When will Belmont Street welcome back its fun-filled family festival?

Belmont Street will be put in the spotlight at the end of the month as it welcomes back the Big Belmont Bash.
After a successful debut year, the street festival will return to Aberdeen city centre on May 31 for the first of two 2025 events.
The free family-friendly festival was launched by Collective on the Cobbles last year to celebrate the history and community of the Belmont Street area.
Chairman John Wigglesworth, of Books and Beans, said it was clear they had to bring it back after more than 8,000 turned out in September last year.
He said: 'It is great to be collaborating across organisations all giving our time and efforts to make the Big Belmont Bash happen.
'The formula is simple – create great fun, free activities for all.'
This year, the Big Belmont Bash will be a double bill to bookend the summer – with a second festival to be held on Saturday September 6.
First up is May's event.
Cafes, bars, restaurants, salons and shops on Belmont Street, Back Wynd, Gaelic Lane and Little Belmont Street will all come together on the last Saturday of the month.
The Big Belmont Bash will run from midday until 8pm.
Although the full schedule is yet to be released, organisers have promised 'a few surprises' on top of the family fun they provided at the first festival.
They have already confirmed a variety of games and activities for the whole family to enjoy – with an array of prizes to be won.
A number of local businesses will host workshops on the day, including coffee-making at Books and Beans and the opportunity to make your own sauce at Nando's.
DJs from Drummonds will 'bring the party out onto the streets'.
A number of other performers are also expected on stage to entertain crowds.
Adrian Watson, chief executive of Aberdeen Inspired, said: 'This event isn't just about having fun – important though that is.
'It is also about putting this historic quarter in the spotlight, along with its many outstanding businesses and attractions.
'They work so hard to make the heart of the Granite City a vibrant and attractive 'must-visit' destination.'
For the May edition of the Big Belmont Bash, Citymoves has been chosen as the supported charity.
The dance agency has been part of the Belmont Quarter community since 1992.
'It will receive all of the funds raised through a tombola on the day.
Chief executive Hayley Durward said: 'The Big Belmont Bash has been a welcome addition to our calendar.
'We look forward to being part of the festivities.'
The Big Belmont Bash will return on Saturday May 31 at 12pm and is free for all to attend.

‘Absolutely not, immediately no' people cry as man proposes in Nando's with the big question written in mayonnaise

Scroll down for some top tips on how to ace a proposal I DO(N'T) 'Absolutely not, immediately no' people cry as man proposes in Nando's with the big question written in mayonnaise Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A MAN has been slated for his unconventional wedding proposal, after popping the big question to his beau by writing it out in mayonnaise. We all dream of a romantic proposal, with some choosing to take their partner to an exotic location, or share an intimate moment at home. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 A man decided to propose to his girlfriend in Nandos Credit: 2 The woman didn't seem to impressed by the proposal Credit: However, one man decided to take a very unique approach to popping the question, after taking his girlfriend out to their local Nando's. Taking to TikTok, Nando's waiter Mal shared a snap of the proposal, which he recorded whilst serving the couple. "POV: When he does the bare minimum proposal at Nando's", Mal said. In the video, Mal can be seen carrying a plate of mayonnaise over to the couple. Written in curly mayo writing is the misspelt phrase: "Will you mary me?" Mal then gave the woman at the table the ring, whilst her partner can be seen smiling and not saying a word, assumedly too shy to pop the question himself. He doesn't stand up, or even get down on one knee, with Mal revealing that his legs "curled round that chair." The waiter said that the woman was left extremely perplexed by the unique proposal, and was unsure how to respond. He said that she sat confused for 10 minutes, before finally saying yes to the proposal. However, he added that they didn't even kiss after agreeing to spend the rest of their lives together, and instead just chose to hug. Love Island stars slam Dejon over 'worst exclusive proposal in show history' "He could have put way more thought into it", Mal critiqued, adding that the man had even turned up late to the proposal. The video, posted to Mal's TikTok account (@micmanmal5), has quickly gone viral, racking up 1.2 million views in just 24 hours. TikTok users raced to the comments section to share their thoughts, with many left unimpressed. One person said: "It literally doesn't cost a thing to get down on one knee and propose. How to ace a proposal Thinking of proposing? Follow this checklist by Fabulous' Deputy Editor Josie Griffiths to ensure a yes… Time it right - the average Brit waits between 18 months and two years to get engaged. But you might feel ready after six months, or decide to wait five plus years to pop the question. Only you truly know when the time's right, and this isn't a decision you want to rush. Falling in love might feel amazing but of course most relationships DON'T end in marriage - and this is for good reason… Pay attention - hopefully you haven't reached the point yet of your frustrated partner leaving their laptop open with 'hints' for rings they like. Ideally you'll want the ring to be a secret, but also something they'd happily wear - and for the rest of their life, so just a TEENY bit of pressure here. You need to be paying attention to any comments your partner makes about other people's rings, what they do and don't like, and what's most important to them - size, clarity, specific details. If you're really unsure, or if your partner hates surprises, it's best to propose with a dummy and then buy the real thing together. Family matters - tradition dictates that you ask the dad's permission for his daughter's hand in marriage, but it's not so straightforward nowadays. Maybe your partner's closer to their step-dad, or wants her mum to walk her down the aisle, in which case you'd be better off chatting to them. Maybe they'd find it weird if you went to their parents first, in which case you could ditch the whole thing. Or perhaps they're closer to their friends and the best idea would be letting your partner's best mate pick the ring. These things do matter and could come back to bite you if handled in the wrong way. Plan the setting - does your partner dread being centre of attention, or are they someone who'd be gutted if you proposed at home, berating you forever for a lack of 'effort'? Plan the place for your perfect proposal - how busy it'll be, whether you'll be able to get a good pic there, and other logistics around it. A proposal at the top of a mountain might sound good in theory but your girlfriend might not actually appreciate it when there's sweat dripping down her forehead and she's not wearing the cute dress she'd imagined for the pictures. Personally, I can't think of anything worse than a public proposal where everyone's waiting to hear your answer - in a group of friends, the middle of a restaurant or with an announcement at an event. So bear all of this in mind and remember, it's meant to be about what THEY want, not you. "You can do it in Nandos, sure, but at least get down on one knee and tell her why you want to marry her." A second person said: "Immediately, no. "The least he could do is stand up." A third said: "Absolutely not." A fourth added: "Gonna be honest here. I would pass him."

