Adidas Campus 00s, Samba among most faked at resale: report
Adidas' Campus 00s and Samba silhouettes were the top most faked sneakers received by resale platform StockX within the last year, according to its annual verification report.
The platform rejected more than 370,000 products — valued at almost $74 million — that didn't meet its verification standards in 2024. Of these, about 250,000 were sneakers, with more than 30,000 pairs flagged as suspected counterfeits.
StockX said the findings highlight growing consumer interest in affordable, general release sneakers — and how widespread counterfeiting has become. In previous years, the company said the most counterfeited products were exclusive and rare releases including the Jordan 1 Retro High Off-White Chicago and the Jordan 1 Retro High OG SP Fragment x Travis Scott.
StockX has made its verification process a key point in its marketing.
In 2024, the company began using a machine learning model to assign a counterfeit risk score to its verification center, per the release. That process allowed StockX to detect high risk products based on a seller's behavior, including if the seller has had a product marked as fake before. The resale platform also implemented CT scanning technology to take X-ray images of products and developed relationships with federal and local agencies to combat counterfeit and fraud, per the report.
However, StockX is still involved in legal proceedings with Nike over the alleged sale of counterfeited goods. The yearslong fight is set to head to trial this year.
StockX CEO Greg Schwartz, who stepped into the role in January, said the verification report underscores the company's commitment to setting a higher standard for accountability in resale.
'But as excited as we are to share the wins, we also recognize the work ahead,' Schwartz said in the release. 'This report isn't just a reflection of where we've been — it's a roadmap for how we'll continue to lead with trust at the center of everything we do.'
In addition to rejecting suspected fakes, the platform also rejects items that include defects or damaged boxes, or items from sellers who have sent the wrong product or size, per the report.
The verification report found that in addition to the Adidas silhouettes, other top faked sneakers include the New Balance 2002R and the Maison Mihara Yasuhiro Hank.
Additional shoe styles that were rejected from the platform included Ugg classic styles such as mini boots and slippers, and the Lightning McQueen Crocs Classic Clog, which is StockX's top selling Crocs product. Yeezy was the most faked brand name in the slides category. In accessories, Supreme holds multiple top spots of suspected counterfeits, but the top faked product was Prada Symbole sunglasses.
In addition to shoes and accessories, StockX also sells apparel and collectibles. The platform's top selling apparel brand, Fear of God, was highly susceptible to fakes, per the release. The top two most faked collectible items were Pop Mart's Labubu plush toys and bag charms, which have also had their own fashion moment.

Liverpool get big Alexander Isak deal boost
There has been a DRAMATIC update in Liverpool's chase for Alexander Isak. Isak, 25, claims promises have been broken by the Geordies and his current stance is that he will not play for the club again. 🔴 Shop the LFC 2025/26 adidas away range Liverpool tested Newcastle's resolve a few weeks back - offering a British record fee for the Swede - but the North East side were in no mood for negotiations. Newcastle make hefty Isak demands Despite Isak effectively being on strike it looks like the Magpies currently have no plans to sell him. Unless their demands are met - and more significantly unless they get two players into their strike line - then Liverpool could well be frustrated. Isak signed for Newcastle from Real Sociedad back in 2022 for a fee of £63m - agreeing a six-year contract - but relations with the club are at an all-time low. However, he will not be leaving for anyone else other than Liverpool. That's according to a new report in Caught Offside - which also reveals that Newcastle would deal at £147m. Isak is pushing hard for Liverpool 'Figures close to the situation described Isak as 'pushing hard' to get his dream transfer to LFC, who remain in 'pole position' to capitalise on this dire situation with Newcastle,' the report reads. 'So far, the Premier League champions have had a £110m bid rejected by NUFC, who are adamant that their asking price of around £147m must be met.' There have been links with Al-Hilal - and more outlandishly with Real Madrid - but it appears Isak has got eyes only for the Premier League champions. © IMAGO - Alexander Isak Liverpool

Adidas visits Indigenous Mexican town to apologize for sandal design
