For the second time, Chhaya Kadam is at the Cannes Film Festival. Even though she won't be walking the red carpet of Cannes 2025, the actress is there to represent her Marathi-language film at the marketplace of the global fest. This is when she indulged in a heart-to-heart with Sucharita Tyagi and shared the memorable moment of Cannes 2024 that continues to hold a space in her heart.
Chhaya stated that whenever she thinks of her debut at Cannes last year, she always remembers director Payal Kapadia 's sweet gesture for her actors. The Laapataa Ladies actress expressed that when the best film announcement was made for All We Imagine as Light, Payal could have simply stepped up on stage and taken the accolade, which she truly deserves.
But instead of showing up alone, the filmmaker offered her actors a hand and took all three of them on the stage to receive the Grand Prix award at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. 'Aaj bhi vo photo aur video dekhti huna, toh aesa lagta hai, duniya bhar ki aurton aur apni line me jo hain na, jo kuch karna chahti hai, unn sabki himmat badhai. (Even today, when I see those images and clips, I feel like we gave confidence to all the women of the world and to those in the industry, who want to make it big)' an emotional Chhaya Kadam divulged.
She went on to state that the frame, with four women in sarees, shows unity among them who represented India at the global platform. 'Vo din mai kabhi nhi bhool sakti (I can never forget that day)' she exclaimed. Looking back at her film legacy, the Madgaon Express actress stated that she has worked in the Indian film industry for so many years. But that moment highlighted her in front of the whole world in a very different and positive way. 'So, Payal, I love you,' she said, concluding her statement.

So it was difficult to understand how to choose. There was no godfather, and now I feel a godfather is very important to guide you. I made a lot of wrong film choices at that time. My grandfather used to say that no work is small or big, work is work. I think I took that too seriously, and I kept doing whatever work came my way. I did a lot of stupid films which never released." Talking about her transition to television, she said, 'Some of the releases had a very bad impact on my career. I had signed a lot of big films, but after my poster in the Trade Guide, people used to judge that it's a B-grade movie she is doing, and they didn't cast me. Then I got to know that the damage is done. I said, 'Can we just forget about it?' They said, 'No, it will impact our film. ' Then I started doing television shows. I was doing wrong films, people were not trusting me and categorising me that I cannot be an A-lister. So then I got frustrated. It was new then—Doordarshan, Zee TV—and roles were coming to me easily. Even after doing films, I was one of the few who took TV, and it helped me establish myself again." Deepshikha became well-known on TV for playing negative roles in shows like Son Pari, Ramayan, Karishma – The Miracles of Destiny, Baalveer, Madhubala – Ek Ishq Ek Junoon, Santoshi Maa, and more. Housefull 5 box office Day 2: Akshay's film off to a flyer, crosses Rs 50 crore
'Housefull 5' is off to a flying start at the Indian box office. Featuring a powerhouse cast including Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, and Sanjay Dutt, the comedy entertainer has already outperformed its previous instalments, according to early estimates. Released on June 6, the film opened with a strong Rs 24 crore. However, it's the Day 2 numbers that truly turned to industry tracker 'Housefull 5' earned approximately Rs 30 crore nett on Day 2, marking a significant 25 percent jump from its opening day collections. With this, the film's total earnings have surged past Rs 50 crore, currently standing at an estimated Rs 54 crore. In comparison, its predecessor, 'Housefull 4' crossed the Rs 50-crore milestone only on its third Day 2, the film recorded an overall Hindi occupancy rate of 37.97 percent, with the highest footfall observed during the night shows. 'Housefull 5' also outperformed Akshay Kumar's January release 'Sky Force' (Rs 11.50 crore nett) and last year's Bollywood blockbuster 'Fighter' (Rs 22.50 crore nett) in terms of opening day by Sajid Nadiadwala's banner, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, the film boasts an ensemble cast featuring Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Fardeen Khan, Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Today Digital's review of 'Housefull 5' notes, 'The good thing about 'Housefull 5' is that it looks like a nice commercial entertaining package. But, it's not for everyone's taste. The cringe comedy, where creepy men are lusting over women's bodies and making jokes out of beating birds and monkeys, does not make for very heartening humour.
