Redlands police serve search warrant at home connected to 2023 disappearance
Emilio Salem Ghanem was reported missing shortly after he visited a Starbucks on Redlands Boulevard on May 25, 2023, according to the Redlands Police Department. Detectives believe he drove away in a white Nissan Frontier, which was later recovered.
Investigators said that Ghanem was a member of "His Way Spirit Led Assemblies," a religious organization based in Hemet for nearly 20 years. Detectives said he left the organization shortly before he disappeared. He also worked for Fullshield, Inc., a pest control business owned and operated by the religious group, which now operates under the name Maxguard, according to police.
More than two years after his disappearance, Redlands police served a search warrant at a home used by the religious organization. Detectives said they recovered evidence related to their investigation and arrested two people on unrelated charges.
Redlands PD has been working with the Claremont Police Department after learning that another member of His Way Spirit Led Assemblies was reported missing in 2019.
Ruben Moreno, 41, was last seen in Dec. 2017 at a home he shared with other members of the religious organization in the 3900 block of Swarthmore Court, according to the Claremont Police Department. Moreno's family reported him missing in August 2019.
"We are aware of public interest in possible connections between this case and a separate missing persons investigation out of Redlands," Claremont PD said in a press release. "At this time, the only similarity between the two cases are the individuals' ties to His Way Spirit Led Assemblies."

2 Midtown Sacramento Victorian homes damaged in fire
Firefighters swarmed a Midtown Sacramento street to stop a fire from spreading to more homes Monday morning. Sacramento Fire crews were dispatched to the scene near 18th and N streets a little after 9 a.m. Crews found that the fire that had apparently started between two converted Victorian homes had spread into the attics of the buildings. The fire prompted a three-alarm response to be called to the scene. One person was injured when they broke the window out of one home to get their brother out, Sacramento Fire says. No other injuries were reported. Firefighters were able to stop the flames from spreading to any other buildings. The extent of the damage to the two homes is unclear at this point, however. Due to the fire response, N Street is closed between 18th and 20th streets.

Then, on Wednesday, Aug. 6, more than a month after the discovery, the sheriff's office said in an update that authorities believe the identity of the remains was Peter Alexander Robinson, of Austin, Texas, as they were processing the scene. They learned that Robinson was listed as missing around December 2022, and the vehicle he was traveling in was towed from the same area on Interstate 20 in January 2023. The remains were sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for examination. The department later contacted investigators and obtained Robinson's dental records, the sheriff's office said. 'After conducting a thorough forensic analysis (including both dental and DNA comparisons) the Medical Examiner officially confirmed the human remains located at the scene belonged to Peter Alexander Robinson,' authorities said. Robinson's family was later contacted about the identification. The sheriff's office noted that Robinson may have been experiencing a mental health crisis when he vanished. Robinson's cause of death was not immediately made clear. 'We want to take this moment to remind everyone that mental health struggles are real and can affect anyone,' Cleburne County Sheriff Jon Daniel said. Bail denied for Bay Area man charged in fatal fentanyl overdose of girlfriend
A San Mateo County man charged with second-degree murder following the fentanyl overdose death of his girlfriend has been denied bail, prosecutors said. According to District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe's office, a judge denied bail to 26-year-old Pedro Armando Arellano at a hearing on Thursday. The DA's office said in a statement that "he remains a danger to the public." Prosecutors charged Arellano with second-degree murder in connection with the Jan. 4, 2025 death of his girlfriend, 26-year-old Adrienne Dahbour. Arellano pled not guilty at a hearing on Jan. 30, according to court records. According to the DA's office, both Arellano and Dahbour were "regular" fentanyl users and that he allegedly provided her the drug for free because she was his girlfriend. Dahbour had previously overdosed on two occasions and was saved by the overdose reversal drug Narcan, while Arellano had overdosed at least three to four times. Prosecutors said San Mateo police admonished Arellano following one of his overdoses, saying that he could be charged with murder if he gave or sold fentanyl to someone who died from it. On the afternoon of Jan. 4, prosecutors said Arellano gave fentanyl to his girlfriend and they used it together before she went home. Dahbour was found dead by her mother the next day. Arellano remains in custody without bail. A preliminary hearing in the case is set for Sep. 4.
