Defence Industry Minister Pat Conroy says Australia reached a deal with Japan to obtain one of the 'most advanced' frigates in the world.
Japan is set to build Australia's future Mogami-class frigates with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries beating out its German rival to progress through to the final round of negotiations.
Mr Conroy told Sky News Australia that it is a 'great day' for the Royal Australian Navy.
