Thomson uncertain about future in Ibrox youth role
Former Scotland midfielder Kevin Thomson has revealed he has not had "much dialogue" with Rangers about his future despite his contract as under-18s coach ending next week.The 40-year-old, who spent three years with the club as a player, returned to Ibrox in his current role in February but has not yet been offered a new contract.Thomson told BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound it would be "brilliant" to stay on now that Russell Martin has been appointed head coach and the American consortium's takeover has been completed."I went back in the second week in February," he said. "We finished up the third in May."Obviously in that time there's been a takeover, a new manager. My contract's finished on 30 June."As of yet, I've not really had much dialogue with the club. I'm just waiting to see what's what."Because of the uncertainty, former Kelty Hearts manager Thomson is open to other opportunities."Moving forward, if there's an opportunity there, then brilliant," he added. "If there's not, then you know what I'm like, I just bash on and keep grafting away."

"Michail Antonio and someone else was injured, yet they played Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus - not Ferguson. What happens next for Evan? "I just think he needs to go, be it a loan for a season or some club buys him, and you build the team around him. I think he's a top player, I really do. "I did some Malaysian TV recently with Bobby Zamora and he goes into Brighton once a week and coaches the strikers. Bobby said Evan was the best finisher at the club. "Maybe because he burst onto the scene that everyone's been expecting so much so soon. But again, with young players, you need to have a bit of time. "I just feel he's ready now to burst onto the scene for a full season with somebody. For us, with Ireland, it would be great too. Celtic misfit bids emotional farewell as reported transfer target Hayato Inamura opens scoring account with a belter
Defender Gustaf Lagerbielke has spent the season in the Eredivisie with FC Twente. Celtic misfit Gustaf Lagerbielke has penned an emotional FC Twente tribute after his loan with the Eredivisie side expired. The Swedish defender headed to the Netherlands on a season-long loan last summer and made 32 appearances in all competitions as Twente narrowly missed out on a place in Europe with a play-off defeat to AZ Alkmaar over two legs. There was some talk in the Netherlands that Twente were keen to sign the centre back on a permanent deal but that appears to have gone cold due to Lagerbielke - who the Hoops signed for around £3million from Swedish outfit Elfsborg back in 2023 - still having three years left on his contract at Celtic. Twente are however hoping to bring back fellow defender Robin Propper from city rivals Rangers after just one season in Glasgow. The Dutchman will however hold talks with new Ibrox boss Russell Martin to discuss his future next week. Ahead of his return to Lennoxtown for pre-season next month, Lagerbielke has officially said his goodbyes at Twente. His post on Instagram read: "From the first day I arrived in Enschede, I felt at home. "Every day I drove to the training field in Hengelo, I felt excitement. Every day I was with the team and the staff, I felt joy. "Every day I put on the Twente shirt, I felt proud. Every day I played for your supporters, I felt honoured. "And today I feel grateful. Grateful for all of you and for letting me be part of your family. Thank you." Elsewhere, reported Celtic target Hayato Inamura opened his account for J-League side Albirex Niigata in emphatic style. The left-sided defender only joined Albi last summer but has made 14 league appearances in Japan's top tier, with his side currently in the midst of a relegation battle. And while Albirex were on the end of another defeat at the hands of Avispa Fukuoka on Saturday, the 23-year-old did register his first goal for the club. Inamura showed his class to lash home an effort from inside the area and give his team a 1-0 lead after hosts Avispa had failed to clear a corner. However, a quickfire double from their opponents minutes later saw the scoreline reserved and while Albirex levelled things up again, Yuji Kitajima's goal on the stroke of the half-time whistle turned out to be the winner.
