Adhyayan Suman calls himself the best example of nepotism who didn't get work: 'I don't own a home at 37'

Time of India2 days ago

Adhyayan Suman, who debuted in 2008, calls himself a victim of reverse nepotism, struggling to get work despite his lineage. Battling depression, he felt trapped in luxury, realizing that at 37, he still doesn't own a home, highlighting the emptiness behind inherited wealth and fame.
Adhyayan Suman
made his debut in 2008 with 'Haal–e–dil'. His follow-up film, 'Raaz – The Mystery Continues', achieved commercial success. Adhyayan's father,
Shekhar Suman
, has openly discussed the actor's battle with depression and suicidal thoughts, which arose from the challenges he faced in Bollywood.
In an interview, Adhyayan described himself as a victim of reverse nepotism and expressed remorse over not yet owning a home.
Reverse Nepotism
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Adhyayan described his situation as a unique example of nepotism—one where he didn't receive work opportunities. He candidly stated, 'I can say I am the best example of nepotism, jisko kaam nahi mila nepotism ki wajah se, or I can prove that.
And you know I feel nepotism is a very futile debate, and I think it became a sort of fashion conversation.'
Battling Depression
Furthermore, Adhyayan spoke about a difficult period in his life when he battled depression and felt trapped despite living in a penthouse. He explained that luxury can feel like a prison at times, regardless of the number of cars, houses, penthouses, or vacations one has. For someone like him, who has a strong desire to achieve something meaningful in life, such material comforts can actually lead to feelings of misery.
Reflections on Ownership
He reflected that after a certain point, owning cars and houses doesn't truly feel like ownership since these belong to his father and are the result of his hard work. Although he has enjoyed these luxuries, he feels a sense of emptiness, realizing that at the age of 37, he still does not own a home of his own.

Thaman S's background score heightens the drama effectively, and the cinematography offers a gritty, lived-in aesthetic. Action sequences, while often overindulgent, are slick and impactful. The dialogues, penned by Saurabh Gupta and Sai Madhav Burra, are over-the-top and theatrical—often more memorable than the scenes themselves.'However, the same review pointed out that the narrative pacing became a concern after the interval. 'The second half drags, and the film's 153-minute runtime begins to weigh heavily. A forced item number featuring Urvashi Rautela feels unnecessary and only adds to the film's bloated feel.'On the professional front, Sunny Deol is not slowing down. After Jaat, he is preparing for the release of Border 2, the much-awaited sequel to the 1997 war you missed it in theatres, Jaat is now streaming on Netflix from June 5, 2025.

The much-anticipated film has become a murder thriller this time with multiple endings, featuring multiple killers. It is said to be released on June 6. Ahead of its release, the advance bookings have predicted the fate of Housefull 5. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Housefull 5 has so far sold 96,304 tickets for 11,700 shows across India in all formats. It has collected ₹ 2.85 crore from its ticket sales. Considering blocked seats, Housefull 5 is set to premiere with ₹ ₹ 6.87 crore gross earnings. It is believed that the film, the fifth installment in the franchise, will have the widest release with over 5,000 screenings in India alone, as per reports. Housefull 5 will clash with the Hindi version of Kamal Haasan's Thug Life which will be released a day ahead of Housefull 6's opening. It will also clash with Maddock Films' Bhool Chuk Maaf, featuring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi. Meanwhile, film trade analysts are yet to share the early predictions for Housefull 5. The film features an ensemble cast, including Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Fardeen Khan, Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, Ranjeet, Johny Lever and the leading ladies Nargis Fakhri, Sonam Bajwa and Soundarya Sharma. Housefull 5 is billed as the most expensive installment of the Housefull series, and also the most expensive comedy film in India. The film's total budget is to be around ₹ 225 crore, without print and advertisement costs, suggested reports. However, the makers had shared earlier that the film was initially set with a budget of ₹ 350 crore. The budget came down after going through casting changes.
