Yahoo13-04-2025

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Savannah native and Louisiana State University women's basketball star Flau'jae posted to multiple social media accounts on April 12 she was 'out' at LSU.
The post means she is leaving LSU, but she did not specify her plans for the future. Towards the end of the Instagram post, she said, 'Stay tuned for a major announcement soon.'
Johnson has a couple of options at her disposal. She can enter the transfer portal or declare for the WNBA draft.
The post also said, 'To Louisiana State Univesity, I'm forever indebted for the opportunity to pursue my dreams.'
Johnson played in 34 of LSU's 37 games, starting each game she appeared in. The guard was the second leading scorer on the Lady Tigers (18.6) behind Aneesah Morrow by one-tenth of a point. She was also tied for the second on the team in minutes played per game.
A text message from WSAV to Johnson's mother was not returned at the time this article was published.

Two SEC Programs on ‘Commitment Watch' For Highly Touted Quarterback After Official Visits

Two SEC Programs on 'Commitment Watch' For Highly Touted Quarterback After Official Visits originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Celina, Texas, four-star quarterback Bowe Bentley has emerged as one of the nation's top prospects for the class of 2026, with LSU and Oklahoma battling it out for his commitment. Advertisement He's a 6-foot-2, 200-pound dual-threat quarterback and led Celina High School to a 16-0 record and a state championship in 2024, throwing for 3,211 yards, 47 touchdowns, and just seven interceptions. He added 923 rushing yards along with 16 touchdowns on the ground. Bentley can spread the ball across the field with his strong arm and great accuracy. He brings mobility as well, giving him a dynamic advantage while under pressure. Bentley's rapid rise has seen him climb the rankings as he mulls a huge decision. According to 247Sports, he's the No. 78 ranked overall recruit and the seventh quarterback in the class. Advertisement It seems as if Bentley is getting closer to a decision. After his recent trips to Baton Rouge (May 31, 2025) and Norman (June 6-8, 2025), Bentley is officially on commitment watch. LSU appeals to the young quarterback because of its recent history of developing the position with recent Heisman winners Jayden Daniels and Joe Burrow. The Tigers consistently bring elite skill position players to the program, which also makes them very enticing. On the other side, Oklahoma's offensive coordinator Ben Abruckle's fast-paced scheme saw Cam Ward have success just two years ago at Washington State. The Sooners' close proximity to his home state of Texas could also be a driving factor for his choice. As a decision gets closer, both programs are hopeful to land one of the best quarterbacks in next year's class. College World Series Preview: 3 things to know about Coastal Carolina

College World Series Preview: 3 things to know about Coastal Carolina The College World Series returns this week for the 75th anniversary of the CWS in Omaha. LSU baseball is headed to Omaha for the 20th time in program history. The Tigers will be joined by seven other programs looking to make a run at the national title. Just about every pocket of the country is represented in the field of eight. There's a heavy West Coast presence with Arizona, Oregon State, and UCLA. LSU and Arkansas represent the boot, while Murray State and Louisville represent Kentucky. From the Southeast, we have Coastal Carolina. We have a fresh field as none of these teams were in Omaha last year. A few schools are chasing their first national championship while programs like LSU and Arizona look to add to a large trophy case. Ahead of the CWS, we'll examine all eight teams. With only two SEC teams in the field, LSU fans are likely unfamiliar with most of these squads. Here are three things to know about Coastal Carolina. The Chanticleers are riding a 23-game win streak Coastal Carolina is the hottest team in college baseball right now. The Chanticleers' last loss came on April 22 at The College of Charleston. Since then, Coastal Carolina has notched four sweeps and won the Sun Belt Tournament. There are always questions about how teams like Coastal will fare against power conference competition, but CCU quieted those concerns. The win streak includes a victory over Clemson and a sweep of Auburn in the super regional. This team has the talent to hang with the top squads in college baseball. According to the Massey Ratings, Coastal Carolina is the fourth-best team in the sport. They're far from a sleeper in Omaha. Led Sun Belt in stolen bases and fielding percentage The little things can be the difference in June baseball. Coastal Carolina led the Sun Belt in stolen bases and fielding percentage. The Chanticleers can create extra runs on offense and know how to keep them off the board on defense. Sebastian Alexander is one of the top runners in the country with 27 steals on the year. Wells Sykes can run too, with 17 steals to his name. CCU has a strong defense behind the plate as well, with First-Team All-Sun Belt catcher Caden Bodine. Pitching staff is deep The only pitching staff in Omaha that can rival Coastal Carolina from a depth standpoint is Arkansas, and the Razorbacks are on the other side of the bracket. With a strong starting rotation and deep bullpen, the Chanticleers have the tools to fight out of the losers' bracket if they must. Jacob Morrison has been one of the top pitchers in the country all year. The big righty is 11-0 with a 2.15 ERA and 0.93 WHIP in 96.1 innings pitched. Along with Morrison, you have Riley Eikhoff, who has a 2.90 ERA in 15 starts. It doesn't stop there as Cameron Flukey, 3.24 ERA in 91.2 innings, rounds out the rotation. Not many teams have three bonafide starters like that.