VILLA HIDALGO YALALAG, Mexico (Reuters) -Adidas executives visited a small Indigenous town in the mountains of southern Mexico on Thursday to offer an apology over a sandal-inspired shoe design that Mexico's government had blasted as cultural appropriation. The German sportswear company sent representatives from its Mexican unit to Villa Hidalgo Yalalag, a town in Oaxaca state, to deliver the comments in person after issuing a written apology last week. The issue related to the "Oaxaca Slip On," designed by Mexican-American designer Willy Chavarria, which locals say closely resembles their traditional handmade huarache sandals. "We understand this situation may have caused discomfort, and for that reason, we offer a public apology," Karen Gonzalez, head of Legal and Compliance at Adidas Mexico, told a few dozen people gathered at an outdoor sports field. The event included traditional music and attendees in Indigenous attire. Gonzalez said Adidas would in future seek collaboration with Villa Hidalgo Yalalag to ensure respect for its cultural heritage. The community is home to fewer than 2,000 people. "Thank you very much for keeping your word," said Mayor Eric Fabian. "(Our cultural heritage) is something we safeguard very carefully. Yalalag lives from its crafts," he added. The controversy drew national attention earlier this month when Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum criticized Adidas and announced plans to explore legal avenues to protect Indigenous communities from alleged cultural appropriation by big companies. Mexico has previously accused other big-name global fashion players of exploiting Indigenous designs without consent. In the US Open's qualifying tournament, the smaller sportswear brands can shine
NEW YORK (AP) — Tennis apparel sponsorship is a big business. It is also one that, among the top players, is dominated by a small group of industry titans. Brands like Nike, Adidas and Asics provide the outfits for most of the top 100, with their recognizable logos splashed across the shirts and skirts of Grand Slam favorites. But if one looks beyond that upper echelon and into the U.S. Open's qualifying tournament – where lower-ranked players compete for spots in the main draw – there's a world of local startups and small clothing businesses making their way into the booming tennis business. For many players in the qualifying tournament, their apparel sponsors are companies local to their home country. These companies often specifically seek out their countrymen. 'It's key to sponsor and help our Swiss players,' said Laura Tolub, the chief operating officer of Fourteen Company. Fourteen is a small sportswear brand based in Geneva, Switzerland, that sponsors a couple of Swiss players in the qualifying draw. 'It doesn't mean we're only sponsoring Swiss players, but it's important to us to … be there for them.' That country connection is often important on the player's side, too. Swiss player Marc-Andrea Hüsler, ranked 228th, won his second round qualifying match Thursday afternoon in Fourteen apparel. 'It's a Swiss brand, so I wanted to do something with the Swiss if possible,' he said about his decision to join the brand two years ago. 'They were new and they were building up.' They've built into a tight-knit community, according to Tolub. '(Some players) want to have the feeling they are part of a family, which Fourteen is,' she said. 'It's more of a family than a big brand.' Arianne Hartono went a similar route. She is sponsored by The Indian Maharadja, a Dutch company known for its hockey clothing and based out of Nieuwkuijk, a small town of about 5,000 people. 'They were a very small startup, like three, four years ago,' Hartono said. 'They approached me through social media, they just came at me and said, 'Hey, we're a small company, we want to start coming into tennis.'' She agreed, and their spiral logo was on full display as the Dutch player, ranked 158th, made her way into the third round of the qualifying tournament with a tight victory Thursday afternoon. Other qualifiers look for the right fit beyond country lines. Argentine Marco Trungelliti, ranked No. 183rd, found one with personal ties. His match clothes are made by a small upstart in Mexico called Lega, an apparel brand that's run by 'a friend of a friend,' who the Argentine said he has become quite close with through their time working together. His shirts have been getting attention from keen-eyed fans – at the French Open, his top had a large Eiffel Tower design, and now in the U.S. Open's qualifying rounds, it's a Statue of Liberty. 'It's a complete new run,' he said of the New York City shirt, which was designed and manufactured by Lega specifically for his U.S. Open matches. 'I'm not a designer at all, but I had some opinions in there,' he said after winning his second round qualifying match. 'But this one was completely on (the Lega designer), and I loved it.' ___ More AP tennis:
