Dubai, UAE: The Dubai Electronic Security Center (DESC) concluded its successful participation at GISEC Global 2025 held from 6 to 8 May, with a series of strategic announcements, project launches, and talent development initiatives aimed at reinforcing the emirate's cyber resilience and shaping its digital future.
As the official government cybersecurity partner for the eighth consecutive year at GISEC Global, the Dubai Electronic Security Center (DESC) utilized its participation to reinforce its commitment to advancing secure digital transformation. The Center's focus remains on three core pillars: enhancing the resilience of digital infrastructure, fostering the development of national cybersecurity talent, and promoting international collaboration to exchange best practices and drive global cybersecurity standards forward.
His Excellency Yousuf Hamad Al Shaibani, CEO of the DESC, said: 'Our projects and partnerships reflect the vision of our leadership to position Dubai as a global hub for innovation and digital security. We are proud of our achievements at GISEC Global 2025, which align with our commitment to building a secure and sustainable digital economy. By recognizing national talent and launching key initiatives, we are nurturing an Emirati generation capable of safeguarding our digital future.'
'Our strategy focuses on strengthening collaboration, fostering innovation, and preparing for future challenges, reinforcing Dubai's role as a leader in digital security,' Al Shaibani added.
As part of its efforts to strengthen the readiness of the emirate's digital infrastructure, the Center introduced the Zero Trust Assessment Tool and Guideline, marking a significant advancement in the cybersecurity framework for government entities. Based on the principles of continuous verification of identity and access rights, the guideline aims to reduce vulnerabilities and limit exposure to cyber threats across critical systems.
To support the development of secure digital identity infrastructure, the Center launched Ethaq Plus, an advanced digital trust platform that enables organizations to carry out secure and reliable transactions. The platform strengthens the use of trusted digital certificates to protect data, safeguard communications, and verify authenticity across services.
In addition, the Center introduced the Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) Guideline as a forward-looking measure to prepare Dubai's digital infrastructure for emerging threats posed by quantum computing. This initiative represents a strategic step toward ensuring the long-term security and sustainability of the emirate's data systems and smart services.
As part of its commitment to developing national talent, the Center launched the ISR Officer Certification Program, designed to equip government employees with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively manage and implement information security regulations, ensuring readiness in the face of evolving cybersecurity threats.
In addition, the Center signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Moro Hub, a Digital DEWA company, to deliver advanced security assessment services to government entities. This collaboration aims to strengthen the protection of the emirate's critical infrastructure and further enhance its cybersecurity resilience.
As part of its efforts to build capacity and enhance skills, the Center hosted a ceremony to honor the fifth cohort of the Cybersecurity Leadership Program at the Dubai Cyber Innovation Park. In addition, the DESC also launched the latest edition of the Dubai Cyber Challenge for government entities, featuring over 30 technical challenges designed to simulate real-world digital environments in Dubai. The Challenge aimed to improve compliance and boost the efficiency of national staff. The competition was intense, with Digital Dubai Authority securing first place, Dubai Customs in second, and Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) taking third.
The Center concluded its participation by hosting the finals of the School of Cyber Defense Championship, which attracted over 300 applications from students at state universities. The finalists competed in a simulated environment that replicated real cyber threats, developing advanced solutions to tackle these challenges. Al Ain University took first place, followed by University of Dubai in second, and Abu Dhabi University in third. The winners were awarded prizes totaling AED 130,000 to further support their careers in this critical sector.
DESC's active participation at GISEC Global highlights its vision for fostering a flexible and integrated cybersecurity environment, one that accelerates secure digital transformation and establishes Dubai as a global leader in sustainable cybersecurity.

