🎥 The top 5️⃣ goals from the MLS weekend

Major League Soccer produced yet another batch of highlight-reel worthy goals after an action-packed weekend.
Let's take a look at some of the best from Matchday 24.
5. Anders Dreyer vs Chicago Fire
It's once again Anders Dreyer with his name on the scoresheet, but this is a beautiful team move from San Diego in what was their second goal against the Chicago Fire.

His second of the night, and 11th overall as well.
4. Kerwin Vargas vs NYCFC
It was an awkward touch at first, but Charlotte forward Kerwin Vargas eventually found his balance as he teed himself up for a second attempt against NYCFC.
Three points secured, and a lovely volley style at that.
3. Martín Ojeda vs Montreal
Our first low free-kick of the night arrives from a trio of men wearing purple. Martín Ojeda clearly practiced this on the training ground. And even at that, there was no guarantee the player wall would split the way it did.
Nestling the ball by the near post makes it an even better watch!
2. Evander vs Columbus Crew
The Hell is Real derby always delivers, and delivered it did! A six-goal showdown ended with the Crew beating Cincinnati, but those in blue and orange won't forget this strike from Evander regardless of the result.

Someone get a miles per hour reading on this hit!
1. Lionel Messi vs Nashville
And it had to be, didn't it? This goal from Lionel Messi isn't perhaps the most dazzling free-kick, but it is one of the smartest.
Always threatening to go up and over the wall, the Miami megastar instead opted to go low and around the wall with the ball somehow missing everyone and nestling into goalkeeper Joe Willis' net.

FIFA announces details to apply for World Cup tickets

Applications for tickets for the 2026 World Cup open Sept. 10, FIFA said Tuesday. The next edition of the tournament, which will be co-hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States, kicks off at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City on June 11. Soccer's world governing body FIFA said that due to anticipated high demand tickets would be released in phases. It did not say if it would use dynamic pricing, as was the case for the Club World Cup, which saw ticket prices fluctuate wildly. 'We're looking forward to welcoming the world back to North America, as Canada, Mexico and the United States host what will be the biggest and greatest sporting event ever,' FIFA president Gianni Infantino said in a statement. 'We encourage fans everywhere to get ready to secure their place — these will be the most coveted seats in world sport.' ___ AP soccer:

Beyoncé Gets Another Shot At Thus Far Elusive Emmy Win

Beyoncé may be the most-awarded artist in Grammy history, but thus far the Emmy has eluded the artist who's currently touring her eighth studio album, Cowboy Carter. She gets another crack at the television honor this year. Her Netflix NFL halftime show Beyoncé Bowl was nominated for outstanding variety special (live), placing it in contention with two Saturday Night Live specials: SNL50: The Anniversary Special and SNL 50: The Homecoming Concert. Beyoncé Bowl, which the artist co-directed with Alex Rudzinski, landed a total of three nominations. Also nominated in the outstanding variety special (live) category are Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show, which starred Kendrick Lamar, and The Oscars. The Oscars, which was hosted in 2024 by Jimmy Kimmel, won the award last year, besting The Apple Music Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show Starring Usher, The 66th Grammy Awards, The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady and The 76th Annual Tony Awards. Beyonce's current Emmy nomination, announced July 15, brings her total to nine. She previously was nominated for her Homecoming documentary in the outstanding variety special (pre-recorded) in 2019, and Homecoming also picked up nominations for outstanding music direction and outstanding writing for a variety special. Other nominations include her Lemonade special (2016), which lost out to The Late Late Show Carpool Karaoke Prime Time Special in the outstanding variety, music or comedy special category and was also nominated that year for outstanding directing for a variety special; her On The Run Tour special (2015) for outstanding special class program; her Super Bowl halftime show (2013), in the outstanding short-format live-action entertainment program.