Jets' Jermaine Johnson embracing high expectations for injury return — with Aaron Rodgers bonus

Jermaine Johnson was texting former teammate Aaron Rodgers on Monday night. Johnson would not say if the two discussed Week 1, when Rodgers will lead the Steelers into MetLife Stadium to face the Jets. Advertisement But he acknowledged that he can't wait to face him. For Johnson, it will mean more than just getting a chance to sack Rodgers. It will be his first game back after tearing his right Achilles tendon in Week 2 last season. 'Obviously, I'm excited. He's excited. It was a pleasure having Aaron around. I wish him the best,' Johnson said. 'When I get between those lines, there's no friends. I think he knows that and he feels the same. I'm excited. It's just another game, but for me it's going to be my first game back. There's going to be a lot of emotions. When my emotions run high, I tend to play pretty well.' Advertisement Johnson's locker was near Rodgers' in the Jets locker room in Florham Park. Rodgers often held court at his locker and Johnson was one of the players who often was hanging with him. When Johnson tore his Achilles last September, it was Rodgers who gave him advice after dealing with the same injury the year before. 4 Jets linebacker Jermaine Johnson talks to the media at minicamp in Florham Park. Bill Kostroun/New York Post That was the beginning of the long road back for Johnson. On Tuesday, Johnson was on a side field with trainers, pulling a weighted sled behind him as his teammates opened up their three-day minicamp. Advertisement The Jets expect Johnson to return at some point in training camp and definitely in time for the regular season. Johnson said he's learned about himself during this process. 'I learned that I'm a pretty good handyman,' Johnson joked. 'I don't got to pay somebody from Task Rabbit to do things around the house anymore.' Then, Johnson really answered the question. 'I've always been pretty good at patience,' Johnson said. 'You all know it, it wasn't the easiest or shortest ride getting here. It was just another thing. I've never been seriously injured. Oddly enough, it added some confidence to me. I would always see guys get season-ending injuries and be like, 'Dang, I don't know if I've got what it takes to do that.' Now, going through it, it's like obviously I do. I just feel so confident right now.' Advertisement 4 Jets linebacker Jermaine Johnson sacks Giants quarterback Tommy DiVito in the fourth quarter during a 2023 game. Charles Wenzelberg / New York Post The Jets are counting on Johnson to return to his pre-injury form. He had 7.5 sacks and made the Pro Bowl in 2023. He was expected to be a big piece of the 2024 defense, then the injury happened. New Jets coach Aaron Glenn is familiar with Johnson, having coached him in the 2022 Senior Bowl. 'There's things that stand out going back to college and even at the Senior Bowl when I had a chance to coach him then,' Glenn said. 'He's a hard-nosed, physical, violent player that's very athletic, that has the ability to win off the edge and make plays on the quarterback. Listen, you don't get a lot of guys that has the athleticism that he does but still be strong and powerful to hold up against the run. I'm excited to see that player get out there in training camp and going into the first game. He's going to be a huge part of what we're doing.' 4 Quarterback Aaron Rodgers of the Pittsburgh Steelers participates during mandatory minicamp at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on June 10, 2025. Bill Kostroun/New York Post The new Jets regime showed its belief in Johnson when it picked up his fifth-year option this spring. That guarantees him $13.4 million in 2026 if the Jets and Johnson don't agree to a long-term deal before then. 'It's a big investment,' Johnson said. 'They've seen enough of me and heard enough about me that they're willing to dive into that for at least one more year. It means a lot to me. I'm always a man of my word and a man of honor. To me, that's them lifting their end of the cup and now it's my turn to lift my end of the cup.'
