Wait, are the Love Islander's allowed to vape? Explaining why Dejon looked like he had one in the villa
Season 12 of Love Island is underway and this year's Love Island contestants are getting comfortable in the revamped villa.
On Tuesday night's episode (10th June), it looked like Dejon Noel-Williams had a vape in his hand, as he chatted to the boys ahead of Shakira Khan's decision.
The personal trainer, 26, could be seen lifting a neon green object to his lips, as the boys anticipated the drama ahead.
And fans mistook the item for a vape, with one taking to X (formerly Twitter) to ask: "Did anyone just see Dejon with the vape in [his] hand?"
"Did I just see Dejon put a vape to his mouth??? Are smoking chats coming back?" another asked.
It turns out that Dejon was actually applying some lip balm, and wasn't vaping.
But the incident made us wonder what the rules around vaping and smoking in the villa are. And, whether it's even allowed.
Here's everything you need to know.
Yes, the Islanders are allowed to vape, as well as smoke during their time on Love Island. However, viewers will not see this on camera.
Cosmopolitan UK understands that ITV no longer shows scenes of contestants vaping or smoking on screen, and instead, Islanders have to go off to do this in an area off-camera, which is monitored.
During the early seasons of Love Island, Islanders would often be seen smoking on screen.
Following season three, Amber Davies' mum, Sue, spoke out about seeing her daughter smoke on-screen, admitting it was "harder" to watch than her sex scenes with Kem Cetinay.
"She's not been brought up in a smoking environment. In some ways that was the only time I felt, 'Please don't do that, I don't want you to," she told The Telegraph back in 2018.
"But she's 21, she can make her own decisions."
ITV later banned on-screen smoking, due to viewer complaints and concerns about glamorising cigarettes.
A designated area is now available for contestants who wish to smoke or vape, however, there is a strict policy, and only one Islander is allowed in this area at a time.
Love Island airs on ITV2 at 9pm on weekdays and Sundays.

Doom: The Dark Ages PS5 Trophy Glitch Made Worse by Update
Annoying PS5 ' glitch was supposed to be fixed with update 1 that rolled out last week, but it has actually made the problem worse. Not only does the trophy remain glitched for some players, there are reports that those who haven't fulfilled the requirements for it are randomly unlocking the trophy after booting up Doom: The Dark Ages following the patch. It's unclear what triggers the Berserker trophy glitch. As previously explained, the trophy requires players to acquire all Shield Base, Shield Rune, and Melee Weapon upgrades. However, some players aren't able to unlock the trophy despite trying numerous suggested workarounds. It was initially assumed that the trophy becomes glitched if players purchase the upgrades naturally while playing the game, but works if all the upgrades are purchased in one go. However, that isn't the case for everyone. Our guess is that there is a very specific trigger for the glitch that no one has figured out yet. Fast forward to last week, when Bethesda claimed that Doom: The Dark Ages update 1 fixes the Berserker trophy retroactively. While the update worked for a number of players, many of those who experienced the glitch took to Twitter, Reddit, and PSNProfiles to complain that they're still stuck with the glitch. Over on PSNProfiles, several commenters said that they are on their first playthrough of the game and have not fulfilled Berserker's requirements, but saw the trophy pop when booting up Doom: The Dark Ages after applying update 1. There's no comment from Bethesda at the time of this writing, but we'll try to get a response. Revealed: The Love Island cast who should actually couple up, based on their astrology
We've got a text! And omg is it juicy. Tonight's [12 June] episode of Love Island will see the Islanders face their first recoupling of the season, in which the girls will pick who they want to couple up with, leaving two boys single. It comes at a very good time as no one is really in a committed relationship and two new boys entered the Villa last night - Shea and Remell. However, while the cast may think they know what's best for them, who they are destined to be with could actually all be written in the stars. Yep, ahead of tonight's recoupling we spoke with astrologer Inbaal Honigman, on behalf of OLBG, who revealed which Love Island contestants should actually couple up based on their tarot cards. And let's just say the results were interesting... Yep, you