OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — With the future of a new Royals stadium in Missouri still uncertain, Kansas may be stepping up to the plate.
FOX4 has learned the Royals are now eyeing the former Sprint campus—now known as Aspiria—as a possible site for a new stadium. The by a business affiliate connected to the team.

But while some fans are excited by the idea, not everyone is ready to crown this location as a home run.
Jesse Rodriguez, who works at Guitar Center, is chief among the skeptics, but for good reason.
'Taking away land from businesses and the lack of notice,' he said.
Rodriguez also works in the Crossroads District and says he saw firsthand how the Royals' previous .
'We're kind of in the middle of Johnson County, so that can be hard to manage traffic flow, movement, people getting there, hotels that they'll need. I think we need to incentivize stadiums in our cities or our states, but I don't think we need to be walked over,' he said.

Former Overland Park councilman and current mayoral candidate Dr. Faris Farassati says many residents he's heard from are not on board.
'The area's design was never intended to accommodate such development,' Farassati said. 'It's noteworthy that while the city is gathering feedback on a new logo, there appears to be no attempt to gauge public interest in placing a stadium in this corridor.'
Another current council member echoed that concern, telling FOX4 the city would need major infrastructure improvements in and around the area—including traffic systems and housing support—before anything could move forward.
Cherrie Duensing, owner of Best Regards Bakery, located across the street from Aspiria, said she'd love to see the Royals make the move—when there is a clear plan.
'We're big Kansas City fans,' she said. 'But if they could be as clear as possible—what kind of timeline we're looking at, letting us know about possible detours or construction—that would help.'
FOX4 reached out to the City of Overland Park with several questions. In response, Mayor Curt Skoog said 'Overland Park is supportive of our hometown teams. We know the Chiefs and Royals belong in the Kansas City region and will do everything in our power to keep them here.'

Pep Guardiola approves Gianluigi Donnarumma signing as agent comments on Manchester City talks

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola considers Paris Saint-Germain's Gianluigi Donnarumma as one of the best goalkeepers in the world amid interest in the Italy international from the Etihad Stadium, as per a new report. Donnarumma will leave Paris Saint-Germain in the coming weeks after a long-standing contract standoff with the club's hierarchy culminated in a decision to offload the 26-year-old as he enters the final year of his deal at the Parc des Princes. Three months on from spearheading the Parisiens to their maiden UEFA Champions League title, Donnarumma has been shown the door in an abrupt manner that has drawn criticism from the Italy international and his agent Enzo Raiola. Manchester City are believed to be the frontrunners in the race to sign the Paris Saint-Germain star, who is entering the prime of his career and will prove to be one of acquisitions of the summer transfer window for the club that secure his signature. After months of speculation around the future of Ederson, the 31-year-old confirmed in a few interviews in July that he expects to stay at the Etihad Stadium and honour the final year of his current contract. However, it is no secret that the Brazil international wants a new challenge and after failing to engineer a transfer to the Saudi Pro League last summer, Ederson is understood to have agreed personal terms with Galatasaray as we enter the final few weeks of the transfer window. Manchester City consider Ederson, who joined the Blues from Benfica in 2017, as part of their plans for the 2025-26 campaign, but will allow a sale should the goalkeeper inform the club he wants to leave and an acceptable offer make its way to the Etihad Stadium. City have already overhauled their goalkeeping department this summer with the additions of Marcus Bettinelli and James Trafford following the departure of Scott Carson, with Stefan Ortega Moreno also expected to complete a permanent transfer in the coming weeks to solidify his place as Germany's number one ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. In an appearance on BBC 5 Live Sport this week, Spanish journalist and author Guillem Balague has provided a peak through the curtain into Pep Guardiola's outlook on Donnarumma as Manchester City await a resolution on Ederson's future. Balague has indicated that Guardiola considers Donnarumma amongst the best three goalkeepers in world football, which reflects a seal of approval from the Manchester City manager for director of football Hugo Viana to strengthen the club's pursuit of the Italian if and when Ederson leaves in this window. Guardiola is understood to have held a direct conversation with Donnarumma, who is believed to have agreed personal terms to move to the Etihad Stadium should Manchester City follow through their initial interest with a formal offer to Paris Saint-Germain for the 26-year-old. Ederson remains Manchester City's number one for the timebeing, though it will be interesting to see if the Brazilian starts in goal in the Premier League opener against Wolves at the weekend – after James Trafford made his first start for his boyhood club against Palermo last week since returning from Burnley in a £27 million transfer this summer. Speaking to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano on his client's future this week, Raiola has hinted that the Italian is on his way to England. 'Premier League is the right step for Gigio (Donnarumma) in my view, we're working on it,' the goalkeeper's agent said.

