An all Irish cast has been unveiled for the upcoming production of the hit musical Little Shop of Horrors at Dublin's Bord Gáis Energy Theatre. The show will have its Irish premiere this summer, running from Friday July 25 to Saturday August 9. This will mark the first full-scale musical theatre production produced in-house by Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, in partnership with TheatreworX. Featuring an entirely Irish cast and creative team, the production represents a landmark moment for Irish musical theatre and a bold new chapter for the theatre itself. The casting process began back in December 2024, with over 2,000 hopefuls applying from across the country. Following an intensive audition process, the list was whittled down to 150 talented finalists who auditioned in January 2025. The final cast showcases a dynamic blend of established names and emerging talent, making this a truly exciting production for audiences to experience. The cast were in full bloom earlier today as they came together for their very first official groupphoto at Dublin's iconic flower shop, Howbert and Mays. Surrounded by vibrant foliage and floralcharm, the moment marked a fresh beginning for the production. Photos from the event, captured by Brian McEvoy. Speaking at the cast launch, Stephen Faloon, General Manager of Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, said: "We were truly overwhelmed by the extraordinary wealth of talent that came forward during the audition process. "What we witnessed throughout was every bit as strong as the calibre we've come to expect from the biggest West End productions that have graced our stage. "It's a proud and significant moment for us to announce this phenomenal cast, made up of both established and emerging Irish talent. "We are confident that audiences are in for something really special - a bold, high-energy and unforgettable production of Little Shop of Horrors this summer." The cast includes Johnny Ward (Fair City, Love/Hate), Garry Mountaine (The Lobster, Game Of Thrones), Kenneth O'Regan, Michael Joseph, Rachel Gaughan, Amy Penston, Micheal Lovette, James Deegan, Zoe Talbot, Eimear Barr, and Cian O'Riain. Bringing West End star power and comedic flair to the role is David O'Reilly (Book of Mormon, Brassic), who stars as the hapless florist Seymour Krelborn. Opposite him, Jacqueline Brunton, a rising star of musical theatre, takes on the role of the sweet and soulful Audrey. Together, they promise electric onstage chemistry! The role of the Street Urchins, the soulful and sassy trio who guide us through the mayhem of Skid Row - will be brought to life by three phenomenal performers: Ghalia Conroy, Aoife Dunne, and Precious Abimbola. The Irish creative team includes Claire Tighe (Director and Choreographer), David Hayes (Musical Director), Maree Kearns (Set Designer), Kevin Hynes (Costume Designer), John Gallagher (Lighting Designer), Jason Fallon (Sound Designer), and Chris Corroon (Puppeteer). RTE Liveline search heats up as reality star tipped to replace Joe Duffy

