
World record created with yoga on boats
Vijayawada: Water Crafts-Floating Yoga conducted by the NTR district administration near Berm Park in Krishna River on Wednesday morning evoked good response as more than 2,000 yoga lovers enthusiastically participated in the Yogandhra campaign and practiced Yoga. The World Record Union (WRU) announced that a new world record was created in Vijayawada on Wednesday by performing Yoga on boats.
As part of Yogandhra, the event was organised in the pleasant morning on Krishna waters involving more than 200 boats. IAS officers, students, yoga teachers, fishermen, and a large number of Yoga lovers enthusiastically performed yoga on the boats, fishing boats, Jet Ski boats, sand boats and others.
Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath inaugurated the event. Special chief secretary of the department of tourism and culture Ajay Jain, Principal secretary Mukesh Kumar Meena, NTR district collector G Lakshmisa, Joint collector S Ilakkia, VMC commissioner HM Dhyana Chandra and others participated.
MP Sivanath said a new world record was created in Vijayawada by performing Water Crafts-Floating Yoga on Krishna river.
World Record Union (WRU) judge Sharif Hanif visited the Berm Park and was delighted to see more than 2000 people participating in the yoga on boats. He announced that a world record was created by performing yoga on boats by more than 2000 persons. He congratulated the NTR district administration for conducting the mega event and stated that the people of Vijayawada gave a big message to the world on Yoga and its importance for health and fitness.
MP Sivanath congratulated the organisers and the people of Vijayawada.
Staff from the department of fisheries, panchayat raj, Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, boating clubs, swimmers' associations made collective efforts for the success of the event.

Haryana to see participation of 11 lakh people on Yoga Day: CM Nayab Saini
Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday said preparations are underway for the 11th International Yoga Day to be held on June 21 across all 22 districts and 121 blocks that will see the participation of over 11 lakh people. This year's state-level programme will be held at the sacred Brahma Sarovar in Kurukshetra, the site from where Lord Krishna delivered the message of karma to the world. Renowned Yoga guru Swami Ramdev will lead the Yoga session in Kurukshetra. Saini said the aim is to ensure participation of over one lakh people, not only to popularise Yoga but also to set a new world record. The Chief Minister was addressing a Yoga Protocol Training Camp organised jointly by the AYUSH Department, Haryana Yog Aayog, and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) at Bhanu in Panchkula district. At the event, the Chief Minister, along with other ITBP officials and personnel, observed a two-minute silence to pay homage to those who lost their lives in the Ahmedabad plane crash and prayed for their souls' peace. Paying tribute to the contribution of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), CM Saini said this institution is a living embodiment of discipline, service, dedication, and patriotism. He said the ITBP 'guards our northeastern borders in harsh conditions day and night. Be it disaster relief, internal security, or international sports, the ITBP has always taken a lead role'. The Chief Minister said the celebrations of the 11th International Yoga Day in Haryana had already commenced on May 27, with Yoga programmes being organised across the state. So far, over 15.60 lakh people have participated in these programmes. He said more than 61,000 medicinal plants have been planted during these events. A Yoga awareness campaign is also being carried out, which will reach 5,000 villages by June 19. Institutions like Patanjali Yogpeeth, Bharatiya Yog Sansthan, Brahma Kumaris, and Art of Living are holding Yoga camps at 2,500 locations across the state.

Preparations underway for International Yoga Day
Kurnool: The Kurnool district administration is making extensive arrangements to celebrate International Yoga Day on June 21 with massive public participation across the district. District Collector P Ranjith Basha has instructed all departments and officials concerned to ensure the event is conducted on a grand scale and in a well-coordinated manner. Chairing a teleconference with RDOs, MPDOs, municipal commissioners, tahsildars, and special officers on Thursday morning, the Collector reviewed the progress of the state-wide 'Yogandhra' campaign. He announced that the district has successfully met its registration targets for the programme, and 91% of registered citizens have already been mapped to certified yoga trainers. However, he pointed out that Alur, Adoni Municipality, and C Belagal mandals have shown delays in the mapping process. He directed the respective MPDOs and the Adoni Municipal Commissioner to accelerate efforts and avoid any negligence, noting that the Chief Minister is giving high priority to this initiative. He further instructed mandal special officers to monitor and review the progress regularly. Expressing concern over delays in uploading training programme data online, he stated that show-cause notices would be issued to the Alur MPDO and Adoni Municipal Commissioner for non-compliance. On June 14, a district-wide rehearsal of mass yoga demonstrations will be conducted with all registered participants. On June 17, a special thematic yoga session involving 5,000 sanitation workers will be organized at the Outdoor Stadium in Kurnool city. The Collector instructed the Kurnool Municipal Commissioner to make all necessary arrangements for the event, including venue readiness, logistics, and participant coordination. The district administration aims to achieve record participation with over 10.65 lakh people expected to take part in the International Yoga Day celebrations across Kurnool. Among those who participated in the teleconference were Joint Collector Dr B Navya, Kurnool Municipal Commissioner Ravindra Babu, ZP CEO Nasar Reddy, and SETKUR CEO Venugopal, along with other key district officials.

10-day yoga training for police begins
Tirupati: A10-day yoga training programme for police personnel commenced at police parade ground here on Thursday. Speaking after inaugurating the training programme being organised as part of the month-long Yogandhra programme, Additional SP (Armed Reserve) Srinivas Rao said daily practice of yoga will not only help physical fitness but also helps to overcome stress. Police personnel can improve their performance with regular yoga practice that helps them to focus on their duty, he added. Indira Gandhi Rastriya Kalakendra Regional Director Raghavan and professors Jyothi and Lakshmi Narayana said physical fitness and stress-free lifestyle is a must for the police to perform their duties well and the 10-day training programme provide the police practice Yoga including Pranayamam.
