Pasir Gudang Hospital To Begin Operations After Achieving 50 Pct Readiness
He said the Ministry of Health (MOH) is carrying out meticulous preparations with the Johor government to ensure basic amenities, medical equipment and human resources are sufficient before the hospital begins operations.
"The Johor Menteri Besar and I agreed to ensure that we achieve at least around 50 per cent readiness, not just in terms of the physical building, but also equipment and human resources, before fully operating,' he told a media conference after launching the Malaysian Year of Medical Tourism (MYMT) 2026 here today.
Dzulkefly also said that the hospital staff intake process is expected to be completed by the end of this year or the first quarter of 2026, at the latest.
"The state government will try to give whatever assistance it can to the MOH to ensure all human resources supply can be met by at least 50 per cent for us to begin operations,' he said.
Previously, the HPG - a 20.6-hectare facility located in Bandar Seri Alam that is equipped with 304 beds and offering 14 specialist services - was reported to be ready to start operating in phases from Aug 1.
Meanwhile, Dzulkefly expressed his gratitude following the announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday that the government will expedite the filling of over 4,000 positions at public health facilities, including contract appointments for doctors.
"We are extremely grateful because we have received 4,253 positions, and just recently received the official letter from the Public Services Commission (SPA) regarding the matter.
"We will immediately work on filling the positions, especially to push for the transition of the status of doctors and health workers from contract for service to contract of service and eventually to permanent positions,' he said.

Northern region blood centre to complete mid-October, Ahmad says
SUNGAI PETANI: The Northern Region Blood Centre is on track for completion by mid-October, according to Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan. The RM49.866 million project, supervised by the Kedah Public Works Department (JKR), began construction on August 2, 2021. Ahmad stated that the facility will include a main blood centre block, mechanical and electrical sections, parking spaces, a cafeteria, and a guardhouse. 'The physical progress has reached 93 per cent, with no major issues reported,' he said after inspecting the site. The centre will feature a modern laboratory, donor-friendly rooms, and an integrated logistics system to ensure safe and sufficient blood supply. 'Previously, blood was stored only in hospitals, many of which lacked sufficient space,' Ahmad explained. KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry (MOH) is expediting the recruitment process to fill 4,352 vacancies in the healthcare sector to address urgent staffing needs. Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad announced the move following discussions at a recent Cabinet meeting. 'I have emphasised and instructed the MOH secretary-general and Health director-general to fast-track the recruitment process rather than following the conventional approach,' he said after officiating the Annual Scientific Meeting and 55th Annual General Meeting of the Malaysian Society of Radiographers. Dzulkefly also highlighted the importance of registration for healthcare practitioners under the Allied Health Professions Act 2016 (Act 774). He urged all professionals to complete their official registration and obtain the Annual Practising Certificate (APC) before December 31, 2026. MOH Allied Health Sciences Division director L. Mageswary warned that unregistered practitioners or those working without a valid APC could face legal consequences. 'Anyone employing unregistered individuals to carry out duties as allied health professionals is committing an offence,' she said. Penalties include fines up to RM50,000, imprisonment of up to two years, or both. For corporate bodies, fines may reach RM100,000, with additional daily penalties for continuing violations. - Bernama

KUALA LUMPUR, July 26 — The Health Ministry (MOH) will fill 4,352 positions in the healthcare sector through a fast-track process to meet the urgent need for medical personnel, said Minister Datuk Seri Dzulkefly Ahmad. He said the matter was discussed at the Cabinet meeting yesterday, during which he stressed the importance of accelerating the process. 'I have emphasised and instructed the MOH secretary-general and Health director-general to fast-track the recruitment process rather than following the conventional approach,' he told Bernama after officiating the Annual Scientific Meeting and 55th Annual General Meeting of the Malaysian Society of Radiographers here today. Touching on the registration of healthcare practitioners under the Allied Health Professions Act 2016 (Act 774), Dzulkefly urged all practitioners to complete their official registration and obtain the Annual Practising Certificate (APC) before December 31, 2026. He said this was vital to establish a recognised, regulated and quality-driven allied health ecosystem. Meanwhile, MOH Allied Health Sciences Division director L Mageswary said individuals who fail to register or practise without a valid APC could face legal action. 'Anyone employing unregistered individuals to carry out duties as allied health professionals is committing an offence. 'If convicted, the offender may be fined up to RM50,000 or jailed for up to two years, or both. For continuing offences, an additional fine of up to RM1,000 per day may be imposed after conviction. 'For corporate bodies, partnerships or any organisational entities, the fine may reach up to RM100,000, with an additional fine of RM5,000 per day for continuing offences,' she said. — Bernama