TV and radio host Brian Dowling has been tipped to take over Liveline. RTE star Joe Duffy confirmed he is set to retire from the station later this month, with his last Liveline broadcast set for Friday, June 27. Rumours of Duffy's successors include Daithi O Se and Jennifer Zamparelli – but now Celebrity Big Brother star Brian Dowling has also been thrown into the mix. According to Ladbrokes, Dowling is now 6/1 to take over from Joe after the Kildare native announced he would no longer be co-hosting his 98FM show with Suzanne Kane from this Friday. Dowling indicated he will continue on the Six O'clock Show and will continue to film the Salvage Squad this summer. Cal Gildart of Ladbrokes commented: 'Brian Dowling could be the ideal candidate to fill in for Joe Duffy when he leaves Liveline. He has definitely got the personality and punters think he may have an outside chance of landing in the hottest seat in Irish radio right now.' Speaking about her departure, Suzanne said: 'A little life update (isn't that what they call it?) After nearly 5 years, l'm stepping away from my role presenting 10AM to 1PM on 98FM. Anyone who knows me, will know how much I adore radio and the Bauer family inside Marconi house, but for now, it's time to let the 'Good Times' roll for someone else. 'A word to the amazing team, I loved the madness and radio nerdiness that we all shared and how much we cared. Radio is really special and that's because of the people who do the heavy lifting to make it all come together. I'm glad to have been on this rollercoaster with you all. 'To everyone who listened to the show. I loved sharing my life and my kids with the soundest listeners on 98FM. We've been through a lot together & thank you for always turning up for me, it means more than any of you will know.' She continued: 'Lastly, a quick word to my kiddos Oisín, Hannah & Sadie. Thank you for letting me have a go of my dream radio job and playing ball every morning, even the really tough ones, so I could be in front of the mic by 10am and of course, Joey- the voice of support, the constant, the reassurance, who always has the reminder 'We'll figure it out, we always do'.' Dowling added his statement, writing on Instagram: "When I joined Suzanne back in March of 2023, I had ZERO radio hosting skills. Blake was only 6 months old & baby Blu was only a twinkle in our eyes. It took me a minute to get into my new groove, but when I did, WOW, I honestly have had the best time & have genuinely laughed every day; even on those bad days, being part of this show ALWAYS puts a smile on my face. "Here we are now 2 years & 3 months later & I'm still laughing & smiling. I have learned so much about an industry I've been in for nearly 24 years, presenting mainly television shows but now my love for radio easily equals my love for telly. A MASSIVE HEARTFELT. Thank you to the team, Russell and Cathal. You guys make the show what it is, and especially to you, Pat Gill, for making this experience UTTERLY JOYFUL for me. Also, to you, James Brownlow, thanks for taking the risk on me. "It has never ever felt like work; I mean, how could it when I'm playing the likes of Britney, S Club & JLO, to name but a few. I am so looking forward to a slower Summer; I'm not actually sure if I can operate on a slower pace."

‘I don't think there's any negative and he's impressed me the most' – Frankie Dettori's Derby tip

IF you want to find the winner of the Derby then you could do a lot worse than ask two-time winner Frankie Dettori. The world's most famous jockey ended his agonising wait to win it in 2007 with Authorized. 1 Frankie Dettori, won the Derby twice, reckons there's one horse who stands head and shoulders above the rest in this year's race Credit: PA:Press Association And he crowned himself King of Epsom one more time in 2015 aboard the awesome Golden Horn. No one knows the undulations of the Downs better than Frankie - or what it takes to win on it. And one horse in particular this season has impressed him above all others. Asked who he would back in the £1.5million contest, And instead plumped for a British trainer to keep his awesome big race-winning run going. Ralph Beckett won the Arc de Triomphe last year with wondermare Bluestocking. Dettori - who recently The iconic jockey told Most read in Horse Racing "The only thing that might muddle him is the size of the field. "It is close to a maximum field and he's only run twice, so it won't be easy. "He'll have to manage his way through the traffic. He does have a good cruising speed, though, and a good turn of foot. "He's the one which has impressed me the most in the Derby trials. "It's just the lack of experience which disadvantages him. It's very hard to win this race on only your third start, so that's the one thing which puts me off a bit. "Ruling Court is a serious horse. What he showed in the Guineas was very impressive, but it's that massive question mark, will he get a mile and a half? "We know that a mile and quarter is within his reach because he hit the line very strongly at Newmarket, but this is another two furlongs. "He's an amazing, talented horse, but he's got a massive question mark to me. "Damysus looks a very solid horse, but to me Pride Of Arras was much better than him in the Dante and we expect him to improve a bit here, so the gap is looking a bit too far to bridge to me. "Pride Of Arras would be the one I'd put my fiver on. "It's a very exciting race and it is wide open. We've already made a case for a good number of them, and it's very interesting." Dettori also had strong word for Ryan Moore's mount Delacroix. However, his Betfred have the two joint-favourites, while Ladbrokes continue to cut Charlie Appleby's Godolphin colt. The firm's Alex Apati said: "We could be on course for a significant shake-up in the Derby betting over the next few days. "Despite Ryan Moore being on board the favourite, punters' recent interest is seemingly elsewhere. "We may well be looking at a new frontrunner in the field come Saturday afternoon."
