Minister inspects arrangements for CM visit
Anantapur: Ahead of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's visit, Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav, along with district Collector Dr Vinod Kumar V inspected the ongoing preparations at Chayapuram village in Vajrakarur mandal of Uravakonda constituency on Wednesday. They inspected construction of helipad, widening of the HNSS canal, and other arrangements related to the scheduled Gram Sabha.
Joint Collector Shiv Narayan Sharma, officials from the CMO, and heads of various district departments were also present during the review.

Andhra Pradesh: CM vows to support tobacco and horticulture farmers
VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday held a review meeting at his Undavalli camp office to address procurement and pricing concerns for cocoa, mango, and tobacco crops, reaffirming his government's commitment to supporting farmers. Naidu stressed a farmer-centric approach, directing officials to conduct field visits, anticipate challenges, and ensure global standards in agricultural production. He announced a dedicated cocoa policy to promote high-quality output and enhance farmer awareness. Support for Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) and MSMEs to strengthen agro-processing was also emphasised. Regarding tobacco, Naidu said the Tobacco Board will regulate Flue-Cured Virginia (FCV) acreage, while White Burley tobacco will be cultivated under contract, with procurement handled by companies. To address issues in HD Burley cultivation, he urged officials to promote crop diversification toward pulses and millets. Seven market yards in Parchuru, Inkollu, Marturu, Pedanandipadu, Prattipadu, Chilakaluripeta, and Maddipadu are ready for procurement, targeting 25 million kg to be procured by ITC and GPI. The mango sector is grappling with 43,000 metric tonnes of unsold pulp, as companies like Parle Agro, Coca-Cola, and PepsiCo have reduced demand. Naidu appealed to traders to purchase mangoes at `12 per kg, with the government providing `4 compensation if they pay only `8. He mandated registration of farmers, traders, and processors for better coordination. For cocoa, 465 metric tonnes have been procured, with 745 tonnes still available. To ensure a minimum support price of `500 per kg, the government will offer a `50 subsidy above the `450 offered by companies. He directed the expansion of Rythu Bazaars from 116 to 200, the use of mobile markets, and the development of a farmer database linked to PM Kisan.

5 crore plant target set for next World Environment Day
VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has set a target of planting five crore saplings in the State by the next World Environment Day (WED). Naidu, along with Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan, attended Vana Mahotsav-2025 organised at Anantavaram village in the capital region to mark World Environment Day. Speaking on the occasion, Naidu said one crore saplings are being planted across the State to mark Environment Day. 'Environmental protection is everyone's responsibility. Every citizen should contribute to Swachh Andhra Mission. Is it fair to expect clean air without planting trees? Andhra Pradesh will set an example for the nation in environmental protection,' he asserted. After planing saplings in ADC Park, Naidu and Pawan Kalyan went round the stalls set up by the Pollution Control Board. 'It is a matter of great pride to launch the initiative of planting one crore saplings on a single day,' they said. CM takes a dig at previous govt over axing tress By the next World Environment Day, we aim to plant 5.58 crore saplings. Currently, Andhra Pradesh has 37,421 sq km of forest area, which is 23% of the total area. Including greenery outside forests, the State's green cover stands at 30.05%. Our goal is to increase this to 37% by 2029 and 50% by 2047. We should become a national role model in greenery. The previous government planted trees only for photo-ops,' Naidu said. Expressing his serious concern over the alarming level of global warming, Naidu said pollution is a serious threat which results in less rainfall, depletion of groundwater, and water contamination. 'During the previous regime, when the Chief Minister travelled by helicopter, trees along the roads were cut down for visibility. But, we are ensuring that trees are protected during our visits. Planting trees is our duty, cutting them down is a crime. In some countries, cutting trees without government permission is a crime, and can land them in jail,' Naidu reminded. Pawan lauded the efforts and commitment of Komera Ankarao, who has been striving to prevent deforestation in Nallamala, and promised that the Forest Department will plant another one crore saplings by next year.

‘Chandranna Palle Panduga' from today
Nellore: As the coalition government, headed by CM N Chandrababu Naidu successfully completed one year in power, Nellore rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy planned to organise a four-day innovative programme, 'Chandranna Palle Panduga' from June 6 to 9 in rural mandal of his constituency. Addressing a press conference at party office here on Thursday, the MLA informed that various developmental works will be conducted during the four-day event. Describing the regime of coalition government as 'golden era', he said that development of the State and construction of 'Amaravathi' are possible only with CM N Chandrababu Naidu. MLA Sridhar Reddy appealed the people to bless Naidu of initiating more developmental projects in coming days.
