Pakistan hikes assembly speaker, Senate chairman salaries to Rs 1.3 million
The monthly salary for both officials has been fixed at Rs 1.3 million and they will also receive an additional 50 per cent as a temporary allowance on top of it, according to the notification
Press Trust of India Islamabad
The Pakistani government has formally raised the monthly salaries of the National Assembly speaker and the Senate chairman to Rs 1.3 million, according to a media report on Saturday.
The new salary marks a significant rise from their previous salary of Rs 205,000.
The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs issued the notification on May 29, but details surfaced on Friday, Samaa TV reported.
The monthly salary for both officials has been fixed at Rs 1.3 million and they will also receive an additional 50 per cent as a temporary allowance on top of it, according to the notification.
The revised salary structure will be effective retrospectively from January 1, 2025.
Earlier on March 21, it was reported that the salaries and allowances of federal cabinet members had been significantly increased, with federal ministers, ministers of state and advisers receiving hikes of up to 188 per cent.
Sources had said that the federal ministers approved a summary of the salary increments for themselves and ministers of state through circulation.
An amendment to the Federal Ministers and Ministers of State (Allowances and Salaries) Act, 1975, was approved, paving the way for these increases.
Following the bill's approval, the revised salary of a federal minister, minister of state and adviser would stand at Rs 519,000. Previously, federal ministers were earning Rs 200,000, while ministers of state had a salary of Rs 180,000.
This decision marked a substantial 159 per cent increase in the salaries of federal ministers, while ministers of state and advisers have witnessed an increment of up to 188 per cent.
Earlier this year, the Finance Committee had approved an increase in the salaries of members of the National Assembly and senators, raising their monthly pay to Rs 519,000, according to the report.

As Pakistan fails to get into ‘expected' UNSC panels, India in talks with friends
India is working with its partners and friends on the UN Security Council to blunt Pakistan's moves, as Islamabad has been appointed to key counter-terror committees at the UNSC. Sources in New York told The Indian Express that Pakistan demanded to be the chair of the 1267 Sanctions Committee; 1540 (Non-Proliferation) Sanctions Committee; 1988 (Taliban) Committee and Chair of the 1373 Counter Terrorism Committee (CTC). Sources said the allocation of positions 'should have been undertaken by January 2025'. It is learnt that a 'lack of consensus and unreasonable demands' by Pakistan prevented a consensus being formed till June 2025. 'The Council members were not happy with this … attitude depicted by the Pakistan,' a source said. Pakistan had to be satisfied with 'only one full Chairship' — Chair of the 1988 (Taliban) Sanctions Committee [Russia and Guyana are the Vice-Chairs], sources said . The other positions are Vice-Chair of the 1373 CTC [along with France and Russia]; Sanctions Informal Working Group (IWG) [Co-Chair with Greece] and Documentation IWG [Co-chair with Denmark.] 'The… positions allocated to Pakistan is far below its… aspirations,' the source said. India also chaired the same 1988 (Taliban) Sanctions Committee during its UNSC 2021-22 term along with the Chair of the 1970 Libya Sanctions Committee. Sources said the position of Vice-Chair of 1373 CTC which Pakistan was allocated is 'not something very substantive'. 'It is… more ceremonial in nature. Pakistan… has not been able to get its way. India was the Chair of the 1373 CTC in 2022. India had earlier also, during its 2011-12 UNSC term, chaired the 1373 CTC.' For the first time in the history of the UNSC, an IWG will have two co-Chairs. This can be interpreted as a move by the Council to rein in Pakistan. Despite the Pakistani delegation's visit to the UN, the result is not something Pakistan will be happy with. This reflects Pakistan's standing and credibility in the UN, sources said. Sources said all the major terrorist attacks and networks have their origins in Pakistan. Some examples are: Sources said Pakistan's role as a state sponsor of terrorism is well known. 'Out of around 254 individuals and 89 entities designated in the 1267 Sanctions Committee (Al-Qaeda and ISIL), Pakistan has the unrivalled distinction of over 50 individuals and entities linked to it designated in the 1267 Sanctions Committee… it is Pakistan which is at unease… that more of its nationals and entities will be added to the Sanctions Committees/Regimes.' The source said India will be working 'closely with friends' in the Council. Shubhajit Roy, Diplomatic Editor at The Indian Express, has been a journalist for more than 25 years now. Horti dept offers 50% subsidy on solar pumps for Mysuru, Chamarajanagar farmers
