However, she became a household name at this summer's Euro 2025 after scoring equalisers against Sweden and Italy in the knockout stages of the competition and was named Young Player of the Tournament.
Agyemang's stellar summer continued on Thursday, when she was named as one of five players in contention for the Women's Kopa Trophy, awarded to the best under-21 female footballer.
Her England team-mate Hannah Hampton has been nominated for the Yachine Trophy, given to the best women's goalkeeper.
The 24-year-old was ever-present for Chelsea last season and was a key cog in the Lionesses' Euros victory, where she made two brilliant saves in England's penalty shoot-out win against Spain in the final.
Myles Lewis-Skelly was also among the nominees for the men's Kopa Trophy after enjoying a breakout season with Arsenal.
The remaining Ballon d'Or nominees are set to be announced later on Thursday.

Arsenal identify Eberechi Eze alternative but warned transfer would be a mistake
Arsenal are looking at Ademola Lookman as an alternative to Eberechi Eze this summer, but have been warned that would be a mistake by their former player Jermaine Pennant. The Gunners have been busy in the transfer market during this window, bringing in the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Martin Zubimendi, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga. They may not be done just yet, though, with Crystal Palace and England star Eze continuing to be linked with a move across London to the Emirates. Eze had a release clause of £68m in his contract earlier this summer but that has now expired and the Eagles' asking price for the forward is unclear. The 27-year-old's contract at Selhurst Park runs until 2027 so Palace are not in immediate pressure to sell him, but his market value is unlikely to go up from this point. In The Mixer: Exclusive analysis, FPL tips and transfer talk sent straight to your inbox every week – sign up, it's an open goal. If Arsenal cannot do a deal for Eze, the Sun reports that they are eyeing Atalanta's Lookman, who is very keen to leave his current club this summer. Inter Milan want to sign the Nigeria international and he has handed in a transfer request, but Atalanta are digging their heels in. Pennant feels that Lookman is not at the standard of Eze and Arsenal should be focussing on a deal for the Crystal Palace star rather than looking at the Atalanta man. 'Personally Arsenal should be signing Eze. He adds a lot more flair in the midfield. In the past I feel as though they've relied heavily on Odegaard to be the creator around the box,' Pennant told 'Eze fits the creative mould perfectly. He can bring players in, he can assist, he picks the ball up and drives past players and we know he can score goals. For me, that's a very good signing and a signing that elevates Arsenal.' 'Look at the figures being handed around for players. £70m, £80m, even in the £90m's. Eze at £68m is good business. You'd be happy with that. Liverpool sold Diaz for £65m. If you want to be competitive you've got to start paying the bucks and Arsenal are resistant to spending high but you've got to pay the money for Eze.' On the 27-year-old Lookman, Pennant added: 'Lookman is a good player and he's done well at Atalanta but you've got to think about whether he can do it consistently in the Premier League and if he's proven in the league. Is he much better than [Leandro] Trossard? 'He'd be another signing that might add strength in depth but it wouldn't make me think Arsenal are going to now win the league. Arsenal need top players now.' More Trending Former Liverpool winger Pennant is a fan of Trossard and thinks the Belgian should be kept at Arsenal, despite links with a move away from the club this summer. 'Trossard was a key part of Arsenal's title charge with late goals so I think they need to keep him even if it makes him unhappy,' he said. 'With him you'll get eight or nine goals a season minimum.' Speaking about Arsenal's intentions in the transfer market as the new Premier League season approaches, manager Mikel Arteta said on Saturday: 'Let's see what happens, in terms of where the squad is in the next few weeks. But we are actively looking at options. 'As well, there are a few players that, maybe, they have to leave as well. So, we will be open to see what happens.'

'I refused Arsenal captain's order at training camp – he banned me from nights out for months'
David Bentley has opened up on the punishment he received from Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira after he sat in the skipper's seat while the squad were away at a training camp David Bentley has shared a hilarious anecdote about how Patrick Vieira banned him from nights out for months after the captain was teased at a training camp. Bentley – once tipped to be Arsenal's next big star – emerged in the first team set-up from the Gunners' academy back in 2001. Arsene Wenger 's tenure in north London is remembered as one of the most iconic in the club's history, including their unbeaten Premier League-winning season in 2003/04. While raw talent and exceptional teamwork were key to Arsenal's triumphs in the early noughties. However, the squad's no-nonsense approach both on and off the pitch – epitomised by Vieira's stern presence – also played a significant role. This was something Bentley quickly discovered after graduating from the Hale End youth system, finding himself in hot water with Vieira during his first training camp away with the senior stars. Speaking on the Undr The Cosh podcast, the now 40-year-old recalled his cheeky-chap antics as a teen at Arsenal, saying: "We used to go to Austria to this training camp where they always wanted to go up in the mountains, out the way. And I had no idea, it was my first time. "We've come down for breakfast, and what happened at Arsenal – it probably happens everywhere – was you had a French table, the English table, everybody used to kind of sit with people they get on with. "I've come down, me being me, I'm just wanting to be friends with everyone. I think I'm mates with everyone. French tables there, I think there's [Sylvain] Wiltord, [Robert] Pires and whoever. And there's a seat and I went, 'I'm sitting there.' So I've stepped in, and I've sat down and I went, 'Morning lads, you alright?' You know, 'What you up to last night? Have a good w***?' And all that, trying to be their mate. "And cause I don't like silence as well, I thought they can do that can't they? Be all calm. And as I've sat there, I've looked around and these lot are smirking. I'm going, 'They're on me here, I'm going to have to back myself up. They're mugging me off.' "And I just got a big slap, and I'm sat and I've looked up and Patrick, club captain... 'Get out my seat. You're in my seat.' And do you know when you're like, 'Ah f***, I'm red.' "In that moment, I thought, 'If I say yes, I'm going to look like a right mug, and if I say no, I'm going to look like a right mug. I can't win.' So I went with the option of, 'No.'" Bentley then revealed how he instantly wished he'd backed down, with Vieira stopping him from going out with his team-mates for months afterwards. He added (via Football London): "I mean, me and him are good mates now, and we were after and he quite liked it. "But for three, four months, I wasn't allowed to go on lads' nights out. I was kicked... honestly, every training session he'd snap me. I used to love it, I used to play with it. I used to go, 'Patrick, where we going tonight son?!' I think I turned up a couple of times, 'I know I'm not invited, but shut up!'" Sadly for Bentley, his time at Arsenal didn't quite pan out as expected, with only nine appearances to his name before being transferred to Blackburn Rovers in 2006. After netting 21 goals and providing an equal number of assists for Rovers, Bentley made his way back to north London to join Tottenham Hotspur. His career also included loan stints with Birmingham City, West Ham, Rostov and Blackburn before he decided to hang up his boots in July 2014, aged just 29.