2025 English Premier League Predictions: Ranking the Top 6 Teams

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup under a year away, all eyes will be on the upcoming English Premier League campaign. The EPL is home to some of the biggest and brightest stars in world soccer, many of whom will star for their countries in next summer's 48-team tournament in Canada, Mexico and the United States. Liverpool lifted the Premier League trophy last season after an outstanding 84-point season and added more attacking talent this season with big-money transfers for Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz. But is this the year Arsenal finally lift the trophy? Can Manchester City reclaim their throne? Let's take a look at the top of the Premier League and where each team ranks entering the season: Note: League positions reflect last season's finish. Last year, the Reds ran away with the Premier League title, besting second-place Arsenal by 10 points. Despite the tragic death of forward Diogo Jota, Liverpool has only gotten better this summer. Arne Slot's side has been the big winner of this transfer window, dropping north of $350 million on backup keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, defenders Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez, and forwards Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz. No wonder they're the favorites to retain the English title. After finishing fourth in the Prem last term, the Blues stunned many by winning the expanded, 32-team Club World Cup in July. Can they harness that momentum and use it to challenge for English and European titles next spring? They've got the firepower. Chelsea already have an emerging superstar in winger Cole Palmer — this season he'll be supported by new recruits like strikers Liam Delap and João Pedro, Pedro's fellow Brazilian attacker Estêvão, and English forward Jamie Gittens. The Premier League runner-up in each of the last three seasons, what Mikel Arteta's team is missing at this point are trophies. Still, Arsenal continues to improve. The Gunners knocked then-Champions League holders Real Madrid out of Europe's top club tournament last April, snaring a convincing 5-1 aggregate win. And they've added real quality this summer in the form of defensive midfielder Martín Zubimendi and forwards Viktor Gyökeres and Noni Madueke. City's unprecedented run of four consecutive Premier League titles came to a halt last season, when Pep Guardiola's side finished third, lost the FA Cup final to Crystal Palace, and were eliminated from European play before the Champions League's round of 16 even began. This team is too good not to bounce back in a big way this year, though — even without club legend Kevin de Bruyne, whose contract wasn't extended. The Magpies eked into the Champions League places last term only because UEFA granted England's top flight one additional spot. Newcastle fans aren't complaining though, though they will be if and when star forward Alexander Isak leaves for Liverpool on the eve of the new season. It's hard to believe that the 20-time English champions finished 15th last season, when they also lost the Europa League final to Premier League rivals Tottenham. But the Red Devils added forwards Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Šeško this window, and they should fare better in Ruben Amorim's first full season at the Old Trafford helm. MLB negotiating with Apple, Netflix, ESPN, NBC for possible broadcast packages: Sources

Major League Baseball executives are in negotiations that could result in new broadcast packages and relationships, with Netflix, ESPN, NBC and Apple in the mix, according to officials briefed on the discussions. NBC/Peacock and Apple TV+ are considered the top contenders for Sunday Night Baseball and first-round playoff games, while ESPN could add weekday games and a bigger daily digital presence, the officials said. Netflix has emerged as the potential Home Run Derby destination. Advertisement No deals have been finalized, and talks are active, creating an opportunity for other platforms to jump in. All the contracts are expected to be for three seasons. MLB declined to comment. The main rights in play are the ones ESPN opted out of in February, including the Home Run Derby, Sunday Night Baseball and eight-to-12 first-round playoff games per year. MLB had three seasons remaining on that deal with ESPN, which was paying, on average, $550 million per year. ESPN is now after a new set of rights. MLB commissioner Rob Manfred mentioned having a deal done by the All-Star break. Now, he and the league's top negotiators are trying to divvy up and create more inventory to reach the $570 million MLB was owed for the upcoming year. The value of these deals escalates over time, so the number MLB is trying to match is slightly higher than the annual average it was receiving from ESPN. While Manfred called ESPN a 'shrinking platform' immediately after the spring training divorce, it appears as if MLB may stay in business with the company. A weekday package could keep ESPN in the baseball business, while the network is also interested in the league's crown jewel that offers out-of-market games for all its teams. ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro has repeatedly stated his interest in local games as the network launches its new direct-to-consumer product next week. Netflix has emerged as a strong contender for the Home Run Derby, which Bloomberg recently reported. Netflix is into eventizing, and the Derby may fit its strategy. It could also add World Baseball Classic rights in Japan, which Puck first reported. Meanwhile, Apple and NBC/Peacock appear to be the final contenders for the Sunday Night Baseball package and, presumably, playoff games. Apple already pays $85 million annually for exclusive doubleheaders on Fridays. It is possible MLB could split Sunday night and the playoffs. MLB also has a national Sunday late-morning package with Roku worth $10 million per season. Advertisement The terms of the deals are expected to be for three years, as MLB's goal is to have all its rights, including the World Series and the playoffs, open for bidding in the 2029 season. After 2028, Fox and TNT Sports' deals with the league will conclude. With the Fall Classic available, MLB hopes to reset its national market with its deals. Spot the pattern.
