Thunder star Jalen Williams' emotional message to fans at parade
The post Thunder star Jalen Williams' emotional message to fans at parade appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Jalen Williams hype train is not slowing down anytime soon. What a year he had. He surged into a role and took the league by storm. Paired alongside the league MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Williams was able to hit career highs in almost every category and win an NBA Championship in his third season. Advertisement Williams' numbers increased a ton. From 2024 to 2025, his points per game increased from 19.1 to 21.6, assists from 4.5 to 5.1, rebounds from 4.0 to 5.3, and steals from 1.1 to 1.6. His field goal percentage decreased a tad, but he attempted more shots per game. In Game 5 of the NBA Finals, Williams scored 40 points on 56% shooting in a masterclass performance. The former first-round pick played a crucial role with the Thunder this season and will likely be remembered forever already as one of the best players to put on a Thunder uniform. During the championship parade on Tuesday, Williams had an emotional message to the fans. 'None of this is possible without you guys. You guys have been through the ups and downs of the Thunder organization. We appreciate you guys. We love you guys.' Advertisement Williams has just one year left on his contract. He is due for a major payday at the right time. Both Williams and Chet Holmgren are in line for major contract extensions. 'Holmgren and Williams are eligible to sign up to a five-year, $247 million extension. The total value could increase to $296 million if MVP, All-NBA, and Defensive Player of the Year escalator clauses are included,' ESPN's Bobby Marks wrote. 'The increase in salary will only occur if either player reaches one of the three criteria for the 2025-26 season.' Williams was an All-NBA Second Teamer this past season, so he could reach up to $296 million. His incredible rise to fame is only going to get better once he gets the payday he deserves. North Carolina A&T makes historic coaching hire
The post North Carolina A&T makes historic coaching hire appeared first on ClutchPoints. North Carolina A&T has made a historic hire that looks to further grow the trajectory of their golf program. The institution announced Tuesday the hiring of Mesha Levister as the new director of both the men's and women's golf programs. With the hire, Levister becomes the first female head coach of a men's varsity sport at A&T and the first woman to lead the women's golf program. Advertisement 'I am excited to, first off, be coming back to my great home state,' Levister said in a statement. 'That's always the first thing in mind, to be close to family and close to friends and in a great place – the Triad area. The Triad area is a great place for golf, too, so in all honesty, I'm honored and incredibly excited to join North Carolina A&T.' North Carolina A&T Director of Athletics Earl M. Hilton III also commented on her hire, saying, 'Mesha Levister has established herself as a pioneer throughout her life and certainly in the world of golf. We look forward to having her join our team in Aggie Athletics. She knows golf, the area, and is passionate about academic and athletic accomplishments.' Levister's resume boasts a remarkable legacy in the golfing world. From starting her career at North Carolina Central as the lone female on the men's golf team and later serving as a coach, to earning the 2004 Virginia Women's Amateur title as the first African American to achieve the feat, Levister has consistently broken boundaries. After turning professional in 2006, she spent three seasons on the LPGA Futures Tour (now the Epson Tour), competing globally and securing multiple top-10 finishes. She transitioned to coaching with notable success. During a three-year stint at Prairie View A&M University (2022-2025), Levister earned SWAC Women's Golf Coach of the Year honors in 2023 and led her teams to significant academic and athletic achievements. Her tenure there saw nine players receive All-SWAC honors while maintaining a high standard in academics, with the men's team consistently achieving a GPA of 3.1 or higher. Lakers rumors: How new owner will be ‘valuable resource' for LeBron James
The post Lakers rumors: How new owner will be 'valuable resource' for LeBron James appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Los Angeles Lakers officially changed hands on Wednesday, with the Buss family selling its majority stake in the franchise to billionaire investor Mark Walter in a record-breaking $10 billion deal. The transition not only marks a new era for the historic franchise but may also have long-term implications for LeBron James as he looks toward his post-playing career. Advertisement According to a report from ESPN's Tim Bontemps and Dave McMenamin, Walter could serve as a 'valuable resource' for James, who has publicly expressed his ambition to own an NBA team once his playing days are over. 'While James' decision is still pending, a source close to James suggested that Walter could be a valuable resource for James as he pursues his post-playing career goal of one day owning an NBA franchise, too,' the ESPN report noted. Walter, who also owns Major League Baseball's Los Angeles Dodgers, is no stranger to success in professional sports. Since acquiring the Dodgers in 2012, Walter has helped turn the franchise into one of baseball's most consistently dominant clubs, culminating in a World Series title last October. His business acumen and leadership within high-profile sports franchises make him a notable figure in league circles—one whose mentorship could prove instrumental to James' off-court aspirations. Walter's arrival aligns with Lakers' key offseason and LeBron's future James, 40, completed his 22nd NBA season this spring and holds a $52.6 million player option for the 2025–26 season. While he has yet to announce whether he will return for a 23rd year, his interest in franchise ownership has been clear for some time. In past interviews, he has stated his desire to own a future NBA team — most notably in Las Vegas should the league pursue expansion. Advertisement Walter's takeover of the Lakers arrives at a key moment for the organization. The team was eliminated in the first round of the 2025 NBA Playoffs and is entering an offseason of uncertainty and potential retooling. The midseason acquisition of Luka Doncic in a blockbuster trade with the Mavericks reshaped the franchise's core, and the Lakers are expected to be aggressive in the summer market to build a championship-caliber roster around Doncic and, potentially, James. The ownership change also signals a shift in leadership philosophy, with Walter bringing a track record of modernized operations and financial investment that could align with James' own ambitions. As James eyes life beyond the court, forming a relationship with one of the most influential owners in American sports could be a strategic step toward his long-term goals. With the sale finalized and the offseason underway, all eyes now turn to James' pending decision and how Walter's presence could influence both the short-term direction of the Lakers and the next chapter of James' legacy.
