Tejasswi Prakash says she would go bald for a character if required. The actor also opened up about her haircare routine and recent transformation journey.
Tejasswi Prakash, renowned for her gorgeous long hair apart from her acting, claims she's ready to bid adieu to them if the role calls for it. The actress, who gained popularity with Swaragini – Jodein Rishton Ke Sur, shares that she would think about shaving her head bald for the good of a character.
In an open conversation with Hindustan Times, she mentioned that she hasn't been approached for balding yet, but she wouldn't think twice if that came to her.
'I would do it," she replied in response to whether she would go bald.
'I would go bald for a character if it requires. I'm very committed like that most of the time.". I get the sense that individuals in recent times have somehow managed to circumvent it… Like I'm doing something that's about change. But there are millions of people in the business who have proceeded and discovered so many other means of doing anything and everything, from making your colour of hair be a particular way or making you bald or making you blonde. There are just so many other workarounds that no one has requested. If I'm ever requested, I would do it."
The actor feels that technological and cosmetic fixes have altered the way the industry tackles transformation. From colouring hair to bald caps, the filmmaker now has the means to prevent unintended requests from actors to change dramatically.
But Tejasswi maintains that her commitment to the profession would drive her to take the additional step. If the character requires it, she's willing to take the bold step.
Tejasswi's Transformation And Future Roles
Tejasswi also dropped a clue regarding the next role that involved a transformation. Though she didn't reveal much, she mentioned that she needed to lose a bit of weight for the role.
The actor is no stranger to challenging herself, having starred in Naagin 6, Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 10, Bigg Boss 15, and Celebrity MasterChef.
Despite the buzz around her long hair, Tejasswi prefers to keep her haircare routine simple. She credits her mother's traditional methods, especially the age-old 'champi' or scalp massage.
'My hair routine is quite simple. Like my mother raised me, that is champi included. Of late, I have added a lot of steps to my hair routine. It is now about doing like a serious hair wash and applying a good hair mask for some 5-10 minutes and then applying good serum," she explained.
She just strutted the ramp in Delhi for a Godrej Professional hair show, where she modelled The Surreal Collection.
Combating Bad Hair Days With Panache
Like everyone else, Tejasswi too has bad hair days. But she has her strategies to deal with them.
'Yes, I do have bad hair days, primarily because I have straight hair. My bad hair days are not because my hair is frizzy. It is when my hair is truly flat with no volume. My hair somehow gets oily within one or two days of shampooing. Those for me are my bad hair days. And during that time, I just had a sleek hairstyle like a ponytail," she said.
Whether it's balding for a role or covering a bad hair day with an elegant ponytail, Tejasswi Prakash shows she's a trailblazer for whatever life and the camera throw her way.

Mouni Roy Denies Calling Paparazzi Every Time: ‘It's Really Taxing Because…'

Last Updated: Mouni Roy clarifies she doesn't always call paparazzi, saying they often recognize celebrity cars. She admits calling them only for promotions or when dressed up. It is a notion that every time a celebrity gets clicked, that star has called the paparazzi for spotting, but Mouni Roy has burst this bubble and, in a recent chat, shared that it is not true. Rather, the paps know almost all the car numbers of all the celebrities, and that is how they manage to know who is going where. In conversation with Hindustan Times, the actor shared, 'They are there, especially because if we are here in Bandra, they know your cars and where you're going. Sometimes, the restaurants or places you go to want to promote themselves. I am not saying I never call paps. But I call them when I need to be or want to be spotted, and I am dressed well. If I am promoting a film or a show, it's a very different thing. But every day, no!" 'It's really taxing, because you can't look nice all the time, and can't be at your best every time," she further added. Mouni Roy on the work front Mouni Roy began her career on television with shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and rose to fame with Naagin. She later moved to films, making her Bollywood debut in Gold and going on to appear in projects like Made in China, Brahmāstra, and Romeo Akbar Walter. Over the years, she has taken on a mix of TV, film, and OTT roles, proving her versatility as an actor. Mouni Roy on being typecast In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Mouni said, 'I have been typecast since the beginning of my career. When I did Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, people said the girl next door can't play a glam part. When I did a few reality shows, dance reality shows, they said I was too glamorous. When I did Sati, they said I was too Indian. When I did Naagin, it was 'she can only do fantasy fiction or mythological shows.' That's something I've always dealt with." 'As long as – whether it's glam, outlandish, girl next door, or dancing – if you can see that I'm putting in my hard work and 100%, and it resonates with the audience and they receive it well, you receive it well – that's my takeaway from it," she concluded. Mouni Roy on the personal front On the personal front, Mouni Roy is married to Suraj Nambiar, a Dubai-based businessman. The couple tied the knot in January 2022 in a traditional ceremony that combined South Indian and Bengali customs. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Shoojit Sircar defends National Award jury amid row over The Kerala Story, Shah Rukh: 'Jury should have the final word'

Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar is donning a new hat these days, that of a judge. For the second year in a row, the acclaimed director is on the jury of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM), selecting the Best Short Films at the festival. Ahead of the 2025 IFFM, Shoojit speaks to Hindustan Times about the experience and the difficulty of judging art. Shoojit Sircar is serving as a jury member at the IFFM 2025. On the difficulty of judging cinema Shoojit says he does not like judging cinema, but made an exception for the IFFM. "IFFM is very dear to me. The organisers are dear friends and this particular festival is almost like a family affair. This is my fifth or sixth visit there. I normally don't participate in juries and being a judge. But for this, I made an exception," he tells us. But the filmmaker agrees that judging something as subjective as cinema is 'very difficult'. He explains how he goes about it. "Before we start, we tell everyone that there are certain elements that they should take into consideration. There are technicalities where you can really possibly judge the craft. Then, you should celebrate the film that really makes a difference. And then, the voice and vision of the director are very important. You look at films that bring a lot of social change and have a long-lasting impact. Of course, there are technicalities to look into it, in terms of cinematography, editing, direction, actors, everything." On the National Award row Recently, when the National Film Awards were announced, many across the country expressed surprise at Shah Rukh Khan winning Best Actor and The Kerala Story being adjudged the Best Film. Shoojit re-emphasises the subjective nature of art when asked about the row. "I feel that there is no point debating this from the outside," he says, adding, "You leave it to the jury. We might agree to disagree on many things, but finally, what matters is, who is the jury there. Because that jury is going to be your final word, and you leave it to their sensibility. You can't question what award they have given. I think we would rather question that before they start. Who is the jury? What are their sensibilities?" Taking a leaf out of his own book, the filmmaker concludes with an anecdote: "When Sardar Udham's panorama selection (for the 2021 International Film Festival of India) didn't happen, I was asked the same things. I will say what I said then: 'Whatever the jury has decided, I have to accept it'." The 2025 edition of the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne begins August 14 and continues till August 24.

Sanya Malhotra on National Award wins for 'Jawan', 'Kathal', and 'Sam Bahadur'; credits instincts for success

Winning a National Award is a milestone most actors dream of. For Sanya Malhotra , that dream turned into a reality this year as not one, but three of her films, 'Jawan', 'Kathal', and 'Sam Bahadur', clinched top honours at the 71st National Film Awards. This recognition has left her grateful, emotional, and more convinced than ever about following her artistic instincts. A rare triple win Talking to Hindustan Times, Sanya admits she had to pause and let the news sink in when she found out about the triple win. While 'Kathal' won Best Hindi Feature Film, 'Jawan' saw Shah Rukh Khan take home Best Actor, while 'Sam Bahadur' bagged awards for Best Feature Film Promoting National, Social, and Environmental Values, along with Best Makeup and Best Costume Design. 'It's rare, and I don't take it for granted. This reaffirmed my belief in trusting my gut as an actor,' she says. Feels Surreal Playing the leading lady for 'Kathal' was particularly special for Sanya. She describes the film's recognition as 'surreal,' given its unusual and quirky premise. 'To be the face of a film like this, and to see it reach this kind of recognition, is overwhelming. I'm so proud of the team and grateful to have been part of the journey,' she shares. The project, which began as a modestly ambitious story, has now carved a spot in Indian cinema history. 'Awards can't define your worth' While she treasures the honour, Sanya is clear-eyed about the role awards play. 'Awards can't define your worth as an artist, but they definitely feel good when they come from genuine appreciation," she said while adding that the National Awards are different as "it feels like the country is acknowledging your work". She concluded saying, "It's emotional. It's humbling." Sanya Malhotra's Fashion Frenzy
