Why it's not OK to speculate if someone's pregnant
TV and radio presenter Vick Hope, 35, has sparked pregnancy speculation after posting on social media yesterday.
Hope, 35, who is married to DJ Calvin Harris, 41, shared a video from a press junket on her Instagram Stories, and fans were quick to point out that it appeared to show her cradling a bump.
The Radio 1 star also shared a series of photos showing work she'd done recently, including hosting a Poetry Slam. In some of the pictures, she appeared to have a rounded stomach, leading fans and celebrity friends to send congratulatory messages.
Lisa Snowdon wrote, "Congratulations darling. So happy for you both" and Elizabeth Day said: "Congratulations. You look RADIANT AF."
Hope, who previously shot down pregnancy speculation in 2024, has yet to publicly comment on the rumours.
However, whether she's pregnant or not, until she decides to officially confirm it, it's really none of our business.

Many women will have experienced questions such as "oh are you pregnant?" if we refuse an alcoholic drink or feel ill at work. We may even have asked the question ourselves. But talking about someone's health and body is intensely private and you never know what's happening behind closed doors.
In 2022, model Chrissy Teigen posted on social media saying, "I humbly beg you to stop asking if I'm pregnant". Explaining she was undergoing IVF, which was causing bloating, Teigen continued, "I know it's said with excited, good intentions, it just kind of sucks to hear because I am the opposite of pregnant!".
Other celebrities who have been the victim of pregnancy rumours include Michelle Keegan and Jennifer Aniston. In a 2022 interview with Allure magazine, actress Aniston explained that she spent her 30s and 40s trying to get pregnant while under media scrutiny. "All the years and years of speculation... It was really hard," she said. "I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it."

Keegan, who recently gave birth to her first child, daughter Palma, has also spoken about constant questions on starting a family.
"I'm used to people asking me but it's no one else's business," she told You Magazine in 2021. "Nobody else knows what goes on behind closed doors. I think that's the reason that question affects me so much – it's very private!"
The early stages of pregnancy can be a nervous and worrying time for many. Around one in eight pregnancies in the UK end in miscarriage, according to the NHS. And pregnancy and baby charity Tommy's says most miscarriages occur in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.
For this reason, many people wait until after their 12-week scan, which also checks the baby's development, to announce their pregnancy news. If someone has a history of baby loss, they could also be struggling with complicated feelings and not want to announce their pregnancy until a later stage.
Trying for a baby can be a long and gruelling process for some people, both mentally and physically. And it can be hard for those struggling to get pregnant to hear others' announcements or be asked if they're having a child.
Around 52,000 people had in vitro fertilisation (IVF) at licensed fertility centres in the UK in 2022. IVF, which involves injecting hormones into your body, can also have side effects such as mood changes, tiredness, nausea and fuller breasts – all of which can appear similar to some symptoms of pregnancy. So, while you may be wondering if someone's pregnant, actually they could be the opposite.
There are many reasons someone could be showing signs many of us associate with pregnancy, such as weight gain, nausea, bloating or turning down alcohol. They could be side effects of medication, symptoms of other health issues, signs they're struggling with alcohol issues or their mental health, for example.
With some 61% of adults in the UK saying they feel "negative" or "very negative" about their body image most of the time, comments or questions that make people feel their body has changed, they've put on weight or that people are paying close attention to their appearance can be upsetting.
For some people, sharing their pregnancy news is an exciting pregnancy milestone. They may have a special way they want to announce it or be waiting until they've told their closest family first. By asking if they're pregnant, or speculating with others, you're taking that precious moment from them.

South Knoxville losing one of its most popular restaurants amid Sevier Avenue construction
As streetscape construction ramps up, a popular restaurant at the east end of Sevier Avenue is closing after almost a decade in South Knoxville. Landing House owner Zach Land took to Instagram on May 19 to announce the restaurant's closure. June 8 will be the last day open for Landing House, which is uniquely located in a house rather than a typical restaurant space. It's part of the allure for the Chinese and Cambodian-style restaurant near the Sevier Avenue intersection of Island Home Avenue and Foggy Bottom Street, where a roundabout is being built for the streetscape project. Landing House was one of the first spots along the South Knoxville corridor that transformed the street from a desolate, seemingly uninviting stretch into a hotpot for those looking to grab a drink, enjoy a meal and spend the day outside. "Ten years ago, my wife Hao and I saw a 'For Sale' sign on a neat, creepy old house in the neighborhood we lived. Sevier Ave was a desolate place that was honestly … a little sketchy," Land wrote in the Instagram post. "Now that shabby little neighborhood we once knew is completely unrecognizable." Landing House changed that perception, with popular menu items like chicken and shrimp pho, beef filet fried rice and chili crisp noodles making the restaurant stand out as a culinary anchor on Sevier Avenue. The street is now home to a variety of restaurants, bars and breweries, from Redbud Kitchen and Angry Dumplings Tea to Alliance Brewing Company and Hi-Wire Brewing. Balter Beerworks executive chef Hux Jones said in 2023 that Landing House chef Derek Martin was his favorite in Knoxville. "I am so impressed with all the progression he has had with his culinary career," Jones wrote about Martin at the time. "He has really embraced the Asian cuisine with full force." Knox News has also recognized Landing House as one of the best restaurants around town. After A Dopo earned a spot on USA TODAY's Restaurants of the Year list in 2025, Knox News recognized Landing House as one of the restaurants we wish made the list. "We thought it would be great for people to have a place to grab some food to go along with their local craft beers and plowed head first into the insanely scary and hectic world of restaurant ownership," the Instagram post read. Land said in the post it's best to close Landing House "on our own terms than be forced to close in the future." Five months into the 18-month construction period for the $19.2 million city streetscape, Landing House is in a complicated position, with parking made more difficult by the under-construction roundabout and other street work. Streetscape construction is expected to last until summer 2026. "Our business has grown substantially every year we have been open and that is due to your loyal patronage and word of mouth and that means the world to us," Land wrote. "Once again, thank you Knoxville and especially South Knoxville for all your support." Joanna Hayes is the restaurant and retail reporter. "She's Got No Name" unveils first official poster
6 Jun - Two years after the first announcement, Peter Chan's "She's Got No Name" finally unveiled the first official poster for the first part of the movie. The poster reveals the looks of all the cast for the first time, sparking interests of fans who mostly commented that all of the actors seemed unrecognisable and are truly immersed in their characters. This includes lead actress Zhang Ziyi, whose character has scars covering her face; Yang Mi looking dishevelled in her character as a female prisoner, Jackson Yee in shades and equipped with a cane as a blind fortune teller, as well as Zanilia Zhao, looking glamorous as a writer. Fans also couldn't help but notice that both Zanilia and Yang Mi are placed on each side of the poster. The decision seemed to be a way to avoid the fandom of both actresses from arguing on who is the bigger star. Since the film debuted in the non-competitive section of the Cannes Film Festival last year, there has been no further news until it was recently announced as the opening film of the 27th Shanghai International Film Festival. What is noteworthy is that the film has recently been announced to be divided into two parts, the first of which has the Chinese title of "Jiangyuan Lane: Mystery".
