Tripura Board of Secondary Education likely to conduct ‘Bochor Bachao' exam in July
The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) Monday announced it will likely hold a 'Bocchor Bachao (save a year)' examination for both Class 10 and Class 12 Board candidates after the completion of the 'self-inspection' and 'review' processes of answer scripts. The 'Bocchor Bachao' examination, first implemented in 2020, allows examinees who have failed the Board exams to save a year by taking a retest. 'We are hopeful to start Bocchor Bachao examination from July 1 or July 2,' Dr Dulal Dey, Secretary, TBSE, told media persons. The TBSE also started distributing marksheets of Madhyamik (Class 10) and Higher Secondary (Class 12) examinees on Monday. 'We have already notified that distribution of marksheets for both Madhyamik and Higher Secondary students would be done today (Monday) and tomorrow (Tuesday). After marksheet distribution, the review process will start, where a student can apply for review for a maximum of three subjects,' said Dey. The application forms for review of marks are available on the TBSE website. Students would need to submit their review application forms to their respective schools by May 8, while the schools would have to submit the applications to the Board by May 14. The TBSE secretary further said that students who want to self-inspect their answer scripts are required to submit their applications by May 25.

Tripura board exams results: 86.53% clear Madhyamik, 79.29% pass Class 12
The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) Wednesday announced Madhyamik (Class 10) and higher secondary (Class 12) board examination results, with 86.53 per cent and 79.29 per cent pass percentages, respectively. While the pass percentage for Class 10 exams is lower than last year's 87.54 per cent, that for Class 12 has slightly increased from last year's 79.27 per cent. During a briefing for mediapersons about the board results, TBSE president D Dhananjoy Gan Choudhury said since the board's establishment in 1976, the results have never been published this quickly in the last 50 years. He also said 29,670 candidates appeared in the Madhyamik examination this year, including 13,861 boys and 15,809 girls. The number of candidates who took the matriculation-level board examinations this year has decreased from 33,739 last year. Among the 21,506 candidates who passed the higher secondary examination, 9,920 are boys and 11,586 are girls. Last year, 25,350 students appeared for the higher secondary examinations. Board officials said they would not declare the list of toppers since self-inspection and review processes are yet to be completed. According to TBSE, 39 schools achieved a 100 per cent pass rate in the higher secondary examinations, while three schools recorded a complete failure rate, with all students failing the exam. In the Madhyamik exams, 345 schools had a 100 per cent pass rate, but no schools had a 100 per cent failure rate. The state board also conducts the Madrasa Alim examination as part of the Madhyamik examinations. Out of 111 candidates who appeared for this segment, 73 passed. In the Madrasa Fazil examinations, which correspond to the higher secondary examination, 15 out of 18 candidates passed in the Madrasa Fazil-arts category, while 47 out of 50 candidates passed in the Madrasa Fazil-theology examination. Students wishing to review their results can do so through their schools. TBSE Secretary Dr Dulal Dey stated that the board aims to ensure that the mark sheets reach the respective schools by May 5. This will allow students to receive hard copies of their mark sheets by May 6. Students will then have the opportunity to submit any review application forms to their schools by May 9. Schools should submit their review application forms to TBSE by May 13. If students wish to conduct a self-inspection of their evaluated answer scripts, their respective schools should notify the board within the next 25 days, said Dey. Candidates who have failed their board examinations will have the opportunity to take advantage of the state government's 'Bochor Bachao' (Save a Year) examination, which will be held on June 1-2. The 'Bochor Bachao' scheme, introduced by the state government in 2020, guarantees students entry into colleges or the next class even if they fail in two subjects, as long as they achieve a minimum of 150 marks. However, they must pass a re-test within 75 days of receiving their results to continue their higher education. Madhyamik examinations commenced on February 25 at 145 venues in 68 centres, while the higher secondary examinations were conducted from February 24 at 60 centres across Tripura. The board began evaluating answer scripts on April 2 and continued the process until April 22. In 2023, the pass percentages for higher secondary and Class 10 were 83.24 per cent and 86.02 per cent, respectively. In 2022, they were 94.46 per cent and 86 per cent, respectively.
