The 2025 edition of the BBC Radio 2 In The Park festival is to be held in Chelmsford. The event, which last year saw performances from the likes of Sting, Pet Shop Boys and Snow Patrol in Preston's Moor Park, will take place in the Essex city's Hylands Park from Friday, September 5, to Sunday, September 7.
Announcing the location on Radio 2, presenter Rylan Clark said: 'I can't wait to welcome my Radio 2 family to Chelmsford and have this year's Radio 2 In The Park right on my doorstep.

'If there's one thing I know for certain, it's that an Essex crowd know how to party. See you all in Hylands Park.'

The festival was then welcomed to Essex by Chelmsford town crier Tony Appleton, with the festival line-up set to be announced live on air on the Scott Mills Breakfast Show on Tuesday, with tickets to go on sale on Wednesday.
Helen Thomas, head of Radio 2, said: 'Radio 2 In The Park is our biggest party of the year, and we're delighted to be bringing a three-day music extravaganza to Chelmsford.
'We've been busy booking some of the world 's most loved artists to perform to thousands of revellers in Hylands Park, as well as to millions of listeners and viewers at home or on the move. We can't wait to bring our family of Radio 2 presenters to Essex.'

The event will see a number of Radio 2 presenters relocate to the city for the weekend, and there will be a Friday night DJ party to start the festival after it debuted at last year's event.
Councillor Stephen Robinson, leader of Chelmsford City Council, said: 'Hylands Park is no stranger to music festivals, and we're thrilled to add another renowned music event to the list in 2025.
' BBC Radio 2 In The Park is a fantastic opportunity for Chelmsford – one that will lift our local economy and boost the city's position as a top events destination.
'We're looking forward to welcoming world-famous music acts and thousands of Radio 2 fans from across the UK to our brilliant city this summer for this unrivalled three-day celebration of music.
'Our teams have years of experience and expertise in facilitating major music festivals at Hylands Park, so I'm confident that this latest partnership with the BBC will present a smooth-running and highly enjoyable weekend for all involved.'

Controversial Married At First Sight UK star is set to GO NAKED on raunchy TV dating show in shock career move

A controversial Married At First Sight star is set to go fully naked on a very raunchy dating TV show. Luke Worley, who was axed from the Channel 4 show after an altercation with a co-star, will bare it all on-screen as he signed up for Paramount+ show Dating Naked UK. The Tezlo founder, 32, shocked fans after making the announcement on his Instagram page, with the eagerly-anticipated steamy series to kick off on 29 August. In his latest post, Luke posed completely naked as he held a blue sphere in front of his privates, with the ironic caption: 'I probably just needed a hug….but i stripped off instead 'Dating Naked streams exclusively on @paramountplusuk from Friday 29th August, with two episodes dropping every week.' The spicy dating programme will be hosted by Rylan Clark, presenting a new challenge for Luke, who will join the naked-only villa. Singletons will get to know each other while the show won't be censoring or pixellating any of the scenes. The Essex-born entrepreneur previously shot to stardom on Married At First Sight in 2023 but was eventually kicked out due to a bust-up with co-star Jordan Gayle. 'Luke has always found it difficult to make meaningful connections. Despite his attempts and outgoing personality, he has always struggled to find love,' a show spokesperson said, Daily Star reports. The publication also claimed Luke aims for his new stint to be a fresh start after receiving significant death treats following the MAFS controversy. In a bid to vocalise for body positivity, the spokesperson added: 'Luke feels like he's already bared all when it comes to being vulnerable on TV having previously appeared on Married At First Sight, but feels strongly about representing the 'normal' men out there who don't fit the stereotypical mould of the perfect body.' Presenter Rylan, 36, defended his new show after critics branded it 'disgraceful' when it was first released on Paramount+ last year. The English host said at the time that the show is doing what it is meant to do and that's showing 'dating, but laid bare.' He said it's like 'Love Island without the bikinis' and jibed that the 'duty of care is like no other show.' The last series featured 10 singles seeking romance while naked in a tropical setting. Contestants face challenges as new arrivals join, disrupting existing relationships. Rylan said: 'It is Love Island without the bikinis, that's pretty much what it is, you see everything, there's no strategic placement of the cameras.'

Rylan Clark's 'mugging' by surprise assailant leads to awkward call to police

Rylan Clark has detailed the hilarious moment he was "mugged" by an unusual thief while walking back to a friend's house in Romford, forcing him to make an awkward phone call to the police Rylan Clark has shared a hilarious anecdote about the time he was "mugged by a fox", which led to an awkward phone call with the police. The amusing tale unfolded during his Radio 2 show, Rylan On Saturday, after a colleague recounted her own encounter with a squirrel. ‌ The former X Factor contestant and Eurovision star revealed that he had been "mugged by a fox" while walking back from Romford to a friend's house. In a conversation on air, he described how he had spotted the fox on a wall while he was holding his wallet in his hand. ‌ He recalled: "And, as I thought I've seen this fox. You know, normally, you just like stamp your foot on the floor and the fox will run away? Getcha! So, I stamped me foot, and this fox really like nonchalantly crawled down the wall looking at me, walked towards me. ‌ "And I'd obviously had a couple of drinks - I'm thinking, 'Oh, this ain't happening'. Well, it pounced. I've jumped, dropped me wallet, it's got it in its mouth and gone up the road, took my wallet!" After the bizarre incident, Rylan then had to report the theft to his card company. However, they required a crime reference number since he had reported his card as stolen. ‌ Yet, in a comical twist, he then had to call the police to report his unusual mugging. When asked why he needed a crime reference number, he explained that he had been "mugged", leading to further questions about the identity of the perpetrator. He responded: "I was like, 'Oh, a fox', and I could just hear them all laughing. They were like, 'Could you describe them?' I was like, 'Bushy, ginger'. Yeah, I still got the crime reference number." Meanwhile, the beloved broadcaster recently branded his mum, Linda, a "walking disaster" during a live show after she revealed how she'd hurt her arms whilst at home. ‌ During a telephone chat live on his programme, Linda explained to the audience that she'd been "looking in the ottoman" when the "lid came down", with Rylan noting that she'd cut her arm in the process. "Oh it did hurt", Linda replied, before saying: "If it ain't one thing it's another, isn't it?" In response, Rylan said: "That's why you're like a walking disaster at the moment," to which Linda agreed. However, just weeks earlier, Rylan had disclosed that Linda wouldn't feature on his programme as she'd been rushed to hospital. He informed his followers on Instagram that "Mummy Linda isn't well sadly". He subsequently praised the emergency staff at Princess Alexandra Hospital whilst reassuring supporters that he would provide updates and that his mum is "on the mend" and a "trooper".
