pads at the official open workout went viral. While many were quick to praise the American's speed, there were a few who were left rather uninspired by the clip.
A fourth wrote: "He looks awful." Another replied: "This has to be a joke?" "He's f****** s****," wrote another. "You can't be serious?" Another user commented, while another replied: "Why does he look like he's getting worse not better."
Nevertheless, Paul is eager to once again show the world what he is capable of and prove his critics wrong. With both men in the final stages of their respective camps, the pair recently went face-to-face to preview their blockbuster cruiserweight dust-up on Saturday night. Immediately, the two stars were quick to trade barbs before the interview exploded after the Mexican accused Paul of taking drugs.
"He said you look like you on some s***," said Chavez Jr's translator. Unable to sit and take the rather bold accusation, the social media sensation hit back: "VADA is here today.... what the f***? This is how dumb you are! He is angry. He is an angry little elf. You and your team are a bunch of idiots. You are like 'oh he is on s***.' What are you trying to say?"
Refusing to back down from the verbal spat, Chavez Jr replied: "When you fight (Mike) Tyson do not do anti-doping. When I fight in Tampa for the first time in 20 years they do not make me do anti-doping in your fight... so it is something to you. No cheating. I love boxing!"
Paul's only loss in the ring so far came against long-time rival Tommy Fury back in 2023. Since then, he has regained some momentum. On Saturday night, he fully expects to get the job done. 'Well, start planning it out, buddy," he said. "I'm gonna have my team get the jersey, we'll hang it up in the arena. It'll be nice. We can get you a little Mexican band to play a nice song for you and send you off to hiding.'

Anna Wintour stepping back from Vogue editor-in-chief role after 37 years
After 37 years as US Vogue editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour is seeking a new head of the iconic fashion magazine, as she looks to free up time to focus on more of Condé Nast's publications. Wintour will retain her roles as chief content officer for Condé Nast and global editorial director of Vogue, to whom the new head of editorial content will report. It is understood the company will be replacing Wintour's editor-in-chief role with the new head of editorial content role, moving US Vogue in line with other global editions of the magazine which have similar structures. As chief content officer, Wintour will continue to oversee every Condé Nast brand globally, including American Vogue, Wired, Vanity Fair, GQ, AD, Condé Nast Traveler, Glamour, Bon Appétit, Tatler, World of Interiors, Allure and more, with the exception of The New Yorker. Four years ago, the company changed its editorial structure, bringing together the editorial teams around the world for the first time. Every market where Condé Nast operates has a head of editorial content led by a global editorial director. The new role at American Vogue is part of that reorganization. The new structure has already been rolled out at other Vogue titles around the world. Whilst not quite a retirement announcement, the new opening signals a seismic shift for the fashion magazine as well as a coveted opening at the industry's most influential publication for aspiring fashion editors. Two years ago, Chioma Nnadi became the first Black woman to lead British Vogue as she succeeded Edward Enninful's own history-making six-year run as the magazine's first Black editor-in-chief. Wintour transformed Vogue during her decades at the magazine. She was named creative director in 1983, served as editor-in-chief of British Vogue from 1985 to 1987 then rejoined the American title as editor-in-chief. She modernised the magazine by featuring celebrities on its covers and mixing high fashion with more affordable street style. She championed emerging designers, including Marc Jacobs, Alexander McQueen and John Galliano, and broadened the brand's reach by adding new titles around the world. Wintour also oversees the annual Met Gala, fashion's biggest night and a major fundraiser for the fashion wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She is also thought to have inspired the book, turned film, turned musical - "The Devil Wears Prada," which was written by her former assistant. Wintour previously played down similarities between herself and the titular character, saying it was up to audiences to draw their own conclusions. Despite this, Wintour attended the film's premiere wearing Prada herself.

'Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez got married before Venice wedding celebration'
Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez may have kicked off a lavish three-day celebration in Venice on Thursday, but behind the scenes, the couple has already tied the knot - weeks ago. According to a well-placed insider involved in the event planning: 'They have been married for at least a month, more than a month. The marriage is fully legal and took place in America under American law.' Though this week's festivities have been widely billed as their wedding, the source revealed it's purely ceremonial. 'When they were planning the wedding, they were clear about the fact that they were already secretly married,' the insider said. Because the legal marriage has already occurred, there was no need for a license in Italy. 'There is no application for a wedding licence from the couple because it was not required. Whatever happens at the wedding on Friday, it will not be a wedding. Under Italian law, it will not be a wedding celebration, any vows said or rings exchanged will have no legal meaning," they told Mail Online. The same source added that Bezos himself confirmed the legal union and noted the pair had arranged a prenuptial agreement to safeguard his $244 billion fortune. Bezos and Sánchez reportedly married privately in the U.S., well before the high-profile Venetian celebration began.

Anna Wintour to step aside as editor of American Vogue
British-born Dame Anna will remain in charge of Vogue globally and as chief content officer of the media company Conde Nast – which oversees several prominent media brands including Vogue, Vanity Fair, GQ, Allure, Conde Nast Traveler and Wired. The new role at American Vogue will allow her to turn her full attention to her other duties in these roles, it is understood. Dame Anna reportedly broke the news to staff during a meeting earlier on Thursday. The move brings a close to Dame Anna's 37-year stint as editor of American Vogue, having overseen the day-to-day editing of the New York fashion magazine since 1988. The British-American editor is widely regarded as one of the most powerful women in publishing and as a major figure in the fashion world. Dame Anna has also run the Met Gala, an annual fundraiser in New York famous for its celebrity guest list, since 1995. Earlier this year, Dame Anna was made a member of the prestigious Order of the Companions of Honour for her services to fashion, joining Dame Judi Dench, Sir Elton John, David Hockney, and Sir Paul McCartney. The order was founded in 1917 by George V and is limited to 65 members at any one time. Appointments go to those who have made a long-standing contribution to arts, science, medicine or government. Following the investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace, Dame Anna said she did not intend on retiring anytime soon. She said: 'The last time I was here the Queen gave me a medal and we both agreed that we had been doing our job a very long time, and then this morning His Majesty asked me if this meant I was going to stop working and I said firmly, no.' Dame Anna is rumoured to have inspired a former personal assistant, Lauren Weisberger, in creating the character of Miranda Priestly for her bestselling 2003 novel The Devil Wears Prada. The book was made into a successful movie in 2006, starring Meryl Streep in the role of Priestly.