Nando's fans rush to try new menu items from returning burger to 'girl dinner'

Nando's fans can get their hands on a series of new menu items including a fresh wrap, a returning burger and a new sauce – and people have been rushing to sample the new treats Nando's has launched a fresh batch of new menu items for fans to enjoy this summer. Peri-peri enthusiasts can tuck into these new treats in Nando's restaurants around the UK or order them for delivery now after they were released last week – and people have already been rushing out to try them. ‌ There is nothing like treating yourself to a nice meal out or a takeaway when you have been super busy, or while hanging out with friends or loved ones. Many people opt for Nando's – either eating in the restaurant, or ordering it to their homes. The Nando's team are always changing up the menu. Back in March, the chicken chain has announced its new Extra Saucy Wings, while in May a burger named The Big Cheese was launched. ‌ Switching things up again, the restaurant is now delighting fans with a wrap inspired by one of the most popular summer meals going – the Super Caesar Wrap. Nando's says it is perfect for "girl dinner" and is "everything you love about Nando's' Caesar Salad but extra." ‌ It includes pulled chicken, crunchy croutons, crisp lettuce, Herby Pickles, Creamy Salad Dressing and a drizzle of the recently launched PERi-honey. It's sweet, spicy and crunchy, all wrapped up. On its own, the wrap is priced at £10.25. If you make it a meal with one regular side you will be charged £14.50, and two sides totals £16.50. On Instagram, popular food page New Foods UK shared a post, and said: "The new Super Caesar Wrap is a must try! 10/10!" Many people tagged their friends in the comments and shared plans to try it out for themselves. ‌ On TikTok, Yaz Moore shared her review of the new wrap, and said: "I really like that. You know what, the Caesar dressing isn't too strong either. I'm very picky with Caesar dressing, I can't stand the ones that come in like pre made salad. I only like one type of Caesar dressing and this one isn't bad at all." She added: "I'm so happy, I think I have found my new favourite wrap." ‌ Also now added to the menu is a returning item for little ones -the Nandino Burger priced at £6.25. This much-loved burger is making a long-awaited comeback and has been improved, insists Nando's. The burger includes a grilled chicken breast with lettuce, Lemon & Herb mayo and Heinz ketchup in Nando's new soft roll. The new burger can be ordered as part of the Nandino menu. It comes after garlic BBQ has been crowned the nation's sauce of the summer. Thousands of fans voted for their favourite sauce to return, but the sweet and smoky spice took an early lead in the race and maintained pole position for the PERi-ometer prize. In a close second place was Mango & Lime, and Smoky Churrasco came in third. Fans can now order their meals with Garlic BBQ sauce.