read that correctly, while Tommy, 22, may be all loved up with Megan after just a few days, according to Inbaal, American Toni, 24, is actually the better match for him. She pulled The 10 of Cups card for Tommy and a 3 of Cups for Toni, because of this she predicts they would be a good match. She describes Toni as "unapologetic and fully herself, and her taste in love is for someone faithful whose feelings are true," and the card for Tommy translates to meaning he is: "Loving and friendly, this card tells us of an uncomplicated guy who comes from a warm household and wants the same for himself. His ambition is to find love, and it could be absolutely anybody." So why are they a good match? "Those two really want to have an old fashioned love story, with flowers and violins and no drama," she explains. Ok, we're not sure how Megan is going to feel about this. But maybe she doesn't need to worry as according to Inbaal, Megan, 24, is much better suited to Dejon, 26, who is currently coupled up with Meg. Inbaal pulled the card of The 10 of Swords for Dejon, which means it's a "card of overthinking, and shows a person who takes everything to heart. All he wants is to be with someone who understands him, he's personality driven and has a kind heart. He can turn even the slightest situation into a whole drama, and will have his heart broken." As for Megan, well her card the Page of Cups reveals Megan is, "Caring and sensitive. She'll be truthful and will believe everyone, even the least reliable contestants. She believes in true love and will look for someone to reflect that back to her. Tears will come when she finds out that not everyone is as honest as she is." So why are they better suited to each other than their others? Inbaal suggests as they're both "sensitive souls" they would fit well together. She adds that they would, "Both look after each other and be open to listening and talking about their emotions. They'll go out of their ways to ensure that their partner is happy and feeling heard." Meg, 25, shouldn't be too disappointed that Dejon is destined for someone else, as Inbaal suggests her more suited match is in fact new Islander Remell, 24. Inbaal drew the 6 of Cups card for Meg which shows she's "Quick to fall in love and quick to move on". Ooh ouch. She also noted this means Meg, "has no idea what she wants to find, and that will make her search for love search difficult." As for Remell she pulled the Rebirth card, which says he is "a guy who has a guard up. He likes people, but finds relationships complicated. He favours 'nice girl' vibes, but can only date someone who's as complex as he is." Their shared love of drama is what Inbaal argues will bring them together: "They both give as good as they get, and they'll enjoy high-octane drama together. Their relationship may appear challenging to the outsider, but they both love the twists and turns of a passionate romance." The only couple that are actually together on the show right now that Inbaal predicts should be together are Harry and Shakira. Shakira has the King of Pentacles card which means she is "loyal to her own image and business goals, there are no friends, only acquaintances," Inbaal argues. As for Harry he has The Chariot card which means, "He'd love to win a trophy, a girl who's gorgeous, well connected and wealthy. Emotions aren't central to him." Ugh, so why are they a good match? Well for Inbaal they connect on wanting to be a "power couple" and in the future they'd "want to have a life of luxury, and their goals are the same." Given how the teaser for tonight's episode shows a rift between the pair, it seems this could be power couple may be slipping away. Want even more Love Island gossip? People Are Absolutely Dragging JD Vance For His "Cringe" Tweet About "Les Mis"
Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, joined President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump for a performance of Les Misérables at the Kennedy Center on Wednesday evening. Many found it ironic, given that the musical is about an uprising against abusive authority figures. But just before the show, Vance wanted to make it very clear he had no idea what it was about. The vice president posted: @JDVance / Via In a follow-up tweet, the vice president added: 'That's apparently a different thing called Sweeney Todd.' @JDVance / Via Twitter: @JDVance Given that Les Misérables is one of the most enduring and widely performed modern musicals ― and that it's based on what's considered one of the most important novels of the 19th century ― not many people are buying Vance's ignorance.
