Notre Dame special teamer heads to the NFL
Former Notre Dame cornerback and special-teams player Max Hurleman has signed with the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers.
Hurleman, who has the ability to return kicks, hails from Pennsylvania, but closer to Philadelphia than Pittsburgh. Hurleman played in 16 games for the Fighting Irish in 2024, compiling 13 tackles -- 11 solo -- and recovered a fumble.

Hurleman has now punched his ticket to the NFL as an undrafted free agent. It's a tough road ahead -- Hurleman may have to fight just to make the Steelers' roster -- but it's still remarkable for a depth player. Even one with punt- and kick-return ability.
Good luck, Max!

Parsons responds to Durant's belief the Cowboy could join Commanders with some Quinn love
The Dallas Cowboys have one of the best pass rushers, and defensive players in the NFL in Micah Parsons. The All-Pro disrupter is up for a massive contract extension that still hasn't arrived. While the deal is expected sometime this summer, if one isn't reached, there could be some bad blood brewing between the Cowboys and the Parsons. The question is, would the level of animosity reach a point where Parsons considers not re-signing with the organization that drafted him? Or is it possible the Cowboys would move on from Parsons and trade him to another team? Although both scenarios seem extremely unlikely as Jerry Jones has a habit of making his best players sweat before making them very rich men, Parsons did say there was one team, specifically a coach, he would consider playing for if he weren't in Dallas. Well-known Washington Commanders fan and NBA star Kevin Durant, who was recently traded, predicted that Parsons would play with his favorite team and believes it will happen fairly soon. The comments came at WWE's Fanatics Fest in New York, during which the Durant trade became public knowldge. "I think he will be a Commander at some point in his career," Durant responded when asked if he wanted to recruit Parsons over to his hometown team. "I would say two years from now" "I only rock with Dan Quinn.. Anybody else," Parsons started before being interrupted by Durant. "That's all he needs to rock with!" Shocking? Yes, in print form, but when watching the video it's clearly spliced. Parsons' turn of the phrase "I only" leans more towards saying he doesn't have love for the Washington organization, "only" Quinn. There's good reason for elite edge rusher to like the idea of being back with Quinn, Parsons was a three-time All-Pro with double-digit sacks in each of his three seasons under Quinn's guidance. As one of the league's great defensive minds, Quinn helped turn Parsons into one of the NFL's best pass rushers. However, there is virtually no chance of this happening, and while Parsons' affection for Quinn has been well noted, the Cowboys aren't trading their best defensive player, who is entering in his prime. Furthermore, they aren't trading him to the Commanders, a team with whom the Cowboys have a fierce rivalry. The Cowboys also aren't going to let Parsons leave in free agency if a deal isn't reached. The team can use the franchise tag on him for a few years in hopes of securing him with a long-term deal. That means Parsons can't just sign with the Commanders if things don't go right in trying to get an extension worked out with the Cowboys. Even Durant's words indicated that it would be a move a couple years down the line. Parsons is likely to get his mega extension to become the highest paid non-QB in the league soon, which will keep him the with the Cowboys for a long time. It's probably fun for Durant to dream about, and while Parsons does love Quinn, none of this is serious for 2025. There's no telling where Parsons ends up later in his career, but he won't be playing for Quinn and the Commanders anytime soon. Durant can slip into his pj's because he's dreaming. RB James Conner can move up Arizona Cardinals' all-time list in 2025
Conner could move up to No. 2 in franchise history in rushing yards and set the record for rushing touchdowns in 2025. Arizona Cardinals running back James Conner begins his fifth season with the team in 2025. He already is among the best and most productive running backs in franchise history. Through four seasons with the Cardinals, he has 3,668 rushing yards and 37 rushing touchdowns. He is fourth in franchise history in running yards and second in rushing touchdowns. He has had over 1,000 yards in the last two seasons. With another solid season, he will move up to second place in one category and No. 1 in another. Conner will pass Stump Mitchell for second place all-time with 981 rushing yards in 2025. Mitchell had 4,649 career rushing yards for the Cardinals from 1981-1989. Will Conner be able to reach No. 1? Ottis Anderson is the team's all-time leader with 7,999 career yards. He needs 4,332 more rushing yards. That seems like a tough ask. However, he can set the franchise record with touchdown runs. Conner has 37. Anderson holds the franchise high with 46. With 10 rushing scores, he will set the new record. He had eight, seven and seven in each of the last three seasons, but he had 15 in 2021, so he does have it in him. With the potential emergence of second-year running back Trey Benson, it could be more difficult for Conner to reach those milestones. Colorado football targets four key 2026 commitments ahead of early July decisions
Whether the outcomes are positive or not, the Colorado Buffaloes are nearing a pivotal stretch in their 2026 recruiting campaign. Head coach Deion Sanders, although currently away from the team, has a pair of three-star commitments already in the fold — tight end Gavin Mueller from Illinois and defensive lineman Domata Peko Jr. — but that list is likely to grow in the coming weeks. Several highly touted prospects are expected to announce their college commitments soon, with four Colorado targets announcing their decisions by July 12. Here is a breakdown of the four recruits who could potentially become the next additions to Colorado's 2026 class: 4-star OL Deacon Schmitt Commitment date: June 28 The top in-state product per 247Sports, Deacon Schmitt, is set to choose between Colorado, Alabama and Oklahoma. Schmitt is from Windsor, Colorado, which is just a short drive from Boulder. He could choose to stay close to home and become an immediate fan favorite. "The environment is always a blast!" Schmitt told On3. "Growing up in Colorado, I have been around Boulder a lot! The opportunity to become a hometown hero is very special to me. I love CU in general. Everyone there is awesome and they are working on something very special!" 3-star OL Tripp Skewes Commitment date: July 1 Skewes is another in-state product, but played his high school ball south of Boulder, closer to downtown Denver. The 6-foot-7, 300-pound offensive tackle is narrowing his focus to Colorado, Vanderbilt, North Carolina and Texas Tech. After visiting all four schools this summer, the Buffs appear to have momentum thanks to their proximity. 5-star WR Cederian Morgan Commitment date: July 2 Morgan can be a game-changing receiver at 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds. He ranks as one of the elite pass catchers in the 2026 class. His recent visit to Colorado was a surprise, perhaps indicating increased interest between the two parties. Landing him would be a signature recruiting victory for Sanders, who typically is good for at least one big splash per recruiting cycle. 4-star LB Rodney Colton Jr. Commitment: July 12 With depth at linebacker being a big priority, Colton would be an impact addition for the Buffs. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound recruit recently wrapped up a visit to Boulder and will choose between Colorado, Penn State, Florida State, UCLA and Ole Miss. July could be a transformative month for a Colorado recruiting class that only has two commitments through mid-June. Follow Charlie Strella on X, Threads and Instagram.