Mysuru: The horticulture department has introduced a 50% subsidy on solar-powered irrigation pumps for growers in Mysuru and Chamarajanagar. Under the scheme, Rs 1 lakh will be provided for a 3 HP solar pump and Rs 3 lakh for a 5 HP pump. The initiative not only reduces operational costs, but also promotes sustainable irrigation over diesel or grid-powered systems. Farmers cultivating horticulture crops in their fields can apply for the scheme without the condition of having drip irrigation and sprinkler systems installed to avail themselves of the benefit. The department has given preference to small and marginal farmers in the first phase and plans to extend the scheme to others later. To obtain this benefit for the installation of solar pumps from the horticulture department, farmers must submit a written affidavit certified by Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited, stating that they did not benefit from KREDL and did not avail themselves of the benefit from the PM KUSUM scheme. Both Chamarajanagar and Mysuru districts have set a target of distribution for 213 farmers in the twin districts after identifying the beneficiaries taluk-wise in the 2025-26 financial year. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo To avail themselves of the subsidy benefit from the horticulture department for the installation of solar pumps, farmers must obtain prior work order permission from the office of the deputy director of horticulture after submitting an application with their taluk assistant director of horticulture, Chamarajanagar deputy director of horticulture Shivarprasad told TOI. Farmers must install solar pumps after purchasing them from a certified company from the state energy department at their own cost, then claim the subsidy amount after full installation from the department, he said. He mentioned that apart from providing a 50% subsidy for the installation of solar pumps, his department has also provided a 75% subsidy to encourage honeybee farming for general category farmers and a 90% subsidy for SC/ST farmers. Speaking to TOI, deputy director of horticulture of Mysuru district, Manjunath Angadi said that the department has already given instructions to all taluk assistant directors of horticulture to start identifying the beneficiaries to avail themselves of the subsidy benefit for the installation of solar pumps in their horticulture fields and start distributing subsidies after the completion of installation. The department has decided to encourage farmers to adopt such renewable energy solutions by installing solar pumps. This scheme is entirely different from the PM Kusum scheme, he said.

Gurdwara bodies of Haryana and Punjab clash over control of Miri Piri group of institutions
1 2 3 Chandigarh: Within days of establishing the elected body, tensions have emerged between the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee manned trust, which manages the Miri-Piri group of institutions, including the medical college at Kurukshetra. The war of words between the two Sikh bodies intensified after the executive body of the HSGMC, led by president Jagdish Singh Jhinda, former president Baljit Singh Daduwal, and other executive members, visited the medical college site in Shahabad Markanda. This was followed by a meeting with the Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini. During their visit to the medical college, Jhinda and Baljit Singh Daduwal asked the local management to hand over control to the HSGMC as the premises were established on the land of Gurdwara Mastgarh Sahib. "During their tenure, the SGPC created a private trust and raised the building of the said medical college on the land owned by Gurdwara Sahib. Now, with the implementation of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Act 2014, all the gurughars are under the control of the HSGMC. According to the act, the movable and immovable assets on gurughars and their land are now under the control of the HSGMC. Since the Badal family created a family trust to manage this institute, we have termed this as illegal and initiated the process to acquire the same in accordance with the provisions of the Act," said Baljit Singh Daduwal. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Beyond Text Generation: An AI Tool That Helps You Write Better Grammarly Install Now Undo "The college has 100 medical seats, but no infrastructure. Once we manage the affairs, we shall put everything in place systematically. We have brought this to the notice of the CM as well as the govt and have sought their support," said Daduwal. When contacted, Sukhminder Singh, secretary of the trust managing the Miri Piri group of institutions, categorically dismissed the claims of the HSGMC. "Firstly, the issue related to this institution is under litigation and the court has imposed a stay. They can download the orders from the website and get those vetted by the govt as well as their legal team. Let them get the stay vacated and take directions from the court," said Sukhminder Singh.
