New roofing aid for Selangau longhouse under MRP house improvement programme

SELANGAU (July 31): Residents of Rumah Lesia Kudul in Nanga Alat, Batang Oya Tengah here have expressed their gratitude to the state government for the provision of new roofing materials.
The materials for the 23-door longhouse, provided under the Minor Rural Project-Sarawak House Improvement for the Poor Programme (MRP-PPRMS), were handed over to the residents by Munan John Andrew on behalf of Selangau MP Edwin Banta.
'This assistance reflects the government's attention to the needs of people in the interior,' said longhouse chief Lesia Kudul.
'The new roofing sheets will replace the current old and worn-out ones, significantly improving both the comfort and safety of the residents.'
He thanked Edwin and the government for their continued concern and support for rural communities.

RM2.75 mln RTP grant boosts schools, kindies in Pujut

MIRI (July 26): Twelve schools and a kindergarten under the Pujut constituency have benefitted from a RM2.75 million allocation from the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) grant, said Pujut assemblyman Adam Yii. He said the allocation reflected his ongoing commitment to prioritising educational development and pledged continued collaboration with all stakeholders to improve school infrastructure and learning environments in the constituency. The 12 RTP recipients are Tadika Krokop, Tadika Miri Chinese, Tadika Pujut, SK Pendidikan Khas, SK Anchi, SMK Dato Permaisuri, SK Pujut Corner, SJKC Chung Hua Krokop, SJKC Chung Hua Pujut, SK Miri, SK Pei Min, and Kolej Vokasional Miri. 'Between 2022 and 2024, a total of RM2.75 million was approved and utilised for upgrading works involving school facilities and teaching resources,' said Yii. 'RTP allocations are a small investment in our future human capital that will drive broader development across Sarawak. 'These efforts not only improve the school environment, but also reflect our strong commitment to delivering quality education for the next generation,' he said. He was speaking during a minor rural projects (MRP) cheque presentation ceremony totalling RM76,500 to 25 local associations at the Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) Pujut branch office today. The MRP recipients are Miri Chiang Hsia Huang Clan Association; JKKK Kampung Wireless Women Bureau; the Federation of Guang Dong Community Sarawak Association; Speed Chasers Motorsports Club; Kelab Silat Olahraga APY's 30; Kelab Social MiriFm; Leo Club of Curtin University Malaysia; Persatuan Belia Kristian Rhema; The Boys Brigade Malaysia 6th Miri Company; Sarawak Taiwan Graduates' Association Miri; The Association of Liing Hung Wong Clan; Pertubuhan Kebajikan Dangsanak Limbang Miri; Dayak Bidayuh National Association; Miri Division Sepak Takraw Association; Miri Chawan Association; United Association of Chinese Primary Aided School Board of Management Miri and Limbang Divisions; Kelab Rekreasi Kakitangan Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran Miri; Persatuan Orang Kurang Upaya Fizikal Miri; Persatuan Bakat Dayak Sarikei; JCI Malaysia Area Sarawak; JKKK Piasau Utara; Junior Chamber International Lutong; Sarawak Chinese Association; Kelab Bola Sepak Baram; and Miri Community Holistic Development Activator Association.

MIRI (July 12): A total of RM83,000 of Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants were distributed to 20 representatives of local organisations in the Bekenu constituency here yesterday. The allocations were distributed by Bekenu assemblywoman Datuk Rosey Yunus during a ceremony held at the N71 Bekenu Service Centre. In her speech, Rosey, who is also Deputy Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, reminded the recipients to utilise the funds effectively to ensure they bring meaningful impact to the local communities. 'This aid is meant to drive development and enhance the well-being of the people. Each recipient is entrusted with the responsibility to channel this allocation towards community activities that will benefit their respective areas,' she said. She further stressed that the recipients must submit official reports of their spending to the respective village committee members to ensure the funds are used as intended and meet the objectives of the MRP programme. Among the recipients were the Society of Parents of Children with Special Needs (Pibakat), SMK Luak's Parents Teachers Association (PTA), Kelab Polis Btn 12PG, Persatuan Veteran ATM, Persatuan Gagasan Anak Dayak, Jawatankuasa Mahrajan Pendidikan Islam Sekolah Daerah Subis, Perkim Miri branch, Pengurusan Masjid Murul Yaqin Kampung Muhibbah Ladang 3, and SJKC Sungai Lumut Board of Management. Other recipients include SMK Bekenu's PTA, Jawatankuasa Khas Pembangunan Persatuan Bakong, Dalik, Meriek Sarawak (Badami) Sibuti, Persatuan Sukan & Kebajikan Bomba Sarawak, Persatuan Sokongan Kanser Payudara Miri (Persopam), Kelab Sosial Mirifm, JKKK Kampung Pintasan Tiris, JKKK Kampung Masjid Niah, JKKK Kampung Bulau, JKKK Kampung Terahad, JKKK Rh Christopher Banyong, and Pemuda PBBB Tanjung Belipat.
