
Jazz Boys beat Asfandyar in PSM Ramadhan cricket
MUSCAT: MTB Abu Qabas XI and Jazz Boys posted convincing wins in the ongoing Pakistan School Muscat (PSM) Ramadhan softball cricket at the PSM grounds on Wednesday night.
The annual flood-lit knockout tournament has attracted a good turnout including families and children at the lush green PSM grounds.
In the first match, MTB Abu Qabas XI beat SFT by nine wickets.
Batting first, SFT scored a decent total of 102 for the loss of four wickets in the stipulated 8 overs with Afridi scoring a good knock of 34 runs in 16 balls with a six and five boundaries.
MTB Abuqabas scored the required runs in 7 overs losing only one wicket. Man of the match Biala was at his best, scoring 36 runs in 12 balls with five sixers and a four.
The most interesting match in the first round was played between fancied Asfandyar X1 and Jazz Boys. Asfandyar opted to bowl first and Jazz boys scored 116 runs for eight wickets. Zohaib scored 19 runs with three sixers.
In reply, Asfandyar due to some hostile fast bowling by Omair could manage only 56 runs in 8 overs thus losing the match by 60 runs. This is the first time in PSM Ramadhan cricket that Asfandyar XI were outclassed by Jazz Boys.
Omair was man of the match for taking 3 wickets for 19 runs in 2 overs.

Elite Ramadhan Show Jumping Competition concludes
The Elite Ramadhan Show Jumping Competition, organised by Elite Show at the Olympic Arena of Al Rahba Farm in the Wilayat of Barka under the supervision of the Oman Equestrian and Racing Association, concluded with participation of more than 100 horses from various government cavalry units and private stables across five categories. The competition saw intense competition in a Ramadhan atmosphere filled with enthusiasm and excitement. The event was sponsored and supported by Nama Water Services, Liva Insurance, and several private sector institutions. It was attended by Sayyid Munthir bin Saif al Busaidy, Chairman of Oman Equestrian and Racing Association, along with several board members and representatives from participating units and stables. Elite Ramadhan Show Jumping Competition concludes In Category (C) of 120 cm Jump Height category, 12 horses competed and Barbara Marta on Caster from Al Said Stables took First place. In the Category (D) at 110 cm Jump Height, a total of 16 horses participated and Sultan bin Saif al Foori on Bassam from Royal Cavalry claimed the First place award. At Category (E) for 100 cm Jump Height featured 21 horses and Rashid bin Amer al Mashaykhi on Raad from Royal Oman Police won the first place award. At Category (F) of 90 cm Jump Height, a total of 34 horses competed and Wafaa bint Rashid al Housniyah on Jatha from Royal Oman Police clinched the top place. At Beginner Category of 70 cm Jump Height, a total of 30 horses vied for the top places with 10 riders successfully completing the round with no errors. At the end of each round, the top riders were honoured, with a victory lap on horseback to celebrate their achievements. The final awards were presented by Sayyid Munthir bin Saif al Busaidy, Chairman of Oman Equestrian and Racing Association.

Shooting Stars lead women's Ramadhan basketball
MUSCAT: The fourth Women's Ramadhan Basketball Championship, organised by the Women's Sports Committee of the Oman Basketball Association, kicked off at the secondary hall of Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher. The tournament features five participating teams: Shooting Stars, Betal, Al Amerat Club, Ahli Sidab Club and OQ8 Team. The first week witnessed four decisive victories, with Shooting Stars leading the standings with four points after securing two consecutive wins, marking a strong start in the competition. In the opening match, Shooting Stars clinched a hard-fought and thrilling victory against Betal with a score of 27-25. The game saw significant shifts in momentum, as Betal initially took the lead in the first two quarters. However, Shooting Stars made a strong comeback in the fourth quarter, managing to equalise and forcing the game into a decisive fifth period, where they emerged victorious. The team's triumph was largely attributed to the outstanding performances of Fatima al Numani and Noor al Kharousi, while Kristyna Storkova and Warda Ibrahim stood out for Betal. Shooting Stars lead women's Ramadhan basketball In the second match, Al Amerat Club dominated their encounter against Ahli Sidab Club, securing a commanding 39-6 victory. Al Amerat controlled the game from the start, finishing the first quarter with a remarkable 20-0 lead and maintaining their dominance throughout the second and third quarters. The win was fuelled by the stellar performances of Nareem al Maamari, Asilah Yasser and Reema al Khameini. On the other hand, Fay al Jardani and Maryam al Mahrouqi made efforts to narrow the gap for Ahli Sidab, but to no avail. The third match was a much closer contest between Shooting Stars and Al Amerat Club, ending in a narrow 21-20 victory for Shooting Stars. The game remained competitive until the final seconds, with Al Amerat taking the lead in the first quarter before Shooting Stars fought back in the second. The four quarters concluded with tightly contested scores. Shamssldsha, Nelly Slaibi and Sara al Said played key roles in Shooting Stars' win, while Ghadeer al Ismaili was the standout performer for Al Amerat, scoring 17 points. Duqm Refinery started strong, leading in the first three quarters before Betal mounted a late comeback attempt in the final period. However, the decisive performances of Alina Perosko, Aida Mohamedi and Tamathir Yousef ensured victory for OQ8. On the opposing side, Katherinsi and Warda Ibrahim were the top scorers for Betal. With these results, Shooting Stars remains at the top of the standings with four points, while the other teams look to improve their rankings in the upcoming rounds.
