Manchester United vs ASEAN All-Stars: Prediction, kick-off time, team news and live stream
Having named his 32-man squad for this week's two-legged trip, Amorim will hope United's matches against ASEAN All-Stars and the Hong Kong national team - who they face on Friday - end with better outcomes than their last appearance on foreign soil.
Wednesday's opponents, initially formed by the ASEAN Football Federation in 2014 for a charity event to aid victims of Typhoon Haiyan the previous year, is hand-picked from Southeast Asia internationals and selected stars from the regional leagues.
ASEAN All-Stars have not played a match for over a decade, but a new group will suit up in Malaysia this week with Vietnam national team coach Kim Sang-sik at the helm. Billed as the Maybank Challenge Cup, the upcoming friendly will reportedly donate all proceeds to the Al-Sultan Abdullah Foundation, a local non-profit.
Marking United's first visit to Malaysia since their 2009 pre-season tour, the trip is expected to generate upwards of £7m for the club.
Manchester United vs ASEAN All-Stars is scheduled for a 1:45pm BST (8:45pm local time) kick-off on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
The match will take place at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.
Live stream: The match will be shown live exclusively on MUTV, Manchester United's official television channel. Viewers can subscribe to the channel via the club's official website and app, or it is available through providers Sky and Virgin for an additional fee.
Live blog: You can follow all the action on matchday via Standard Sport's live blog!
Free highlights: Match highlights should be available on United's website, social media channels and YouTube shortly after full-time.
The majority of United's first-team squad were named in the 32-strong group making the trip to Malaysia and Hong Kong, including Alejandro Garnacho despite the Argentine reportedly having been told to find a new club.
Andre Onana and Luke Shaw are also travelling despite not featuring against Villa, but there is no room on the plane for Marcus Rashford.
Leny Yoro will remain in Manchester alongside fellow injured centre-back Lisandro Martinez as well as full-back Noussair Mazraoui, who failed to make it through the first half at the weekend.
Diogo Dalot was also withdrawn early on Sunday but has made the travelling squad, with Dutch internationals Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee also deemed fit.
The departing duo of Victor Lindelof and Christian Eriksen aren't included, but outgoing veteran Jonny Evans is.
Joining the aforementioned players and other first-team regulars like Bruno Fernandes, Amad Diallo, Harry Maguire and Casemiro are youngsters including Harry Amass, Ayden Heaven, Chido Obi and several academy players.
For all their struggles this season, United were the better team against Villa on Sunday, albeit while playing against 10 men for just over half of the match.
With this being a friendly, it's unclear exactly how strong a starting XI will be fielded on Wednesday. Amorim will likely be looking to balance winning ambitions with some minutes for the youngsters in the group.
Garnacho's inclusion in the squad might have raised some eyebrows given his apparent split from the manager and omission from the final domestic match of the season, but the reintegration of Mason Mount could continue amid early trials and experiments for next season.
No matter the approach, United's hierarchy and fans will expect a relatively comfortable victory in Kuala Lumpur.
Manchester United to win, 3-1.

Alexander Isak breaks his silence: "broken promises, lost trust..."
Alexander Isak breaks his silence: "broken promises, lost trust..." Alexander Isak has finally spoken out about the ongoing conflict with Newcastle United. Until now, the Swedish striker had remained silent, but he has now addressed the situation in a lengthy message posted on Instagram, where he denounces the breakdown of trust with his club: When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship cannot continue. For several weeks, Isak has been at serious odds with the Magpies. The English press has even reported that the player considered going on strike to force a move away. On Tuesday night, he was notably absent from the PFA ceremony, despite being named in the 2024/25 Premier League Team of the Season. In his message, the 25-year-old forward thanked his teammates and the fans, but lamented that "others have told their side of the story" while, according to him, the issues have been known internally for a long time. This public statement has reignited speculation about his future, with several top European clubs closely monitoring the situation.

Bayern Munich open talks to sign Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea
Bayern Munich have opened talks with Chelsea to sign Christopher Nkunku (27), according to a report from Florian Plettenberg. Direct contact has now been initiated between the two clubs to explore a potential deal for the French international attacker. Nkunku has been deemed surplus to requirements by Enzo Maresca at Stamford Bridge this summer. The Premier League club are eager to move the PSG academy graduate on before the end of the transfer window. However, the Blues are not willing to entertain a potential loan move for the 27-year-old and will only accept a permanent transfer away from the club this summer. No agreements have yet been reached with Chelsea or the Frenchman, but it is believed that the former RB Leipzig attacking midfielder would be keen to return to Germany and join the Bundesliga champions. The versatile attacker's contract with the West London club is set to expire in 2029. GFFN | Liam Wraith

Chelsea handed Tosin Adarabioyo injury boost as defender set for training return
Chelsea have been handed a huge injury boost with Tosin Adarabioyo expected back to training this week. The defender was ruled out of Chelsea's opening game of the new Premier League season on Sunday - a 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace - with what Enzo Maresca described as a 'physical problem'. Sources close to the situation have since told Standard Sport that the issue is 'very minor' and the player was withdrawn from the matchday squad as a preventative measure. It came after he failed to complete the team's training session on Saturday. It is understood that the plan as things stand is for Tosin to return to training this week, though that has not been set in stone yet as he continues to be monitored closely. Tosin remains a doubt for Friday's trip to face West Ham at the London Stadium at this stage, but he is expected back playing soon. Speaking after the Palace draw, manager Enzo Maresca said: 'He had a physical problem. We don't know for how long [he will be out].' In his press conference on Friday, Maresca explained that he feels Tosin is the only centre-back at the club able to deputise for the injured Levi Colwill in the middle of Chelsea's back three when the team are in possession. He sees the former Fulham man as an important player and had to adapt by starting Josh Acheampong against Palace once it was then decided on Saturday that Tosin had to miss the match. Maresca has made it clear that he wants Chelsea to sign another centre-back to cover the loss of Colwill to an ACL injury that is set to keep him out of action for the majority of the season. Chelsea's hierarchy are less minded to oblige, however, and have faith in Maresca to use Tosin, Acheampong, new signing Jorrel Hato and others to find solutions from within.
