Actor Aubrey Plaza opens up about grief after death of her husband: "It's like a daily struggle"
Actor Aubrey Plaza is opening up for the first time about the death of her husband, Jeff Baena, who died in January. The "Parks and Recreation" star shared her grief on former co-star Amy Poehler's podcast, "Good Hang with Amy Poehler." "Overall, I'm here and I'm functioning," Plaza told Poehler. "it's like a daily struggle, obviously." It's the first time Plaza spoke about losing Baena, 47, to suicide. Plaza compared her grief to the 2025 sci-fi horror film, "The Gorge." "At all times there's like a giant like ocean … of just awfulness," she said. "It's just always there and the monster people are trying to get me." Plaza and Baena, a writer and director, began dating in 2011 and married in 2021 on their tenth anniversary as a couple. Plaza previously spoke about the wedding on "The Ellen Show," describing it as an impromptu event held in their backyard during the COVID-19 pandemic. Following his death, Plaza and Baena's family said in a statement,"This is an unimaginable tragedy. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time." The 41-year-old said on Poehler's podcast that some days, she feels stronger than others. "Right in this very, very present moment, I feel happy to be with you," Plaza told Poehler. Where Is the Squid Game Experience Pop-Up in New York City? The NYC pop-up is located inside the Manhattan Mall at 100 W 33rd St, New York, NY 10001. FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder What to Expect Inside the Squid Game Experience NYC The first thing you'll probably notice once you step inside the building is a gigantic Young-hee doll standing near the entrance. This is one of the best spots to take a photo, as the rest of the exhibit is dimly lit, and flash photography isn't allowed while you're playing the games. The pop-up's main open area is the Night Market, a dark, sprawling space that mainly serves as a gift shop. Here you'll find all sorts of Squid Game goodies, from mugs and marbles to Funko toys and apparel—including the iconic green tracksuits that could double as simple and comfy Halloween costumes. Visitors can also snap photos inside one of the photo booths, order Squid Game-inspired drinks at the bar (courtesy of Johnnie Walker, the official spirits partner of the Squid Game experience), ogle at one of the many Korean-language ads and posters plastered across the walls and columns, and order Japanese ramen at a vending machine (though sadly the machine wasn't working both times I went). Just off to the right when you first enter the Night Market is Squid Mart, a small H-mart pop-up where you can buy popular Korean beverages and snacks like Orion choco pies and Nongshim shrimp crackers. Entry to the actual games is located towards the back of the Night Market. A maximum of 24 participants may enter the games at one time. Once inside the game zone, players have the chance to compete in a total of five individual and group games inspired by the Squid Game franchise—including Red Light, Green Light and Glass Stepping Stones (though fortunately you won't be falling to your death if you take the wrong step). Even if you're eliminated early on, don't worry! Gameplay is based on a points system, so every participant gets to try their hand at all the challenges. Players are ranked on a scoreboard based on how many points they've accumulated, and a winner will be declared at the end. Though the games aren't physically strenuous, they do require some hand-eye coordination, strategic thinking, memory skills and lots of luck! If you're looking for the ultimate Squid Game experience, you might want to opt for a VIP package, which grants you not only priority entry to the games (along with other perks) but also access to the VIP Lounge, where you'll receive a free drink, a golden mask and the opportunity to watch other players compete on a giant screen. Frisbee, Seth Meyers's Dog and Andy Samberg's Nemesis, Dies
If dead dogs go to heaven, Andy Samberg might want to choose another everlasting abode. Seth Meyers's dog, Frisbee, has died at age 14, according to a post on Mr. Meyers's Instagram. She was beloved to the Meyers family, the host of NBC's 'Late Night' wrote. 'R.I.P. to Frisbee, our O.G. I.G. who I was happy to go grey with,' Mr. Meyers wrote in a post on Tuesday about the Italian greyhound, featuring a photo of both of their graying locks. 'She was at her best curled in your lap and patient when we dressed her up like a pilgrim. Thanks for 14 amazing years, girl.' But the scrawny, nervous pooch was probably best known by the public as the target of Mr. Samberg's disgust. Fans speculated that, somewhere, the 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' actor was rejoicing. 'Andy's birthday wish came true,' read one of the top comments on the Instagram post, speculating that Mr. Samberg, who turned 47 on Monday, might have wished ill of the dog on his birthday. (Mr. Meyers did not say exactly when Frisbee died.) Mr. Samberg, whose friendship with Mr. Meyers dates back to their time on 'Saturday Night Live,' developed what can only be described as a strong distaste for Frisbee from the moment she was dropped into his lap as a puppy, the two have said in interviews over the years. 'Frisbee was this big,' Mr. Meyers said to Mr. Samberg on 'Late Night' in 2020, holding his hands at about the size of a bowling ball, 'and we put her in your lap for a second, and you for real went: euhhhhh,' Mr. Meyers said, making a tossing gesture with his hands. 'And she just, like, thumped onto the floor.' Want all of The Times? Subscribe.
