Rangers place C Kyle Higashioka on injured list
May 1 - The Texas Rangers placed catcher Kyle Higashioka on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a mild left intercostal strain.
The move is retroactive to Wednesday, one day after Higashioka sustained the rib injury while running out a three-run double in the eighth inning of the Rangers' 15-2 victory over the Athletics.
Higashioka, 35, is batting .254 with one homer and eight RBIs in 17 games in his first season with Texas. He signed a two-year deal in free agency in December.
Higashioka is a career .214 hitter with 58 homers and 174 RBIs in 415 games with the New York Yankees (2017-23), San Diego Padres (2024) and Rangers.
In a corresponding move, the Rangers recalled right-handed pitcher Caleb Boushley from Triple-A Round Rock.
Boushley, 31, has a 5.87 ERA in three relief appearances this season with Texas. He made his major league debut with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2023 and pitched in two games for the Minnesota Twins in 2024.

Joining the hardy band of climbers were four men who won titles galore at Rangers. Marvin Andrews, Lee McCulloch, Michael Mols and Kevin Thomson won a combined 29 trophies between them for the Light Blues. The quartet signed up to head up the mountain for the Rangers Charity Foundation, the Ibrox club's charitable arm. Those taking part posed for a group photo at the base of the hill, and video footage later captured fans' favourite Mols keeping the spirits high with a short rendition of Follow Follow. The weather for the hike was a classic Scottish mixture, with some rain, wind and clouds mixed in with a temperature of around 16 degrees. Each participant was asked to raise a minimum of £250 in sponsorship, which will go directly to the foundation. By completing the challenge fans will be invited to a special reception at Ibrox later this year to receive a medal from a current first team star. McCulloch and Thomson were two of the first to reach the top and they were quick to post some pictures from the summit. Ben Nevis is 1,345metres tall and is both the highest mountain in Scotland and the British Isles. The Rangers Charity Foundation has recently worked with a number of charity organisations in and around Glasgow and across Scotland. A statement from the charity ahead of the climb said: "We are ready to trek to the highest point in the UK, the summit of Ben Nevis whilst raising vital funds for the Rangers Charity Foundation. "The Rangers Charity Foundation exists to be a force for good on behalf of the Rangers Family, showing compassion to those in need, tackling inequalities and creating opportunities for people of all ages to change their lives for the better. "All funds raised through Bears Up Ben Nevis will go towards our comprehensive range of programmes in the community, which reaches thousands of children and adults offering life-changing opportunities in education, health and wellbeing, employability and diversity and inclusion. "You will also be supporting our charity partners! Each season we work with charities to fund projects that have a lasting and significant impact locally, nationally and across the world. This season we are working with SAMH, Glasgow City Mission, Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity, Armed Forces and Veterans related charities. And Raith director Ruaridh Kilgour admits Raith are waiting to find out if Rangers will get back in touch. He said: 'It's not kind of one of [technical director] John Potter's priorities right now. 'There's a lot of other things going on, like just basically building a squad through the transfer window. 'But completely out of the blue, Rangers contacted John and asked him to go for a meeting at Murray Park with Nils Koppen, the then technical director. 'They said that they'd pinpointed Raith Rovers as someone they would like to have a partnership with to develop their young players. 'They then came to Stark's Park the week after to have a look around and see what the facilities are like, which again they were really impressed with. 'The way it was left was that we asked them to come up with a proposal of what this could look like. 'They saw this as something where they could potentially send us other players. "As an overall update, no official proposal has been sent, Rangers have gone through a takeover and Nils is no longer there and nothing has happened in the last three or four weeks.' And Kilgour insists Raith will only enter into a partnership if it is right for them and their fans. He added: "The way we will then approach this is decided on three factors. 'Number one will be a football factor where Barry [Robson] and John would make a decision based purely on the playing side of it. 'We as a board would make a financial decision on it about how this can help us with our budget, in terms of what the cost would be to bring in these players – or maybe they would be free, who knows. 'And then finally – and most importantly – there'd be a kind of brand perspective where we would put it to supporters. 'Because this is one of those decisions where we feel supporters should be consulted. And the reason for that is we know that some supporters will not like the potential to be partnered with other clubs."
