Bihar CM Nitish Kumar hails PM Modi's leadership for state's development
PM Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation of multiple development projects worth over Rs 48,520 crore on Friday. He was joined by CM Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Samrat Chowdhary.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the steps being taken by the Union Government towards Bihar's development. Nitish Kumar also praised the Union Government's step to conduct the caste enumeration process in the next population census.
"The development work that is being done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the development of Bihar. He also announced assistance for Bihar in the budget. Whatever Bihar has received is a matter of pride. I salute the Centre for announcing the caste-based census. People from other parties were trying to create confusion ", Nitish Kumar said.
Nitish Kumar asserted that as soon as the NDA came to power in Bihar, they began to work for the development of the state. He added that his government has paid special attention towards the health sector and is working to connect every household with roads.
The Bihar CM stressed that many other developmental works, which include the construction of new houses and settlements, will be completed by June 2025.
"Today, women can be seen in such large numbers. Did the previous government do any work for women before this? As soon as we came to power, we have worked for everyone since then. We are completely engaged in the development of Bihar, and Bihar is developing. Special attention was given to the health sector. We worked to connect every house with road, tap water and toll plazas with roads. This was an old work, now some new settlements and new houses are being built, and we are working for them as well. By June 2025 this year, all the work will be done. Government jobs and employment are being provided to young men and women. Our ministers have gone to different places and we have seen that there is no shortage", Nitish Kumar said.
A major highlight of the Prime Minister's visit to Bihar is the foundation stone laying for Stage-II (3x800 MW) of the Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project in Aurangabad district, valued at over Rs 29,930 crore.
The project is expected to significantly boost electricity generation, industrial development, and employment in the region.PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for key road infrastructure initiatives, including the four-laning of the Patna-Arrah-Sasaram section of NH-119A, six-laning of the Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata highway (NH-319B), the Ramnagar-Kacchi Dargah stretch (NH-119D), and a new Ganga bridge between Buxar and Bharauli.
In addition, the PM will inaugurate the four-laning of the Patna-Gaya-Dobhi section of NH-22 and road upgrades at Gopalganj Town on NH-27.In the rail sector, the Prime Minister will dedicate to the nation the third rail line between Son Nagar and Mohammad Ganj, constructed at a cost of over Rs1,330 crore, aimed at enhancing rail capacity and regional connectivity.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of the new civil enclave at Bihta Airport, a Rs1,410 crore project aimed at serving the rapidly expanding educational and residential areas near Patna.

Gehlot meets gig workers at his home
Jaipur: Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot met gig workers at his residence Saturday. He discussed with them the pioneering Rajasthan Platform Based Gig Workers (Registration and Welfare) Act, 2023, which was brought under his administration. He said that after the BJP came to power in the state, the law was not implemented, leading to dissatisfaction among gig workers. "Today I met with gig workers at my residence to discuss their issues. During our Congress govt, the first Gig Workers Welfare Act in the country was established in Rajasthan, which included a law for the social security of gig workers. It covered insurance, set working hours, and prevented unjust dismissals," said Gehlot on X. "The law also provided for a Rs 200-crore Gig Workers Welfare Fund and Board. It aimed to curb the arbitrary practices of internet-based companies," he added. Gehlot said society should empathise with gig workers who work 14-18 hours a day. "They mentioned that in many residential societies, gig workers are prohibited from using the elevator, which is unfair. These workers, who come to serve the residents, face difficulties climbing stairs with their belongings. After the change in state govt, this law was not implemented," he said.

‘Misleading nation':Oppn hits out at govt over CDS's remarks
New Delhi: The Opposition on Saturday accused the Centre of 'misleading the nation' and reiterated its demand for a special Parliament session on Operation Sindoor after Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan said that India lost fighter jets on the opening day of the recent military confrontation with Pakistan due to tactical mistakes. In an interview to Bloomberg TV in Singapore, General Chauhan said: 'What is important is not the jet being down, but why they were being downed. What mistakes were made --- those are important. Numbers are not important. The good part is that we were able to understand the tactical mistake which we made, remedy it, rectify it, and then implement it again after two days and flew our jets again, targeting at long range.' Referring to the statements, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge posted on X: 'The Modi Government has misled the nation. The fog of war is now clearing.' He added: 'The Congress party demands a Comprehensive Review of our Defence Preparedness by an independent expert committee, on the lines of the Kargil Review Committee.' Citing Donald Trump's statements, Kharge said the US president has again repeated his claim about 'brokering a ceasefire'. 'This is a direct affront to the Shimla Agreement. Karnataka government seeks aid from corporates to build public schools
Bengaluru: Unhappy with the progress of Karnataka public schools, the state govt has appointed nodal officers to coordinate and expedite the construction of CSR-funded schools. Commissioner for industrial development, Gunjan Krishna was appointed as the coordinating officer; and Karnataka state industrial infrastructure development corporation, MD Khushboo G Chowdhary will be the CEO. The two officers will work with various corporates to mobilise CSR funds for schools. KPSes are kindergarten to class 12 schools, which the govt wants to project as signature schools providing quality education with robust infrastructure. The decision to appoint nodal officers was taken in view of the slow progress in setting up 2,000 KPSes in the state. The two officers will work to expedite the execution of this project, said the DCM's office in a press statement. Currently, there are 285 KPSes, and the plan is to add 2,000 more in three years. In a review meeting, deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar took a dig at the district commissioners and zilla panchayat CEOs. It has come to our notice that some corporations from the state are allocating CSR funds to private NGOs in other states and taking back 50% of that amount in cash. This is resulting in a loss for the state; it is our responsibility to use it for building the schools," he said. He said the corporates need not give the govt any funds; they can build a school and hand it over to the govt. "The govt can even provide lands and building designs. The corporates can brand the schools in their name," he said. He asked the district administration to write letters to corporates and arrange a meeting with them. "The education department will provide designs for the schools; the corporates need to get a building up and running. Set a target to build one model public school in every taluk and, based on the feedback, set a target to build one school for three grama panchayats," he told DCs and CEOs. The DCM said 13 CSR Karnataka public schools are being constructed in his constituency, and each of these schools costs between Rs 9 crore and Rs 12 crore. "The work is progressing well only in some regions, while there is negligence in other regions," he said.