Held from 18 to 22 June in Riyadh and Dubai, the expert-led master classes enhanced doctors' clinical proficiency in treating complex cases with the Invisalign® system. The sessions also introduced practical applications for treating growing patients using new regionally available innovations—including the Invisalign® Palatal Expander System and the Invisalign® System with mandibular advancement featuring occlusal blocks. Led by Dr. Regina Blevins, Align Global Faculty speaker and adjunct faculty at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, the sessions focused on how to diagnose and treat 3D malocclusions—specifically pitch, yaw, and roll—using the Invisalign system, cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging, and ClinCheck® software. 'The Invisalign Roadshow reflects Align's ongoing commitment to raising the standard of orthodontic care across the Middle East,' said Angelo Maura, General Manager of Align Technology, Middle East and Africa. 'By combining advanced clinical education with access to regionally available innovations through the Align Digital Platform, we are empowering doctors to treat complex cases with greater precision, streamline their workflows, and meet the evolving needs of patients across the region.' Translating Digital Techniques into Everyday Practice The master class sessions equipped doctors with the tools to analyse skeletal discrepancies, design precise treatment plans for both transverse and vertical cases, and apply refinement strategies to achieve long-term stability. With temporary anchorage devices (TADs) integrated into planning discussions, doctors left with enhanced clinical confidence in managing asymmetries digitally—especially in cases that have traditionally been approached with analogue methods. They were also structured to go beyond technical delivery, fostering a deeper understanding of how to apply complex diagnostic tools in real-world GCC practice settings. Doctors engaged in active discussion on managing skeletal asymmetries and occlusal cants, with particular focus on planning strategies that support long-term case stability. The interactive format encouraged peer exchange, practical troubleshooting, and case-specific dialogue. Feedback from participants in Riyadh and Dubai reflected a strong appetite for specialised, regionally delivered clinical education. Many highlighted the value of gaining hands-on experience in digital case planning and the opportunity to contextualise advanced techniques for their patient populations. Expanding Treatment Possibilities for Growing Patients In addition to its focus on complex case planning, the roadshow also highlighted the recent regional availability of two important innovations designed to support growing patients: the Invisalign Palatal Expander System and the Invisalign System with mandibular advancement featuring occlusal blocks. The Invisalign Palatal Expander System is a modern, direct 3D-printed orthodontic appliance developed using Align's proprietary and patented technology. Indicated for the orthodontic treatment of malocclusion, it is used for the rapid expansion and subsequent holding of skeletal and/or dental narrow maxilla (upper jaw, dental arch and teeth, palate) with primary, mixed or permanent dentition in children and adolescents. Based on iTero intraoral scanner ® data, the removable appliance offers a hygienic, comfortable, and screw-free alternative to traditional expanders. The Invisalign System with mandibular advancement featuring occlusal blocks is the first clear aligner solution to integrate solid occlusal blocks for predictable mandibular advancement. Designed for growing patients aged 10–16, it enables simultaneous dental alignment and mandibular positioning—particularly in Class II deep bite cases—while improving fit, durability, and overall treatment efficiency. Both innovations are now available to Invisalign providers across the GCC and are fully integrated into the Align Digital Platform, Align's unique combination of software, systems, and services designed to provide a seamless experience and workflow that integrates and connects all users – doctors, labs, patients, and consumers. Taking place at the University of Dubai from 30 June to 10 July, the program will run daily from 9 AM to 1 PM, offering an interactive educational environment designed to develop digital skills and raise awareness of cybersecurity challenges among the next generation. Organized in collaboration with the Dubai Cyber Innovation Park (DCIPark), the University of Dubai, EMT, and Tech Firm, the program reflects the Center's continued commitment to fostering a culture of cybersecurity, equipping youth with the knowledge and tools to protect digital ecosystems, and contributing to the creation of a secure, sustainable digital society. This ensures students grasp the fundamentals of cybersecurity in a simplified and engaging way. In the first week, students will take part in introductory sessions covering cybersecurity basics, participate in workshops on creating strong passwords and practicing digital hygiene, and compete in interactive challenges designed to test their knowledge and encourage a spirit of friendly competition. The program also offers advanced sessions on antivirus technologies and Wi-Fi network protection, along with practical workshops on setting up home security systems, identifying the most common modern cyber threats, and learning effective prevention methods. To foster critical thinking and innovation, the program includes dedicated sessions on hardware-level cybersecurity. These feature analytical activities that empower students to design secure digital solutions inspired by cutting-edge global technologies. This rich educational experience is further enhanced by a range of interactive, entertainment-based activities such as code-breaking games, cybersecurity-themed crossword puzzles, and awareness-building sessions, delivered in a fun and stimulating way to help embed cybersecurity knowledge in students' minds.
