Charley Hull is proud of runner-up at Women's British Open, felt she didn't 'muck it up'

Charley Hull's ninth career runner-up finish will certainly sting more than most.
She left Royal Porthcawl with her head held high, however, saying she felt "so in control" of her game. For a second time, Hull finished runner-up in her home major, the AIG Women's British Open, electrifying crowds along the way.
The 29-year-old Englishwoman began the third round 11 shots back of the lead and pulled within one of eventual winner Miyu Yamashita on the back nine Sunday, feeling goosebumps from the roars of the UK crowd. Bogeys on the 16th and 17th, however dropped her three back, and she failed to make birdie on the closing par-5 to add any last-minute pressure to Yamashita, the petite Japanese player with the steady game.
Hull closeed with a 3-under 69 to finish knotted with Japan's Minami Katsu at 9 under, two back of Yamashita.
"I don't feel like I've actually mucked it up by mis-hitting any shots," said Hull, "Which I think everybody can probably agree, you know what I mean? Like I played so solid."
Hull came into the week with low expectations after collapsing three times during the opening round of the Amundi Evian Championship last month and was carted off the golf course on a stretcher. A virus kept her out of the gym for three weeks, and she told scribes that she'd lost 4 kilograms (9 pounds) and 8 mph of swing speed.
On top of that, she tweaked her back getting a box out of her car.
"Listen, coming into this week I didn't think I was going to make the cut," said Hull. "That's the truthful of it. I wasn't hitting it very well. I couldn't prepare as well as I wanted to because I was poorly. I was obviously collapsed three times in the round in Evian, and then still wasn't feeling well until Sunday last week.
"So I think I done pretty well, and considering my mindset coming into it, I'm pretty proud of myself."
