Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak claims YouTube ignored fraudulent Bitcoin promotion
Speaking to CBS News, Wozniak said scammers edited an old video of him discussing Bitcoin, adding a decorative frame and a Bitcoin wallet address, alongside a false promise to double any amount sent. The scheme came to light when his wife, Janet, received an email from a victim asking when they would be reimbursed. Some people, he said, reported losing their life savings.
'This is a crime,' Wozniak told the broadcaster, adding that those who witness wrongdoing should act to prevent further harm.
According to Wozniak, repeated appeals to YouTube to take down the fraudulent material went unanswered. He said all contact occurred between lawyers, and that even Janet's direct takedown requests were ignored. 'They wouldn't,' he remarked.
Wozniak argued the case reflects a wider problem in tackling internet scams, pointing to billions lost each year to cryptocurrency and AI-enabled fraud. He said there is 'not enough muscle' behind efforts to combat such schemes.
Reflecting on the broader implications, Wozniak said the internet's early promise of democratising information has been eroded. He criticised the shift that came with the growth of major technology platforms, which rely on tracking user behaviour and selling targeted advertising to generate revenue.
While still maintaining a connection to Apple, Wozniak suggested that his concerns over online fraud rarely gain serious attention. 'Nobody buys my voice,' he said, warning that without stronger intervention, scams exploiting public figures will continue to proliferate.
In 1976, Wozniak founded the fledgling Apple Computer company along with his more famous business partner Steve Jobs, the acclaimed investor and longtime Apple CEO who died in 2011.

Elon Musk Battles Apple Over Its ChatGPT And OpenAI Bias: What The Company Said
Musk is going after Apple for its alleged bias towards other AI companies and not putting Grok AI on its App Store charts. Elon Musk is now going after Apple for its supposed anti-competitive policies which has kept ChatGPT at the top of App Store charts but no place for his Grok AI app on the platform. Musk is clearly invested in the growth and popularity of his apps, including X (formerly Twitter), frequently sharing their app store positions proudly. But he is not pleased with how the company has overlooked Grok AI in these charts and allegedly giving preference to OpenAI apps instead. Musk has even accused Apple of refusing to put Grok app in the 'Must Have" section, even though X is part of that list in the news category. He shared all this via a post on his platform X earlier this week. The xAI founder is not happy about where the Grok AI sits on the App Store and accuses the iPhone maker of playing politics with its focus and bias towards OpenAI and ChatGPT. He further alleges that ChatGPT is there on every list where Apple has editorial control. This is a remarkable claim given what I have heard alleged that Elon does to manipulate X to benefit himself and his own companies and harm his competitors and people he doesn't like. — Sam Altman (@sama) August 12, 2025 The X founder also says that Apple makes it impossible for any AI company besides OpenAI to become the top app on the App Store. He even says that xAI will be taking immediate legal action. Apple Responds Musk's allegations have clearly reached the corners of Apple Park in California, and the company has been quoted with a statement by Bloomberg in its report. Apple clearly denies any kind of favouritism for a particular app or company and talks about the listing curated by experts with their criterias. 'We feature thousands of apps through charts, algorithmic recommendations, and curated lists selected by experts using objective criteria. Our goal is to offer safe discovery for users and valuable opportunities for developers, collaborating with many to increase app visibility in rapidly evolving categories," Apple is quoted saying. OpenAI and Apple do have a deal in place which allows ChatGPT to run on iPhones and other Apple devices. But reports say neither of the companies get monetary benefits or other exceptions from the deal. Musk has become quite regular with his fights, especially with Altman and OpenAI, and all these questions are likely to be raised if he decides to go ahead with the threat of legally fighting Apple and its practices. In 2025, the idea has evolved dramatically. It's no longer about shutting the world out; it's about drawing the world in, on India's shift is reshaping global commerce, verified not by rhetoric but by factory floors, joint ventures, and capital corporations aren't just selling to India anymore, they're making here. Supply chains are being reconfigured, bargaining power is shifting, and value creation is increasingly global trade tensions are amplifying this President Donald Trump doubled tariffs on Indian goods to 50%, citing India's discounted oil purchases from Russia. Washington views this as indirectly financing the war in Delhi, however, has stayed its course, signing fresh agreements to deepen economic cooperation with 2.0 isn't about exclusion; it's about control. The emphasis is on who commands capital, sets governance rules, and drives localisation. Foreign investment is welcome, but Indian hands remain firmly on the the SAIC Motor–JSW Group automotive joint the Chinese parent of MG Motor, reduced its stake in MG Motor India to 49%, while JSW acquired 35%. The remaining 16% is held by Indian investors, including financial institutions, employees, and dealers. Whether in luxury goods, tech, or manufacturing, Indian companies and partnerships are building scale, meeting domestic demand, and earning global recognition, while keeping profits, decision-making, and influence at of the clearest examples is Apple's expanding production footprint in India, a Make in India success story in motion. Government incentives, especially the Production-Linked Incentive scheme, have transformed the country into a hub for high-value electronics Electronics plays a pivotal role: after acquiring Wistron's iPhone plant, it became Apple's first Indian contract manufacturer and later took a 60% stake in Pegatron's iPhone facility in Tamil is also building a new iPhone plant in Hosur, significantly boosting production capacity. Taiwanese manufacturers Foxconn and Pegatron have invested heavily as late 2025, most iPhones sold in the US were made in India, a clear sign the country has become a global production hub, not just a sales appeal as a manufacturing base extends beyond electronics. Vietnamese EV maker VinFast has made India a launchpad for global new Thoothukudi facility, part of a $500 million first-phase investment in a planned $2 billion expansion, went from groundbreaking to production in just 15 months. Global firms are adjusting, and India has become a driver of strategy, investment, and production highlights three core advantages: talent, consumers, and infrastructure. Trade-flow shifts could bring $0.8–$1.2 trillion by 2030 and raise manufacturing's GDP share from 16% to 25%.About one-third of the world's STEM graduates are R&D, and sourcing could jump from $44–45 billion today to $130–170 billion by investments of $1.8 trillion by 2025 are modernising ports and logistics. The current phase is about building with India. Partnerships, factories, and investments show that global companies no longer have to choose between selling to India and producing stay relevant in one of the world's most dynamic markets, they are making in India, and seeing the country's shift from being just a large market to becoming a significant producer.
